I guess I'll chime in with the "I've tried many engine.ini but this one finally works for me". My setup is a 3070, a 5-3600x and 16GB of memory. No matter what I won't get a stable open world and there's no engine tweak that will magically fix that, but this one at least did something on my end and I will stay between 40-50 FPS @1440p, high settings, native FSR. This tweak also reduced ghosting while making the game colors closer to the original, which is a plus for me. Lightning of course won't be as good as vanilla remaster, but motion sickness is now bearable lol. Let's hope for some official engine optimization.
Hey! I'm very glad it helped! Make sure you try out the latest update which includes scalability.ini aswell. it should be much more configurable now in-game, the scalability.ini settings will adapt based on your in-game settings. maybe you'll get better visual fidelity.
It seems that the scalability.ini further improves performance, but my only gripe with these tweaks is that they make interiors very bleak with grainy artifacts everywhere, is there any way to fix this?
When i go to my saved folder there is no Config file and ive looked everwhere trying to find it. how do i get to the config file if its not where it should be?
You should run the game at least once for it to generate. And sidenote, you can still paste the Engine.ini there if it's not generated, it'll still count. Also make sure, as usual, it's on read-only.
I never Leave comments on nexus, but i had to with this one. Thank you so much for this mod. From 11FPS while traversing the map to ridicules drops in Frames, Mind you i was in full low settings. With this mod am rolling in High everything (not ultra) and am at a constant 60 FPS. Thank you so much! The game looks pretty good with this mod as well so am really happy!
Edit: you removed the Morowind fog! Thank you! If anyone knows of a mod that makes makes the game brighter and works with this mod id be great full! Why the hell is everything so dam dark! also is there a mod that Removes the Everything is dam red in Oblivion portals...it makes me want to throw up.(not joking)
I'm extremely glad this made you able to actually play the game now! That's actually amazing to hear you are actually running the game on High now. If you are simply looking to make the game brighter, just go into the game's graphics settings and turn up the brightness or use reshade to tweak some stuff yourself maybe. As far as the portal part goes.. no idea yet.. haven't seen one!
You haven't entered a portal yet? Well all ill say is when i entered the first one my firs impression was BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! I play with higher brightness from the vanilla slider but it makes everything look weird :/ well i cant complain, your mode made this game playable and enjoyable.
What i meant is i haven't seen a mod to help with your oblivion portals problem.. :D I've been playing the game like it's a full time job since it came out, while not playing, i was working on this Engine.ini while not playing it :) What i can recommend you is reshade, again, maybe that'll help instead of using the brightness slider :)
Image showing outline This has really helped on my RX 6600! There's a white-ish outline around objects during a rainstorm, I'm wondering if you know what settings or engine tweaks might cause that? Unless it's Lumen-related, and then I suppose I'll live with it for that sweet juicy FPS boost. Thanks!
Hey, first off I'm very glad this helped you! Second.. i looked at your image and i can see that.. it could be Lumen related, yes.. but it could also be anti-aliasing related, such as r.TemporalAA.Algorithm, r.TemporalAA.Upsampling, r.TemporalAASamples, and r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight. You could try playing around with these (increasing or decreasing their values) and/or even removing them maybe to see if the problem still occurs. It could be upscaling related aswell, maybe your FSR quality. These would be my first guesses if you are looking to improve upon that yourself.
This is one of the best ini for performance increase at the moment. The only thing is that shadows are "noisy" and ugly. Without that, it's a nice mod. Thanks.
Yeah, i get that, they are quite jagged, i did my best to keep them somewhat nice looking, but if i increase the quality further, zones with loads of foliage will drop FPS massively, almost 50%. I invite anyone that wants better shadows on slightly better hardware to tweak these further: r.Shadow.MaxResolution r.Shadow.DistanceScale r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod foliage.LODDistanceScale grass.DensityScale
Also thank you for using it and I'm happy to see it being useful for your performance and everyone else's.
