If something isn’t working, make sure to check for conflicts with other mods first, then make sure UE4SS is working correctly and that the mod is in the correct folder.

Changes v 2.3: Fixed compass jitter and incorrect direction indoors. Fixed first-person camera jitter in the Alt version. ---
Work in progress:
- Fix sprint movement (currently, the player only moves forward and the free camera doesn't work while sprinting); - Fix horse movement (when moving sideways on horseback, the horse turns instead of moving straight); - Fix compass behavior (the compass jitters when running in different directions and rotating the camera); - Fixed! - Fix automove (free camera is disabled during automove; the player moves only forward and is controlled by the mouse cursor).
If you have any more suggestions or ideas, feel free to share them!

Thanks to elder4mk, saorix2, ronaldmcdonald1999 and enragedbard for the videos you shared. I can’t believe my mod has become this popular - huge thanks to everyone for the support!
When I load up the game whilst in an interior cell, this mod is not active. If I run all the way out back into the open world, it becomes active. Any idea on how I can get it to activate regardless of whether I am outside or not. Using main version
Once I encountered a similar issue when I enabled the UE4SS console and was testing mods. Changing the view or using actions (pressing block, attack, or spell casting keys) usually instantly restored the camera.
In 99.99% of cases, I don't have any issues when loading in an interior cell, so this is more like a UE4SS performance/overload issue, in my opinion.
It seems pretty constant. But I'll try doing the things you mentioned and see if it corrects itself. Never happens in any "outside" area. Never in exterior cells
Okay so loaded back in game (in an interior..) Mod was not active. Casted a spell and instantly crashed. Removed this mod and went back in, casted spell and no crash. Tested Alt version and it still doesn't work for me loading into interior cell. But doesn't crash when I cast a spell. Of course the moment I go into an exterior cell it starts working
lol, great solution to solve the issue! Did you try other buttons - attack, block? Seems like someone else also reported occasional crashes during spellcasting, but they were one-off instances - everything worked fine afterwards. I haven't looked into the possible cause yet.
Did you give a second attempt to cast a spell or just deleted the mod right away? Check your log. Are there any errors in it?
Attacking was fine, blocking, sheathing and un sheathing was fine. No crash, but also did not re correct the camera behavior. I removed it and tried the alternative version. But I could try as soon as possible to re-enter the main version, see if I can reproduce the crash, and get the log to you
Have you tried the new version? I made some changes to the camera behavior in the code - it should be more stable now. Also, the crashes during spellcasting should be fixed.
Thank you for the new version! And I deff did update =] Too good of a mod to not track. Haven't had a chance yet to see if I'm still plaugued by the same issue
Does this lock the camera only when in combat? I'm looking for something like that. Free camera with or without a weapon drawn that locks itself when you enter combat.
I can corroborate that I am also having the previously reported issue of jittery camera in first person, as if the compass jitter is tied to the first-person camera somehow. I also have been having an issue where my character themself gets stuck facing Left and I cannot move the camera. The jittering problem is only present on 2.1, however 2.2 still locks my character to facing Left. This was not happening prior to the new patch
From what I gather, these issues arise when using the Camera Utilities mod alongside it. Which is a shame because that mod is phenomenal
hi, i love you mod. Is there any news regarding this? - Fix compass behavior (the compass jitters when running in different directions and rotating the camera); Is there any news regarding this?
Sorry, I haven’t had the time to fully dive back into this issue yet. So far, all attempts to make the compass work properly indoors have been unsuccessful.
It seems that each level has its own rotation relative to the world map. The default compass somehow took the player's rotation into account and, through that, likely adjusted itself to match the level's orientation. But with this mod, the compass starts to jitter.
If I disable player rotation influence when calculating the compass direction, the jitter disappears - but then in interiors, the compass no longer accounts for the level's rotation. I still don’t understand how this part works or how to make the compass stable and always point in the correct direction.
This mod could completely transform the gameplay experience! Imagine the freedom and fluidity of a third-person perspective like the camera angel in 3RD AVOWED – it would make combat feel way more immersive and natural. You’d get to experience every fight from a dynamic angle, adding a new layer of excitement and strategy. Trust me, it’s a game-changer! This mod isn’t just a tweak; it’s an upgrade to the entire combat system.
