After the quest begins, it can last up to 6 days, each day moving to the next quest stage. You may complete the quest on any day by handing the book over to Martin. You may also read the book on any day. Doing so will give you "Dagon's Corruption", an ability that buffs your Destruction by 20, Blade by 5, Blunt by 5, and grants fire immunity. Your journal entries will also vary based on your path. Here's what to expect each day:
Day 1 Nothing significant happens short of encouraging you to read the book.
Day 2 You'll be cursed with "Ominous Presence", a 20pt Personality debuff and 5pts of Burden.
Day 3 "Ominous Presence" remains. "Dagon's Furnace" will also engulf you in flames dealing 2pts Fire Damage over 10 seconds every 40 seconds. Having "Dagon's Corruption" from reading the book will prevent that damage, but the flames VFX will persist endlessly regardless.
Day 4 "Ominous Presence" becomes the curse of "Insidious Influence", a 40pt Personality debuff, 15pts of Burden, and 3pts of constant Damage Fatigue. The flames of "Dagon's Furnace" persist.
Day 5 "Insidious Influence" remains. "Dagon's Furnace" becomes "Dagon's Crucible", dealing 4pts of Fire Damage over 10 seconds every 40 seconds.
Day 6 "Insidious Influence" turns into "Daedric Damnation", a 60pt Personality debuff, 25pts of Burden, and 6pts of constant Damage Fatigue. "Dagon's Crucible" also roars into "Dagon's Inferno", dealing 6pts of Fire Damage over 10 seconds every 40 seconds.
Completion Carrying on after the 6th day renders no further debuffs. If the buffs from "Dagon's Corruption" and the ongoing flame VFX are worth the trade off, you might choose to take your sweet time completing the quest. If you complete the quest before the 6th day, the debuffs and flames will be removed. If you complete the quest after the 6th day and managed to resist reading the book, thus enduring the worst of the fire damage, you'll be rewarded via "Enlightened". Otherwise, there's no reward beyond a unique final journal entry. "Enlightened" is permanent 5pt buff to Strength & Willpower with 25pts of Feather.
Bonus This quest, while past day 2, will greatly aid in the completion of the Shrine of Namira's quest due to its Personality debuffs.
Not sure how the fog record got touched or how I didn't notice. Went ahead and cleaned that up. Because I reviewed and agree with the purpose of UORP's edit, I implemented/carried over the ownership edit as well. Thanks for the helpful input ✌️
Thanks so much! I've noticed a lot of mods making this 0.000100 fog near value change, I think its just a random side effect from the construction set!
Joking aside, no. At max there's a 25pt Burden. Beyond that, this mod does not touch anything related to weight. I assume you're not carrying 23,191 worth of stuff. I would look at the other mods in your list, especially if they're weight related. Perhaps one rebalances the weight system? Any spell overhauls might be worth looking at too.
There is script conflict between this mod and Mythic Dawn Rising by ColdTyrant. Seems to be easily fixable as both have different begin on mods one onActivate and other onAdd.
I've looked over its description and from what I can tell, that mod's implementation is too sloppy for my tastes. Relies too much on the player following specific instructions to run properly and impedes on the player's vanilla freewill (readability of "Commentaries of The Mysterium Xarxes vol. 2"). Would likely result in false bug complaints for me to deal with so I'd rather avoid that headache.
If it can be more thorough about its implementation (code in way that makes it difficult for the player to break the quests), I might take a look at patching for it. I say might because although I haven't cracked the mod's esp open, I've got a sneaking suspicion that its tendrils run deep into vanilla scripts and quests rather than being as self-reliant as an independent add-on as possible. If that is the case, it would mean simple vanilla updates/bug fixes would be more likely to break the mod, potentially leading to more work on my end.
Alternatively, they're welcome to patch for MXIE instead as it's complete. Due to MXIE's passive vanilla+ nature, additional maintenance needs should be virtually non-existent on their end.
Also, be careful about going to jail or doing any quest that might strip your amor while having that togglable armor spell active. Unless ColdTyrant did extensive testing to see that and implemented a clever workaround for it, I suspect it'll crash your game, every time.
I absolutely love the idea of this mod. Besides making the Xarxes truly evil, it introduces a much more personal element to your character's experiences that I think the game could really use more of. It reminds me of the various nightmare messages you receive when you are becoming a vampire.
I am looking forward to trying it, and I hope to see more mods like this in the future!
So this mod makes it so that the longer you hold on to the book, the more journal notifications pop up about how your character is losing their mind? What does this do exactly. Please
I'm not trying to give away too many spoilers. It also physically affects your player in a variety of ways while you carry it. If you do as the book wants you to do, there will be physical consequences. If you don't do as it wants you to do, there will also be physical consequences.
Shouldn't be any issue in this particular case but thanks for pointing it out as I meant to drag some records over. I'll upload an update to be on the safe side :)
lol How did you manage to get 60 in there? No, I don't think any effects would stack due to Mysterium Xarxes book count. Let me know if you discover otherwise.

Would you please consider preserving the 0.000000 fog near value and carrying over the UORP change of removing the MythicDawn Ownership?Joking aside, no. At max there's a 25pt Burden.
