For Oblivion modding newcomers and veterans also for people who don't wanna spend the rest of their lives to find long forgotten hints and knowledge. Here you go:

First: Mod Organizer 2 it keeps things sorted and out of you oblivion folder helpful if you just wanna play vanilla for once. Also you can remove anything you don't wanna use anymore just like that, without wondering if your game still can breath after that.

!For CRASH PREVENTION! (THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO USE ENHANCED CAMERA AND A AWARE OF SOME SPECIFIC COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH OBLIVION RELOADED COMBINED that also uses most of these dll's or similar ones...)

New Vegas Anti Crash(It works also for Oblivion), Oblivion Display Tweaks, Oblivion Stutter Remover under post's look at apachi's commentary that works best!, MoreHeap (optional) ,Oblivion Mod Limit Fix, EngineBugFixes, Blue'sEngineFixes, Skybsa doesn't fix but makes modding smoother.

    Streamline
    https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/10400
    !
Without this (or something similar) your game will crash !WILL CRASH! cause even with better usage of ram (through moreHeap and OSR) and more ram in the first place (through 4gb Patch) at some point the bloat will get at you, if it is not cleaned through a method whatever mod or method this is doens't matter as much but this should happen after some play time. Most modern or just good handled games (You can only hope someone looks over your game in development and says ay this engine has some serious issues.. XD) doens't have that problem cause some code in their games handle's the whole resource management hence the name. I don't know for sure if oblivion has a lag, or if it even was programmed for the scope it should have at the end of development, but i guess the procedurally generated world and what was scarcely build in there on miles and miles of landscape tells some story.. nevermind. !For ORC! Something similar is already integrated in that mod.

A really detailed guide for learning and understanding Oblivion modding many technical details, but unless you use a controller i would not suggest using Northern Ui rather use Darnified Ui it is more in the style of the original Game.

Last but not least kudos and great hugs and kisses to this whole community, modder's, developer's, artist, people that came up with idea's and questions, that commented and pointed to bugs and so on and of course bethesda who just said hey just give them the tools and a game that can be modified until it explodes. :D

Special thanks to Nexus cause it holds those passion project's of people still alive to this day.

Without you yes YOU! This game would have never get to this point i have 119+ in Oblivion (1340 or so on Skyrim) mods, textures meshes and scripts could merge and tweak with wrye and tes4edit and have now an Oblivion with aethetics culture from Morrowind and gamplay features from Daggerfall and is a good damn blast. Special thanks to the Oblivifall team.

    Have fun! :)

Is this doable with Vortex or should you use NMM like the OG? I messed up my original installation of the original and everyone looks cool except Imperials and Bretons. Considering switching over to this

Well i can't really tell ya cause i only use Mod Organizer 1/2 for years and for every Bethesda game so far cause there you can't destroy your game installation cause it's all virtual folder's. I remember the old day's when we used obmm and manual installation's OHHH it was horrible if you messed up you had to do all over again cause in time you wouldn't even know anymore what you did. XD

So yeah there are tutorial's about Mod Organizer 2 on youtube and all over Google mostly what you can apply for skyrim works also for oblivion the only acceptions are 4gb Patches, OBSE, OBGE, Reloaded and all thoughs 3rd party tools but you find information about thoughs on they're respective sites.

This is also a very recommended and helpful start for people who just are in search for stability.

It's simply a religion you are preaching guys, I  prefer facts :)

I've always used NMM and later NMM Community Ed. it has never failed me, and it also uses virtual installs - no physical over writings !
My Skyrim SE installation now counts more than 1500 mods, and every thing works as intended...

So please stop being biased towards a specific MM, they are all useful - they just have different flavors :)

      You're being sarcastic, aren't you?
Vortex and NMM are garbage. Even with the unofficial updates to NMM, it still fails at being as efficient as MO2.
Wrye Bash is far better as a mod manager as well in general compared to Vortex and NMM.
Especially when you cannot even generate a bashed patch when using Vortex and NMM, which is essential for Oblivion modding.

You don't really get the my point - do you ?
I could easily claim that NMM is far more every thing...... but I don't, and I really don't care the slightest bit about your prejudices...

It's not up to you or me, to judge or decide which MM different people, for what ever reason prefer to use !

"I really don't care the slightest bit"
Well, thanks for proving to me that you lack the ability to think rationally on these matters, considering how dismissive you are about the fact that NMM and especially Vortex are indeed inferior mod managers.

Тhere is nothing better than Wrye Bash at least because it was created and tailored specifically for Oblivion. No one else simply knows how to work with good old Oblivion. The tenacity with which some people prove the opposite is amazing.

Quick question: Is this less performance-intensive that OCO v2? I would love to save some FPS because v2 tanks my FPS in cities and if this performs better then I'll stick with this one.

It's been closed for several years now, at her discretion I'm assuming. I think she stopped modding altogether.

Presumably that's also why OCO V1 was deleted in the first place. She considered it inferior to V2 and only left the latter up when she left.

