Oblivion rough install guide
Showing a new face in Town :) In this vid I start with showing the effect of the_philanthropy's OFF-Optimized Facegen Files after which I start a new to show the result of MidnightVoyager's Beautiful People. After this I use the console command "showracemenu" to show SOME of the many new options I have to give myself a new face after which I change my avatar from a redguard into a mystic elf, make a save with the console still open and reload this save to give me this mystic elf in game after which I make a new save, leave the game and use Wrye Bash to give it the face I want it to use. Then there is a last look at my new faceĀ - and low res body :)
With this vid I'm starting Chapter 6 in which I will give myself and all NPC's a new face and body with suitable clothes. In Oblivion you find your avatar and many NPC's which all have a FACE and a BODY. In this vid I'm changing my default FACE with the_philanthropy's OFF-Optimized Facegen Files and MidnightVoyager's Beautiful People and in the next I have a look at my default BODY replacer. As always, before installing anything, make sure you have back ups of all the files about to be overwritten. I start with downloading both OFF and BP. As a remark here, in 2006 Ren uploaded his Beauty Pack on the Nexus, in 2008 we got MidnightVoyager's Beautiful People - Final version - which combined Rens Beauty Pack with many other hair and eye replacers and in 2016 there was Ren's Beauty Pack Expanded Compilation which added many more. Since I do not need all these extra's to make my avatar I decided to stick with BP which is more than enough for me. If I examine my downloaded OFF folder it looks very bad so I go to its data folder and make a zip file of only its meshes and textures which I use for my OMOD, also making a back up in a Default OMOD. In the Beautiful People folder I remove the Thieves Arsenal Eye Fix which you only need if you use scruggs' Thieves Arsenal and then make a zip file of the rest which I use for my OMOD andĀ - of course - I also made a backup OMOD file. In OBMM I first installed OFF, used Wrye Bash to make a new patch and had a look ingame to see all's well, after this I installed BP and had another look. While ingame I used the console command "showracemenu" to change my avatar from a redguard into a mystic elf, made a save with the console still open and reloaded this save which gave me this mystic elf in game after which I made a new save, left the game and used Wrye Bash to give it the face I want it to use. As a suggestion, on the Nexus you go to the "Saved Games" tab in the Files\Categories section where you find many player-made faces you can use by downloading a saved game to your Documents\mygames\oblivion\saves folder and then use Wrye Bash to import this faces in your save game. To conclude this, there are MANY face and body replacers available so before choosing you should think on what's the BEST for YOUR PARTICULAR PLAY STYLE. As an example, I'm not a city dweller but if I was I would love to see the NPC's having OCO2 faces, if I was one of those interested in Razorwire's Animated Torture Devices I would go for a super detailed body but in this install my avatar will be testing huge dungeons where all NPC's wear armor so I'm mostly interested in having a smooth and stable gameplay which I know to be guaranteed if I use MidnightVoyager's Beautiful People. My other motivation for NOT using OCO2 is that I want my avatar to have a Ren's Mystic Elf body - which is part of the BP download - and since both OCO2 as BP claim that you can not use them together there was little choice here.
