Thank you all for your support! This is the first mod I've uploaded to the nexus and it is really awesome to see everyone's feedback.
I have made a few adjustments to make things simpler. Now, the mod works with just one spell, Safe Race Menu, so you no longer will have to juggle the two spells, idk if that was a problem in the first place but it bugged me. I also updated it to save your base values so you shouldn't need to unequip items that buff your stats anymore.
Currently, I'm working on figuring out how to save/restore active effects/spells and how that works with vampirism. This is my first time playing oblivion so I am still figuring out how the game handles these things.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this mod because I can't seem to name my character anything other than "[NL] Bendu Olo" with this mod installed >~< I like the idea of it though. Hopefully a future update could make this work.
Edit: Uninstall the mod before starting your playthrough and install it after leaving the sewers tutorial dungeon. The mod works wonderfully when used this way. I came back to this mod to give it another try when I wanted to tweak my appearance mid-game and found that no other mod worked.
This mod does indeed work! Thank you so much for making it! <3
Thank you so much :) In mid-game I was able to make changes to my avatar'appearance without loosing anything. I installed it with vortex and it worked perfectly. Simple to install and simple to use!
EDIT: So it turns out my game just... does this. Still kept getting turned into a lizard mutant even without this mod. Dunno how to fix it but it ain't the mod's fault.
So this mod almost works. It saved my stats correctly but it does one thing that horrified me...
It kept doing this despite me having Breton selected. Then this monstrosity happened. I think I'm gonna be sick.
Hey, this won't let me make a new character with any name other than "[NL] Bendu Olo". No other name will save, either from the character creation screen or when using the racemenu edit spell provided by the mod. What's up with that?
It worked very well! There's just one problem: it doesn't save the amount of current level exp, so it resets completely, which can break level progression. I didn't realize this and used it several times. I guessed it would be 1 level higher, so I used the “advlevel” command to try to correct the progression.
Here's a tip for improvement! Tip for those who don't want to reset the level exp: use the “showracemenu” command after leveling up.
Seriously, they added/altered stuff that wasn't even in the original game, but no one thought to add some way to change your appearance other than using 'showracemenu', which isn't even possible for consoles? Sheesh 🙄
Personally, I couldn't get it to work. Just changing the hair and nothing else, no combination of equipping, deequipping and so on results in the stats being restored. It only seems to want to save the stats on any use.
Came here to say, that I've been using this mod since it was first uploaded. Great mod! It's very useful if you like to adjust your appearance around frequently.
But, I also just tested, and this mod will also work to restore your level and stats if you use the class menu console command as well! And given that it works for both racemenu and classmenu, I imagine it would also work for the birthsign menu console command too (though I haven't tested this one myself).
So, if anyone is hours into the game and realized that you messed up your class skills, you can use this mod to safely restore your stats after changing your class skills around! No longer do you have to live with your mistakes or start over with either a new character or just by using the console command and dealing with the level reset.
Kudos and Endorsement sent because of this happy little feature!

All feedback is welcome, and enjoy the mod!