Mod was working fine, then all of a sudden I started to get a weird stutter when moving left, right, and backwards. Had to uninstall because restarting game didn't help
What do you expect me to do? My camera works just fine - absolutely no issues no matter what I do. Did you check the UE4SS log? Did you check if this mod conflicts with anything else you have installed?
Alright, I should mention that I haven't updated the game yet and I'm still using the old UE4SS version from April 28 (and probably won't update, since all mods work perfectly as is).
I'll update the game and let you know if there are any issues with the camera.
UPD: The game updated - still no issues with first person camera.
I don't know what your looking at but i'm looking at some jank first person squiggleness when you use any button other than forward. strafing with A or D and its seizure city. Granted yes I got this mod to not play in first person BUT. something messed up definaltey hit these.
It happened on 2.1 alt and 2.2 alt, When you move the mouse while moving it jitters, strafing or moving backwards it jitters.it really looks similar to how the compass acted, almost like the compass jitter got tied into the camera somehow.
I know this is separate mod but with the game update I also noticed the movement mod you have made my character move like a snail all of a sudden, no update to the mod or anything. I haven't tried recent 4.0 option yet
I take back about alt 2.1. the only version I find I can get the jitters is 2.2 alt. every other version is smooth. 2.2 Main smooth camera and compass 2.2 Alt Jitter cam smooth compass
Hope this helps narrow down some code. I like Alt version for the fact that when casting spells/arrows using Main version if your not somewhat facing the direction you're aiming the animation and targeting is sorta jank (probably just a UE thing) I guess thats been fixed since the version I had before. noice Best of luck!
Thanks! Now I understand that the issue is only in the alternative version 2.2.
Since in version 2.2 the compass works unstably indoors, I currently recommend using version 2.1 until I finally figure out how to make the compass work smoothly and always show the correct direction. I think I know what’s wrong with the new alternative version - I’ll fix it when the new compass is ready.
And yes, thanks for your feedback on new PSARS version - I’m really happy with how it turned out! :)
I've also just found out (I've been chasing this crash since the update) that the mod No Infinite Chase (UE4SS ver) causes stable versions to have the jitter and crash game if you transfer zones. No clue how or why but if I enable that mod, jitter and crashes, disable it, fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's not really an issue because they have a normal ESP version that works with this mod fine. But anyone experiencing jitters on a known stable camera, the UE4SS version of no infinite chase conflicts in a bizarre way.
I don't understand your request. Why not just use the main version of the mod?
The main version always uses a free camera and enables lock-on ONLY during attacks. The alternative version restores the classic combat camera behavior (character rotate with the camera while their weapon is drawn).
If you want completely free camera movement during combat without lock-on, it’s easy to tweak yourself:
Just find this line in alternative version:
if player.bInCombatStance then SetCameraBehavior(true, false, false)
And replace it with:
if player.bInCombatStance then SetCameraBehavior(true, false, true)
My bad, as I didn't explain my request thoroughly. I am using the Alt version. What I'm referring to when you are stationary with your weapon drawn and your character will turn with the camera. Perhaps I am mistaken but I think in previous versions you could rotate the camera with your weapon drawn, standing still, so you could, for instance take a screenshot head-on with your weapon drawn.
I don`t know how to explain, but on the last update, the jitter in the compass was fixed, but now it is rotated 90deg to the right. Went back to the old version.
Explain in more detail, do you mean that the markers do not indicate the correct position?
I just checked again, according to the map the character is facing due north. The compass also shows that the character is facing north. All markers show the correct direction and even the enemies are marked correctly.
When i removed the compass direction from the character direction, the compass actually rotated to the right, causing all the markers to show the wrong direction and it was easy to get confused. I fixed it and now the compass works perfectly. So if you have some issues, I need more details.
I tested a little more and only happens indoors, when i`m looking at N on the compass (north), in the map I`m looking to the right, so every marker appears 90deg to the left. I`m going to try to take some screenshots later.
I think I finally saw it. I tried it in the Market District and in some rooms (not all), the compass really deviates, but not by 90 degrees. Hmm, I need to figure out why this happens.
Having same issue; Red compass markers are not aligned right. Standing in front of a door with a red marker but the compass makes it seem like it's "to the side" in the wall or something
All my attempts to fix this have failed so far. Levels are rotated relative to the global map, and I haven’t figured out how to adjust the compass properly. Use the old version for now.
