Gave this one a try, but it caused a CTD every time I tried to enter the IC Marketplace. Duplicated the problem numerous times, just to be sure. I figure it's probably conflicting with the Harvest mod.

There is a much better mod than this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/50199?tab=description
This mod makes the Nirnroots like in skyrim (You can actually hear them from a distance.)

I'm just shocked how unattending (?) (unobservant(?)) the players are ) I heard the sound the very first time i played Oblivon 1.1.115. I mean - how you people can even play an RPG or finish the quests if you don't even pay attention to such things... *facepalm*

you have to be 1meter away so not really unobservant silly goose. good for people (like me) with flora overhauls where its hidden in 2 metres of high grass ;)
think of that nextime before looking like a salty kid :p

Still wasn't very loud for me so I edited the file to increase the attenuation distances by a factor of 6 and extracted the sound file from sounds.bsa and put it in the sound/fx/ambient folder. My next step was to use audacity to turn the gain up- make the sound file itself louder but it turned out I didn't need to do that.

That's fairly technical for a noob like myself. Is it possible to do what you have done so you can eavesdrop on npc's or hear creatures lurking in the surrounding areas?

Yeah, it makes the nirnroots louder, but that doesn't seem to improve the distance that you can hear them from. It just makes them louder once you get right on top of them.

...darn, I never endorsed this mod!? Shame over me!
Dung_beetle, thank you very much! Nirnroots are not always good to hear, so this ia a very helpful mod.
I use it for almost 2 years now, and I must admit I had surely missed some nirnroots without it! (especially inside houses!^^)

I still have to go within 1-2 meters from nirnroot to hear anything.

This actually restores the sound of Nirnroot, but it's still not loud enough for me - I can be like max 1 meter away from that plant to still hear it.

When I first started playing Oblivion, Nirnroot had a sound, which could be heard a mile away.
But after I downloaded DLCs and Mods and patches, the sound disappeared.

Damn, how I wish to get the original loudness back.

Very useful for indoors Nirnroots- you can typically hear one upstairs from you when you enter a building, as long as it's in the same cell, and it also draws attention to Nirnroots hidden behind rocks and such.
