Hi there, if you get the popups in-game then make sure the .esp is loaded, since the UI gets its values from there while the actual carry weight and any slowdown is affected by the value the script or ini change sets :)

Hey, could you detail what to write in mods.json as you mention in your workarounds: - You can try to alleviate this by moving this mod up in the UE4SS load order, this is in mods.json in the UE4SS directory which typically has
not been used, meaning it can be loaded in a not ideal timing if other
mods use excessive waiting loops and similar

Does one write the "modname.esp" or something else and is it in quotes, brackets or something or with some header?

    THE VANILLA METHOD

    ... OR 😉
don't cheat/mod at all and get used to:
    1) buy/learn as soon as you can the Feather spell (e.g. in Cheydinhal) and a horse (Bruma's are cheaper) for faster fast-travels
    2) learn to bring with yourself just the essential gear (forced micromanagement here can be funny for some users...)
    3) you have to know in the game there are some PERSISTENT containers (e.g. some crates in initial Vilverin location) that won't be reset after cell respawn (72hrs after your last visit)... so you can just raid ruins/forts/caves and simply do more than one trip from <--> to these persistent containers to store the heavy treasures you have found

After you level up to lvl 15-20+ (increasing Strength enough) you'll see you don't actually need cheats increasing encumbrance limit at all... It's annoying just at the beginning with a low-lev character. Be patient and don't worry if you have to leave something: you'll find A LOT of (super) items and you'll easily forget what you have left.

👴🏻 I used to cheat too changing encumbrance value in the game for years... then, I tried the vanilla philosophy with the 3 points above, and well, it's still good... Just a matter of habit for more patient "simulative" players.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful perspective and principled approach to gameplay. Your emphasis on adhering to the developers’ intended design is commendable and reflects a deep appreciation for the game’s integrity. I would like to offer a complementary viewpoint: players often engage with games in diverse ways, finding enjoyment through personalized play styles. As games are ultimately designed for entertainment, embracing varied approaches can enhance the experience for all. While differing preferences may spark discussion, I encourage us to avoid judgments that might seem prescriptive or critical of others’ choices. Thank you again for your insights and for fostering this constructive dialogue.

This isn't working for me since I had to switch over to the new patch and the new ue4ss for oblivion remastered, is this mod only working currently with the github version of the ue4ss mod?

Not had the time to test yet after this patch, but in the case UE4SS acts up you can instead use the ini tweak I mentioned to perform this side of the change.

In other words change the ini + use .esp as normal and it should work and be independent of UE4SS and no longer need it :)

Doesn't seem to be working with the newest OBSE/UE4SS/Oblivion version

I'm confused, will it not work with the UE4SS here on Nexus, does it have to be the UE4SS-RE from the GitHub in the Requirements?

Manual mode (no mod required) in two steps, f.e. make it x6:

      1) edit Altar.ini adding this if you don't want to install the U4SS part of this mod:
      [/Script/UE5AltarPairing.VOblivionInitialSettings]
      DefaultStrengthEncumbranceMult=6.0

      2) also use the .esp, or from console (or using xEdit you can create your own .esp mod changing gamesettings fActorStrengthEncumbranceMult):
      setgs fActorStrengthEncumbranceMult 6

    Hi @Arkelius

Any chance for a max option up to the limit that the engine allows per point of strength perhaps? Would greatly appreciate, thanks.

Provided I have UE4SS (I got it from Nexus instead of GitHub, so I hope that works, too) can I simply install this mod using Vortex, or do I still need to change/add anything manually?

I cannot fix the issue I am having. The game is still sating, I'm overencumbered. I can run around just fine, but that message keeps flashing on the top right, and the little icon is on the bottom right. I did everything your description said to do, but it hasn't helped

    .\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\EncumbranceScaling\Scripts
is that the correct file location for the unreal engine scripts?

as It shows as having the correct 50x encumbrance in game yet I still get over-encumbered..
ie the override is not working for me..??

how do I do the altar.ini scripting?
ok I found it in your description section...
    hope it works lol... ;-)
