Hi all, I've put together a mod page that will be where I upload and check for any new requests for weapon mesh swaps! You'll find it here, so feel free to check it out! it's got all the ones I've worked on so far, and once I get around to making armor swaps, I'll be making a separate mod page for those :)
This is a little unrelated but since you seem to be adept at manipulating files for this game esp regarding weapon assets I was wondering if you knew how I could get this into the remaster or if you wanted to create it yourself?
I am wearing Imperial palace armor and it would be cool to have a gladius like roman weapon
heya! I haven't really been doing anything with NIF files at the moment; converting them to useable things is just a little out of my realm of expertise right now. I'm not against looking into it, but I just need to find the time to do so! So it'll be a while. If you find someone else who is able to recreate or otherwise convert it into a UE5 compatible file, let me know! I'd be happy to swap it in if you find one :) otherwise, it'll be on the backburner for me to look into eventually~
Totally understand! Honestly I don't know what I don't know since I have never created mods before but I have been exposed to coding and with AI that shouldn't be an issue tweaking things though idk if this is something feasible for a novice like me to look into or if this is a big thing?
I am however having an issue where the weapon has some broken textures, especially around the ridges of the shaft, and the overall metal is very shiny and tends towards a blackish colour, none of which is present on the 2handed model.
Not sure, though I've definitely noticed the shiny bit on my game as well. It was my first attempt at these, and I think I replaced the texture with this one instead of just pointing it to the original, so I'll have to try it again and see if it fixes it! I'll keep you posted :)
yup, it was just an artifact of me doing my first swap weirdly. I've reuploaded the mod and it should look better now! There's some others in the pinned comment too, if you want to check out what other people have requested :)
heya! unfortunately, I'm pretty sure all the relevant files for the remaster are packaged into .pak/.ucas/.utoc files, which are all UE 5 files. I don't think there's a way to just do a simple file swap ): it can be a bit daunting to set up, but there's a good guide to making some simple changes in this mod's description! I believe weapons and armor (I could be wrong on armor) are slightly different, in that you only want to export the mesh, not the armature, but otherwise it should follow relatively the same process!
the biggest thing to keep in mind is that you need UE 5.3.2 to repackage your assets. that's all assuming you want to make your own mod, though, so if not you might have to gather the details of what you are looking for and ask around if someone would be willing to make one for you! best of luck <3
Depends on what you're looking for; I'm not sure I could easily swap the animations for the longsword to use the shortsword ones (though that'd be an interesting project I might mess with), but I could make the shortsword use the longsword model! It would have the shortsword stats, though, unless I modified those to be the same with an ESP, which I haven't tried my hand at yet.
Thank you so much for this! this was the first thing i thought of when seeing this weapon was that it was way too short and looked more like a 1 handed weapon lol i also second mcfool55 in that shortsword animations are cooler especially since it has a thrust would love to see a mesh swap possibly for shortsword of order to use "Debaser" for some cool gladius style thrusting
agreed wholeheartedly on the shortness thing, that's why I did it in the first place, haha! I posted a mod for both of your guys' sword changes too, if you wanted to take a look!
Brooo this was exactly what I was trying to mod myself! Thanks for curing that headache however I would still like to attempt other projects. I'm stuck trying to repackage my files back into a pak file with unreal engine. I've been following the guide by MikhailTeslov but for some reason when I repackage they just come out as uasset files? I also see 3 pak files however they are massive files leading me to think they are packing more than intended or they're different files altogether.
TLDR, how did you repackage your files back to pak files?
EDIT: I Solved it. I was using the wrong Unreal Engine..
I'm not sure, I don't wanna step on any toes by porting things without permission. I'll shoot the author a message, but they haven't been active since 2023, so it's probably a long shot :/ I'll ask though!

Any idea what's up?
is there a way to do it with "loose file" like in skyrim ?
i would be interested to swap a deluxe armor set for some clothing, but i dont know if simply swapping the loose file would suffice
im completely lost in modding oblivion, it seems completely different, with unknown tools :(

and then when you package the mod, you only need to copy over the .paks that are the chunk you assigned, so you don't need the chunk 0 paks!
good call linking the other modder's profile, their guide is well put together :)
