Description of how to change it yourself:

This details how to change the NorthernUI mod itself.

To anyone who wants to change the button icons, It's not that hard. The buttons icons A, B, X, Y, are not textures but just text surrounded by a color circle texture. The file that has the A, B, X, Y, text is located at Data\menus\prefabs\NorthernUI in the file called key.xml. You can edit it with notpad++ . It seemed like there was no way to get rid of the text because if you replace it with just space it would go back to the default which is 0, and that 0 would be shown over any texture you put. Fortunately, after a bit of searching I was able to find a special key for xml that makes space a proper value. The key is "& # 0 3 2 ; " but all together without the quotes. I typed it like that in spaces here because together it actually doesn't show up that is the point of it, it makes text invisible so to speak. So it was just as simple as replacing the text A, B, X, Y, with that special key which made them invisible. Also in the same file I renamed the LB, RB, LT, RT etc to the playstation L1, R1, L2, R2, anyone can see the text for the buttons and change it themselves. After that I just went to Data\Textures\Menus\NorthernUI\icons and replaced the xbox circluar dds files with actual playstation dds files. I also went a little further and went to Data\menus\NorthernUI and opened up the strings xml and replaced the menu options with words. For example, when you go to change controls, it no longer says Y for jump I changed the text in the file I just mentioned to say Triangle instead of Y. Lastly I went to Data\Textures\Menus\NorthernUI\Shared and changed the cursor_gamepad.dds which shows up on the map to one I cooked up with paint.net of a playstation controller.

Furthermore, I will also add an optional file that removes the mouse cursor. I removed it because it was annoying how it always pops up when you talk to someone.
