If you get the time I'd love a version that makes it so the 100% chance is only active when the skeleton key is in your inventory if this is possible? So that if you don't have the skeleton key then there's still a chance they can break when using the auto-lockpick (as it normally is).
I tend to only grab the skeleton key after I've completed the thieves guild questline, so its like before that point my character sucks at lockpicking.
I actually use this mod BECAUSE I have the skeleton key.
I play on master. (Yes, Vanilla master.) And using the skeleton key 400 times per door raises your security really fast. Know what that means? You're getting xp, and you arent getting stronger. Not just that, but you arent actually doing *anything* because you can open any door with even low security. Enemies get stronger as you level up, so if you're gaining xp in things that dont make you stronger.. You're actually getting weaker. This mod reduces that amount of xp gained drastically, as you only do one attempt.
"And using the skeleton key 400 times per door raises your security really fast" There is no way to screw up with the skeleton key. There is no skill to be had. "Enemies get stronger as you level up, so if you're gaining xp in things that dont make you stronger.." No matter what you do, lockpicking doesnt do anything because you can't fail with the skeleton key. Every time you use lockpicking you get slightly weaker, skill or not.
It's stupid easy to pick locks, there's a Skeleton Key like you said, and there's even spells that unlock. The fact that people even want this is embarrassing lol.
It's one of the most obtuse and stupid lockpicking minigames in RPG history. And that's not only my opinion, google 5 mins about the worst lockpicking minigames ever. And you wonder how people don't want to deal with it?
ch4os1337 My security is already at level 100. I dont want to sit through a stupid minigame.
People get the skeleton key and dont want to play the minigame, and they dont want to sit there spamming 'auto' 10 times because even at 100 security average locks fail several times.
ch4os1337, just beat Oblivion for the first time in 15 years, but gtf outta here. Say what you will, but lockpicking in this game isn't fun. It's just annoying.
@ignorhunter I actually really enjoy the lockpicking minigame in Oblivion... when i'm using a gamepad... but using the mouse to navigate and move the tumblers is ABSOLUTELY a hassle... but I wouldn't call it the "most obtuse and stupid" minigame
@ch4os1337 I want this because its an alternative when I'm using M+K or not playing a mage. Let people play the way they want... It's a single-player game... as long as people are enjoying it, what does it matter?
People want to skip minigames which is fair, but people saying this is one of the worst ones? That's pure copium. Dudes will play guess the word in Fallout and lap it up alongside guess which degree out of 180 the pick needs to be in and pretend those are better. What a laugh.
