I'm having an issue using NorthernUI with Put it in its Place - Enhanced Grabbing. If i use Z to grab things, PiiP works, but if i use LB to grab, will not work.
I'm aware of this one, but I can't exactly recommend it. I used it for a time, but found that it eventually became unstable on long-running saves: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45740
It's a shame, because it's entirely customizable and you can do some amazing things with it.
As for adding such a feature to this UI, sadly I feel it's beyond the scope of this project. However, anyone is welcome to branch off of this and give it a try if they feel they're capable. :)
One thing I can't help but notice is that although the inventory font is more readable, it breaks the classic TES4 "soul" and makes it look like a spreadsheet rather than a game UI. Is there any way possible to change that font back to vanilla? I found a UI font mod that does the job very well but couldn't figure out how to install it
Hi, thanks for the comment. It's been a while since I've worked on this, but I do believe all the fonts are easily swappable by editing the name references in your oblivion.ini. The font referenced in the .xml files is number 3, which corresponds to Data/Fonts/Tahoma_Bold_Small.fnt. If you replace that with Data/Fonts/Kingthings_Regular.fnt you should get a result closer to what you seek. (do make a backup of your oblivion.ini first, though.)
There's a huge caveat to this though: I have not tested this, and the metrics for sizing and spacing in the mod's included .xml files are optimized for the smaller Tahoma font. In the worst case, you may have to go through each .xml file and play with those metrics in order to line things up properly.
I hope this helps in some way. Maybe at some point I'll revisit this and try to make more of a "fantasy" edition for those who would like it. I really appreciate the feedback!
Hey, I read the sticky on the NorthernUI post and followed the installation instructions to the dot, but why can't I move in-game? I can control the menus fine and my settings fJoystickMove multipliers in my ini settings are 1 or more. Thank you for the great work though
(keyboard+mouse works fine, gamepad only works in menus)
The only thing I can think of is that this sounds close to Steam Input interfering with NorthernUI. If you're using the Steam version, try disabling that feature. I believe this is all mentioned in the sticky though, so you've probably already tried it. Can you give me a little more information, such as operating system, controller type, etc.? I could try to troubleshoot with you if you haven't figured it out by the time you read this. :)
I'm actualy playing on the GOG version because unlike Steam, it has no DRM AND the best part is that it has the 4GB RAM patch built in! I used it for modding many times in the past and I found that it was much more stable than my friend's Steam version out of the box because we both liked to mod and have similar system configurations. I prefer playing non-Steam versions because then I don't have those annoying Steam Input issues Anyway that's besides the point lol so no I don't have Steam running. I have a PS4 controller but I use DS4Windows, so it registers as an Xbox 360 controller in Windows. However, I often use this amazing little software called Moonlight which lets me stream games from my home PC. In this case, the controller is recognized as a plugged-in Xbox360 controller and any PC game with x360 support registers it with no issue at all.
I'm on Windows 10 64bit, have a GTX 1070ti (sadly underpowered GPU nowadays), and a Ryzen 5800X with 16GB of DD4 RAM.
Interesting! I wonder if there's some weird quirk with DS4Windows that doesn't play nicely with NorthernUI itself? This is a longshot and probably won't help, but could you try fiddling withbUse Joystick= in your Oblivion.ini? If it's 1, switch it to 0 or vice versa and see if that resolves the issue. Other than that, I'm not really sure what's going on unless some other software running on your PC is hijacking your gamepad input somehow.
I see. That's disappointing. It doesn't mention that change in the description. I've been looking for a Northern UI compatible mod that does it for ages, & assumed this was it because OG MajorJims UI does. The rest of the changes are worth keeping it though.
Hi! Thanks for pointing this out. I seem to recall this same bug showing up in other UI mods as well. I'll have a look and see if I can mask it at some point. I appreciate you pointing it out, I'd forgotten that this is a thing that sometimes occurs with UI modifications. :)
My pleasure! I'm glad you're getting some use out of it. If you have any suggestions or notice anything wrong, please feel free to let me know. I play with this personally and I haven't noticed anything amiss yet across hours of testing, but you never know. :D
I think I played a minor role in this case, but I appreciate it nonetheless. Glad that the solution was found through the community being able to work together.

Enjoy yourselves while you close shut the marble jaws of Oblivion!

If not would it be possible to add it as a feature to this mod?

Thanks for your help so far!

One slight issue: When I go to the faction menu, it displays "Next Rank: DUMMY" for any guilds where I have achieved the highest rank.
