About this mod

Cosmetic horse overhaul, adds summonable horses

Permissions and credits
Welcome to the 61st installment of my Oblivion Immersion Series.

Welcome to Horse Oriented Riding System Extension.  H.O.R.S.E. if you will.  Do rein in your expectations though - despite the name, this is primarily a cosmetic mod.  But hay, let's trot out the features and ruminate on what this mod offers.

Do you desire a horse of a different color?  Now the horses for sale at Bruma and Skingrad come in dun and dapple grey.  These colors are cosmetic only - their stats are identical to the paint and bay horses.  Now Seabiscuit can look unique!  But are those the only changes to the vanilla horses?  Neigh!  Not wanting this to be a one-horse race, all other basic horses are re-textured with assets from AlienSlof.  Unique horses (ex. Weynon Priory, Blossom, Shadowmere, the Unicorn) now also have new textures to give them unique coats.

Foals may now be found at stables too.  What else do you think they are doing while horsing around when put out to pasture?

Or perhaps you are a mage who yearns for a mighty steed to match your magicka?  Calindil at the Imperial City sells apprentice-level spells to summon a variety of magical mounts based on ESO: the skeletal horse, Frostmare, Nightmare Courser, and Auroran Warhorse.  You and Mr. Ed can go riding off into the sunset without having wrangle with the ranch, comfortably straddling the desire for lore-friendly steeds.  For 300 seconds anyway, until Secretariat needs to be re-summoned.  The real workhorse of these spells is the summoning script made available at the Oblivion Construction Set Wiki, archived at the UESP - always a true stable of resources for modders.

Are you disappointed by the invisible reins, martingale, and breast collar in vanilla?  Saddle up for these features being included with a modified vanilla mesh.

And now to close the barn door, Legion horses have new features like caparisons, reins, and even more coat colors.

How many more dreadful horse puns can I cram into this description?  Blame sevencardz and Immersive Horses for the idea.

Requirements
===========

Oblivion Version 1.2.0416

Installation Instructions
===================

Copy contents into your Oblivion data folder.

Uninstallation Instructions
=====================

Delete the added contents

Optional Files
===========

An optional download is available if you want to have saddlebags with the reins and breast-collar.  Install and allow to overwrite.  May be used as a standalone too.

H.O.R.S.E. - Manually Placed Summons removes the summoning spells and instead adds the summonable mounts to lore-appropriate places: Fort Linchal, Cloud Top, Lake Arrius, and Dragonclaw Rock.  Because they are manually placed, they are set to respawn and have a health boost to improve survivability.  Use in place of the main version.

Incompatibility
============

Will be incompatible with mods that alter the vanilla horses, including Weynon Priory Alive.  Load Weynon Priory Alive after this mod if you prefer the horse cosmetics in that mod.  Mods that add new horses, such as the mods by zira, should work just fine.  Other horse texture mods will be incompatible.

Likely but unconfirmed (I can't test it without owning the Horse Armor DLC) with Simple Horse Utilities - Saddlbags and Follow-Wait Commands by PushTheWinButton.  Likely but unconfirmed compatiblity with Horse Gameplay Overhaul by qwertyasdfgh.  Technically not compatible with JK - Horse Tack by jitkinge because both change the saddles, but to run both, simply install JK - Horse Tack and allow it to overwrite the saddle mesh, and the rest of H.O.R.S.E. can be run without issue.

Known Issues
===========

The NPC dialogue for selling horses in Bruma and Skingrad will still refer to their vanilla colors.

Because of the script I used, the summoned horses will leave corpses upon being killed rather than disappear like other summons and defy the one-summon rule of the vanilla game.  They can be spawned inside cities and interiors, which can cause bugs like getting partially-lodged inside walls.

The martingale/breast-collar and reins have minor clipping issues.

Troubleshooting
=============

Feel free to come to me with questions or issues and I will help as best as I can.  That said, please bear in mind that I am a novice modder and may not be able to offer much in the way of assistance.
