Spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot why that command failed (only mine was going to be set to a million). Encumbrance sounded like it should have been the buzzword, but that failed. Eventually gave up and grabbed this mod.
for those that get file format is not recognized, that's because its not an archive but the .esp file itself. just download it manually, copy it to the data folder and activate the plugin in either the mod manager of your choice or the data files tab on the pre game menu.
Download manually. It's an unpacked esp. Add the esp to a folder named exactly like the mod, zip the folder and import with your mod manager or simply download manually and drag 'n' drop the esp into the game's Data folder.
Need this to increase carryweight with leveling mods that automatically set derived statistics.
Quick tip for anyone planning on using this, it does still work, and it works almost flawlessly. if you carry *way* too much stuff, the items at the bottom of your inventory will seem to start disappearing. You'll still have them, but need to free up space first. This is very noticeable with transcendent sigil stones, which seem like they disappear. This is an engine bug with oblivion and apparently it applies to all containers. It seems to be greatly exacerbated when you have lots of armor/weapons with over 100 Condition from the expert armorer perk. Suffice to say, don't repair stuff you won't use above 100 unless you're training and are going to sell the stuff fast, and don't just grab all the crap you can unless you're going to sell it within a reasonable timeframe. I started getting this bug at around 10,000 weight capacity, it can be 'cured' by just dumping all your junk.

A little different from just being able to carry more don't you think?
There's a Wrye Bash tweak to accomplish the same thing.
