Excellent mod! However, I've noticed one issue. I'm not sure if it's only affecting my game. If I try to leave Oblivion back through the gate, the game freezes. Entering is just fine but even adjusting load order, I get stuck trying to leave. It's not game breaking. if I'm entering the gate, I'm going to close it anyway. It's just something I noticed if you want to look into it.

This likely has to do with the trigger zones being processed every game tick while the player is touching them. For some reason, the game really doesn't like that when load doors are involved. Without any preventive measures, the game seemed to freeze as if the physics and npc logic were disabled. While creating this mod, I found that preventing the trigger zone from having the player interact with the portal each tick by using a cooldown, tick counter fixed the issue.

I'll try to think about some alternative ways that might work instead.

Strangely enough, I also found that opening then closing the console with the tilde (~) key allowed the game to continue, but I'm not absolutely positive that doing so won't have any unforeseen ramifications!

Do the current modding tools support making the trigger areas smaller? And how do daedra interact with the trigger zones?

The Construction Set for the original Oblivion can be used to scale the trigger zone sizes. Could likely use xedit also. I might end up making them a little larger in the future since the visible boundaries seen in the Construction Set don't seem to be entirely accurate.

The Daedra shouldn't be able to interact with the trigger zones in any meaningful way. The trigger zone onTrigger event has the wording "onTrigger player" and the added "player" argument only allows the player to be responsible for firing the onTrigger event.

That sounds good :) I found that when I approached an Oblivion Gate I loaded into it before I actually reached the gate. The same gate also didn't have any daedra on the outside. But I did later find some Flame Atronachs fighting bandits, so maybe they fell off the cliff nearby.

I think I get it now. Some Oblivion Gates just have their triggers off-centre. They're not too big

Your attempt at scorn only makes you look kinda dumb, because a 10 yr old should be able to reason the point of this mod, which is to add realism and immersion to the gates by adding the functionality to it that is clearly missing.

Why download NBO? Are people that lazy not to go look at real naked women? Why play Oblivion, are people that lazy not to learn how to sword fight demons for real?

I saw at least two videos just after Remastered released where first-time Oblivion players attempted to step into the Kvatch Oblivion Gate just to be mildly disappointed that they stepped through it instead of into it. Naturally, they just needed to rotate and click the gate, but it seemed disruptive to gameplay. Kind of showed how more intuitive it is to step into a portal as opposed to clicking one.

Oblivion released in a world pre Minecraft. Now, everyone has been conditioned by Minecraft to understand, intuitively, that stepping into the portal should be enough, and it should.

Excellent for immersion it seems, but for scholars like myself who want to study the portals themselves, it's rather inconvenient for getting close and scraping a bit of hellish ether off the rim only to end up with a Harrada Root up my ass. Notice I said inconvenient, not unpleasant. I didn't graduate the Arcane University on my merits alone, let's put it that way. Anyway, cool mod.

No clash with Quarentined Oblivion Gates, right ( https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/2376 )

Should be compatible based on the description. The only mods that are likely to need patches will be mods that physically move the existing Oblivion Gates or add new ones.

Are they mapped to the same conditions as the existing gate entries?

Yeah. When the player physically steps into an added trigger zone, it'll just have the player activate the Oblivion Gate, ensuring that any activate scripts on the Oblivion Gate itself are ran correctly. The added trigger zones also have the Oblivion Gates as enable parents, so they'll only be enabled if their associated Oblivion Gate is.

:D That's great! I was worried that maybe it might be possible to duplicate gates by using the volume trigger and click trigger seperately

is it possible for this to activate even if a gate isn't active

It'll be good. The trigger zones have the gates as an enable parent, so if the gates are disabled the trigger zone will also be disabled. I also closed an Oblivion Gate, then attempted to step into the trigger zone with no issues.

First time I played Oblivion ages ago I walked through the Kvatch gate 3-4 times, wondering why I was not being telported. It took me a while to realise I had to press the activation button. Now almost 20 years later, my intuition has finally become manifest. Thanks!
