This is greatly appriciated! There is so much snake oil going around, along with the neverending stream of huge uncommented .ini files. So seeing short list of well chosen variables with clear comments brings a tear to my eye <3
Thank you for your kind words:) I'm glad you found it of use.
I definitely agree. Just depends how you look at it because some people call Ultimate Engine Tweaks snake oil and others say it helped them run their game. I tried my best to stay concise in the scope and value of the mod.
Best regards and please let me know if you run into any issues:)
ArcticGames-san Hello! I'm Japanese and I'm writing English sentences using a translation Sorry if the sentences are strange
First of all, let me say thank you very much! I'm now able to play very comfortably! So let me report on my PC specs, game settings, and performance. It should be helpful for people with similar specs to me. I installed and set up the mod, added notes to Engine.ini, and set DLSS related settings as suggested by the mod author.
--FPS performance-- Indoors and dungeons: FPS 90- Outdoors: FPS 50-80 (I usually play at a 60 FPS limit)
--Game settings-- Motion blur: OFF Reflection: OFF Quality settings: Auto medium Hardware RT: OFF Software RT: High DLSS mode: Performance Frame generation: ON NVIDIA reflex: Enabled + Burst
Frame generation is unavailable using DLSS on a card under a 40-series. This page is a repository of .ini tweaks and mods that helped me achieve a good looking game while remaining stable.
If you have a 40-series, I’d stick with DLSS frame gen unless you encounter performance issues or awful ghosting; in that case swap to FSR and use my tweaks.
At least for 3 series cards this is certainly a solid choice but i would not say its definitive (testing on 3070ti)
The improved FPS and quality in previously poor areas is amazing, but the downside is of course the artifacts and ghosting.
Even with all the methods to improve it, its still quite noticeable (WHEN its noticeable, most of the time you arnt swinging your sword around bruma mountains to make a point haha).
Thankyou for taking the time to explain it, this is certainly an interesting project (and for anything lower than a 3 series a definitive choice).
You would recommend this over switching to DLSS K (from the default C that comes with the game)? Particularly for high 3 series cards? With the INI changes for that preset the ghosting is quite minimal with high visual fidelity. I always assumed (please correct me if otherwise) that switching from DLSS to FR3 (instead of getting a newer version of DLSS) is only a better option if you are on a 2 series or lower.
There is a section in the mod description showing how to swap to Preset K; which is indeed the superior version. The suggested tweaks simply allow cards under 40-series to use FSR frame generation WITH DLSS.
I apologise i must still not understand correctly (I can follow what your saying its just not how i understood this all worked), I thought performing this operation stops the game from using DLSS (as its being replaced with AMD FR3).
I saw your mention of including preset K (im not sure how this is different from manually replacing the preset in the game folder, if there is a difference), but did not (and still dont) understand how it all works?
If we are switching away from DLSS to FR3 how are we at the same time also using DLSS K? (to be clear i have read the other posts but still dont quite understand how we get 'the best of both worlds')
No worries at all! Basically, we're using DLSS's UPSCALING, but replacing only the FRAME GENERATION with FSR. That way we can still get reliable frame generation on cards under 40-series while maintaining visual fidelity and optimization through DLSS. Hope that helps!
haha kind of (I guess if i want to really learn how it all works under the hood a bit better i should watch some you tube videos).
I take your word for it though obviously.
One more question if you dont mind https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/2650
This page also suggests making the change r.NGX.DLSS.AutoExposure=1 for the ghosting, but also suggests adding r.NGX.DLSS.Preset=7, is this to do with forcing DLSS K (as in a different way rather then going through the control panel, since this page also suggests to simply replace C with K in the game folder)?
The .ini tweak will definitely help. Use the improved FSR in the “requirements” tab.
I use DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling, NVIDIA cards only) because it’s optimized for my card, but I can’t use frame-gen with my sub-40 series card (RTX 3080) so I found this middle ground combining DLSS with FSR to be a perfect balance between maintaining visuals, performance, and stability enhancement.
TL;DR Yes, use the .ini and FSR tweaks in the requirements:)
im sorry im slow so i need to ask, i have a 3060ti and im completely clueless as to difference between dlss and fsr, furthermore i've been led t believe my whole life the only thing nvidia does better is AI, why then would fsr be better ? genuine question i care not for either company i just want max fps on best settings for my 3060 ti on 1080p, atm im getting stable 60 with dlss quality and everything on ultra, shadows are on high and reflections are on medium, software lumen high screen space reflections on motion blur is off, vsync is enabled in both nvidia cpanel and ingame also i would like to ask if possible what is ghosting and when do i encounter it, if i didnt even see it to know what it was i presume it will never be my problem ? sorry for low iq questions
FSR is faster (plus, it has Frame Generation option that makes things even more fast, while FG for DLSS doesn't work from the box in Oblivion Remastered), but a little uglier and "ghostier". Ghosting is what you see on the main screenshot: it's those silhouettes that remain on screen after quickly moving objects. The "ghostiest" area in OR is mountains around Bruma. Go to the main gate of Cloud Ruler Temple at day and look at the world around, you'll see these stripes and shadows and cubes in the sky when you move the camera.
But if you don't have any of that, you're a happy man :)
Hey, thank you for your reply, ive watched the video in the description here, ive followed his steps and it increased my fps and performance tho it is visually noticable, ill try to install ur mod now and ill let u know how it goes, im kinda interested in the technics of all of this more then playing the game itself :D
Hey! Yes, messing with settings to get it right is super fun LOL, as soon as I found some fixes I went right to making this page. You're basically using DLSS (NVIDIA), but injecting FSR's (AMD) frame gen algorithm into it, allowing you to use DLSS + frame gen on cards like yours and mine.
You can most likely turn DLSS to Performance and follow my transformer guide to see no visual fidelity loss with improvement to FPS. Make sure to turn V-sync OFF in-game, but ON in the NVIDIA Control Panel. It helps frame pacing when its driver-level.
The modding community is great, most people are willing to answer questions; and no, yours are not low IQ at all:)

That mod fixed my FSR ghosting.