Yeah I agree. What's even more strange is that she even kept V1 up for quite a long time before her account was closed too.

What really confuses me is that OCOv2 was last updated YEARS ago and this OCOv1.2 was uploaded in 2023....after she closed her account and this version seems to have less requirements. What am I missing? Is this version better or more stable?

OCOv1 was basically nuska's first attempt at overhauling the face aesthetics. It was still bound by the limitations of the game iirc, such as males and females sharing the same head mesh, so once Blockhead became available, she started work on V2 and I believe she ultimately considered V1 inferior.

This version has less requirements because it is ultimately closer to a face retexture than a full overhaul. Many people prefer it because it's closer to the game's aesthetic than trying to emulate Skyrim's.

Also, the only reason this upload is "newer" as far as upload date is because Nabuda's reuploaded it. Nuska had it up for quite a long time before she closed her account alongside V2, and only had it taken down after she left.

Please don't delete my post this time. I'm not trying to put anyone down, I am trying to provide the latest information, which is in conflict with what you're recommending.

Streamline is ancient and not worth a damn. It may have never even worked.

    Bevilex's modlist is outdated.

Sinitar is a scam artist who doesn't know anything. There is an ESSAY on this written by actually competent mod authors. Never listen to Sinitar.

NVAC never worked for Oblivion, it was only ever placebo. This has been confirmed by an xOBSE dev. I'm not just talking out of my ass.

MoreHeap may or may not be relevant anymore. It's not if you use Oblivion Reloaded Combined.

Oblivion Stutter Remover is also not relevant. It has been superseded by Display Tweaks and Oblivion Reloaded Combined.

Display Tweaks, the engine fixes, skybsa, these are all good mods! Use those. Just don't use the others, and don't listen to sinitar.

I am here to add additional credit to Raven's claim.  Only guides on the nexus that should be recommended right now are Dispensation OCMG and Through the Valleys - PushTheWinButton's Vanilla Plus Modding Guide.  There is also Glory of Cyrodiil guide which educates you on more technical aspects of optimization with no hear say involved.

Everything is fine guys i will look into it and update the sticky post in time. It will make the experience better for others and that is what i care most about. :)

@raven Can we please stop talking about sinitar and his sin's to humanity? I'm on your side about people that behave like ''this'' (move some letter's and you get a better word for it!) but better not give them more attention through the reawekening of the whole subject and build old frontiers a new.

Besides the only reason i linked it was for the library (mod's on that list) please don't follow that guide make your own decision's, thanks people!

Sinitar is a terrible person and a con man, and knows absolutely nothing about modding, and has insulted several others, myself included for simply stating the benefits of Skyrim SE over Skyrim LE.
He literally links Dispensation's outdated and no longer available Bash Tags mod, recommends BOSS over LOOT when its masterlist is outdated and inferior, blames the engine over poorly made mods.
His recommended mods are a general assortment of what he found cool, not what makes a stable game.
If you want a large set of mods that have been curated by an actual Oblivion modder, look up OCMG by Dispensation.

Stutter remover is irrelevant if you are using anything built with moderately new hardware and actually causes issues. I'm running a MSI gaming laptop built in 2021 without having it installed and with just the latest version of the game and no mods installed and the game crashed zero times in a many hour session with no stuttering. After I installed it as a requirement for other mods I had constant random crashes. After I removed it I had no issues. The only REAL patches that I would consider relevant would be one that helps with muti core systems and a 4gb helper because these games were only meant to use two cores at best and 2gb ( Oblivion code was written to run on a system with only using these specs as a base specs :

      • OS: Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows XP 64-Bit.
      • Processor: 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent.
      • Memory: 512 MB.
      • Graphics: 128 MB Direct3D compatible video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver.
      • DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c.
      • Hard Drive: 4.6 GB.

I have this mod loaded last in my load order and can't get the new textures to appear, but the khajiit face markings show up while using vanilla textures. What did I goof up?
Edit: Nevermind, got SkyBSA and now everything's good haha

Thanks for uploading this! I've had OCOv1 on my hard drive for years now but its nice having an upload ready online. I've always preferred the look of version 1's khajiit waaay more over the version 2 kind. It's a shame that some NPCs always end up having awful face tints with version 1, else I would be using it.. my modding knowledge is not good enough to fix the NPC issues.

I do appreciate your upload for this version, I dunno if I prefer it over 2, I do however wonder if it'd be possible to mix the two, and have something akin to a 1.5 version without the need for Blockhead. I really appreciate the work ShadeMe has done but Blockhead is so glitchy.

What would be great is a seamless version. I was working on one while I was modding Oblivion but lost interest since majority of mods cater to version two. I'm not a big fan of the Skyrim-like races.

Wonderful to see this reposted!  I always held onto my copy of the old OCO even as v2 eclipsed it, so having the old version back around is great for those who prefer it but couldn't get it until now.

I second this. I like more simplistic approach OCO v1 has with faces compared to v2. Latter has too samey look with every face, while former still keeps facial features original faces had.
