using Better Cities an random Anvil guard from the new docks area decided to go on a rampage slaughtering all cats on the docks, then he got ganged to death by his own colleagues the wall archers came down to pepper him with arrows. It was alternate start and hey free guard chainmail at start for me, RIP the cats, F. I can assume only the AI of guards that are native to that city got modified and not the new set of guards that spawn to patrol the dock area that gets added by Better Cities.
Well I installed the mod and I must say I'm disappointed.
There are many more cats than rats. And even when they get together, cats rarely chase rats. I just saw a moment when cat and rat walked on opposing direction and just passed by calmly.
It's much more common to see cats chasing each other and fighting. Maybe for territory? I saw a few cats be killed by other cats.
At least guards didn't bother with them.
I'll keep the mod. It missed the chasing but at least gives more life to cities.
If you had seen in real life Cats and rats together, you'd know that sometimes cats are much more lazy and unconcerned about rats or any other animal that the mith says. Yeah!, Cats do sometimes hunt rats and even birds, but are not all the time chasing down every living thing that moves on the ground, only if they are really hungry (rarely these days when it's strange if there's not somebody feeding them), or if they are playing, which they also do sometimes!.
For those who noticed it too, I was able to get the guard captains to stop attacking the rats, and thus inciting a riot among their own ranks, I went in with tes4edit and added the catfaction to the rat faction, I don't know if this will stop the cats from hunting them [and I haven't yet seen the cats attack the rats, even without the edits, in my limited testing; but, I looked at the scripts for the cats and it doesn't seem they check faction first.] I've been trying to get the cat ingredients to show up on their corpses, but I've not been able to do that so far. [I went so far as to remove the leveled lists, and add the ingredients to their loot list, but when you activate a corpse, nothing happens, inventory doesn't even open.]
I decided to uninstall this mod since I felt it was making my game crash due to too many npcs in a single cell, but once I did I couldn't load my game anymore. Please add uninstall instructions
I loved this mod, because I like making cats purr! It was a great compliment to that other mod where you get cat companions with bells on their necks. Those don't purr though.
But I had to uninstall this one. The problem with this mod is that is makes the game unplayable for anyone who needs to sneak. If there are rats around, the eye is always bright! So being in the thieve's guild is out of the question.
Also the guards still run down and kill cats. Otherwise, great mod.

It's sad he himself says the original is better, and also more update. It'd be better to create a plugin instead of change the whole mod.
