Top 50 and Files of the Month launched

  • Comment
The Top 50 and Files of the Month features are now available for public viewing on Fallout 3 Nexus. These lists help to provide a list of the more popular and well-made mods available for Fallout 3.

Please remember that the Top 50 works off of a baysesian mathematical formula that is very different from ranking mods based on their total votes + total rating. Only files with 25 ratings or more are accepted.

I had hoped to delay the launch of the top 50 until I had gotten around to completely reworking the rating system for both FO3Nexus and TESNexus, which I have now decided will happen, but with my time tight at the moment I thought it best to release it in it's current form to help people find the more popular mods out there. The Top 50 will be upgraded to the Top 100 once there are enough mods and ratings to fit the criteria.

Congratulations to all the mods that have made the Files of the Month hall of fame already before I even officially launched it!

Good to see that the staff are looking at alternative ways to allow us to access the ever increasing database of content to the site. I've never seen such an explosion of user content come so fast so soon for any game.

At one point while using the tracking tool I ended up tracking so many mods that it started to undermine its very own purpose, I still use it naturally but I restrict what I track and try use the search functions to narrow down what I'm after.

But that tool also suffers from the fact that some modders don't pay enough tension or due care to how there mod is presented to the public, weather be lack of descriptions or file name/management.

I think a gentle but firm hand should come into play to guide modders to at least provide a minimum amount of information to accompany there files, and or file ordering within there allocated slots.

I actually logged on trying to find a way to contact you guys and suggest starting this up. And low and behold, you beat me to the punch. Outstanding! This is a great way to keep track of the top work. Thanks for getting this up and running.
