How to make mod: Step 1: get a bunch of music from various fantasy sources Step 2: slap them into your oblivion music directory, either replacing whatever's already there or literally just slapping them in there Step 2a: If you replaced the original music instead of adding onto it, be absolutely certain to leave the metadata perfectly in-tact. While preserving at least some shred of the song's copyright and other such methods of giving credit to the owner and composer of said music, leaving you a way to say "well i gave credit" when you in fact did not, it also increases individual file sizes, making it seem like there might be more to these songs than just a minute or two of ripped off soundtracks and only vaguely fitting music, or even just more tracks altogether. Step 2b: If you just slapped them in there, good job, you still ripped off someone else's music without ever owning up to it or rather saying you did so in the "mod" description, BUT you did it with a little bit of decency. Also, its easier on you and your downloaders who dont want to REPLACE their music, but simply add onto it and they dont have to rename each and every individual file just to find out its not original music or even remotely close to fitting the theme or feel of the game in question. Step 3: Congrats, you're basically done. Zip that music folder into an archive and slap it on the nexus. For maximum inconvenience to the downloaders, and as a giant middle finger to the people who's music you essentially stole, make absolutely no mention of the music in question being unoriginal pieces ripped from youtube. Step 4: Get sarcastic, salty comments from dumb people like the writer of this guide, when the mod was most likely just meant for personal use.
But seriously dude, at least MENTION that the music isn't original, like... my dude... maybe even include a link to a playlist of the songs you used? I mean, its cool if you wanna rip songs like that from youtube, i do so all the time, but if you're gonna post it on something like this, please at least MENTION where the songs came from, or even that you have no rights to them. It really just makes me a big salty thing when i download a mod, have to wait the long heckin time since nexus limits our download speed unless we fork over some cash, which i GUESS is fine, it just wastes my time when i finally finish the download aaaand it doesnt really fit with what i had in mind, and isnt original. I expected something like Oblivion Music Overdose, where the guy composed his own music and stuff. pretty sweet, but got a youtube playlist :\ Like, please at least put in a little, like... footnote. Again, a link to a playlist or SOMETHING to let dumb people like me know that "hey, this is just a bunch of stuff I liked and I thought would be cool in the game to share with people, heres the things i used" :\
Disclaimer: I dont care that the music is ripped, like i said i do it too, thats not an issue, the issue is that im annoyed and dumb
How to write a comment, as dictated by Ebony aka Drigas: Step 1: Get salty Step 2: be sarcastic and exhibit c*%!-like behavior Step 3: spew words onto the screen Step 4: get less annoyed and feel bad about what you wrote Step 5: commence self-hatred Step 6: refuse to erase or not post because "I already worked THIS hard on it" Step 7: write a reply to your own comment being annoyed and sarcastic with yourself Step 8: Profit?
I genuinely appreciate the feedback. As much of a rant as it was I took your advice and made it clear that the music is not my property. Hope that clears things up a little.
yeah its fine i just was salty cause i spent like an hour downloading a bunch of mods, and for some reason this one took the most time. kept stopping and the speed was slow af, so i was just so peeved when i opened it up and it was a bunch of uh... well, not really what i was lookin for. Sorry for the rant
