Did you make progress about that NPC (and others) disappearing ?

As it is it's not a big issue as it is possible to spawn the npc "placeatpc id", still. Quite a glitch it is.

Only for new games. You don't need to type the bat command if loading up a previous save, where you have already ran the command.

@AllisterHenderson oh i forget. actually ralus and antus odiil, after receive notification starting battle against goblin in farm began, they begin to lose their essential status. im already check using "set essential actor plus" mod

Rallus Odiil and Antus Odiil are both included in this mod. However, I don't think they are supposed to be set to essential because it interferes with the quest: The Killing Field. They are supposed to be able to die, the quest challenge is keeping them alive from the attacking goblins. So you may have to edit the essentials.txt and either remove the lines 'setessential 2229f 1' & 'setessential 222a0 1' for those who haven't run the bat command yet, or in your case you will have to change the '1' to a '0' for both those lines, and rerun the bat command again.

Any chance of including the Better Cities-added npc's into this list?

Sorry man, but no. I personally keep my game as canon as possible so I don't use mods that add new npc's. Feel free to use my .txt file and add them yourself though. You can upload it on Nexus for anyone else who is interested, which I am sure are plenty :D

LOL @ "feel free to add them yourself." It's your mod, man. Not mine. If you're not gonna put in the time necessary to keep the mod compatible with mega-popular mods like BC, then don't... but telling people to "feel free" to do major work on your mod ain't gonna cut it.

@songlife What kind of retarded answer is that?

I already told you I am not going to add them, for reasons I made perfectly clear.

"telling people to "feel free" to do major work on your mod ain't gonna cut it." Well, guess what? Nagging to me is not going to cut it either, smartass. So I still think adding them yourself is the better option, don't you think?

Maybe next time you should try to use your tiny little brain before you post something. Otherwise you should stick to Reddit with the rest of the internet's sewage. xD

@AllisterHenderson Thanks man! There are better methods for keeping NPC's essential but I am not a modder and since there doesn't seem to be a single file on Nexus that covers as many NPC's as mine I decided to make a bat file and share it on Nexus. Maybe someday someone will make a real mod that has the same function but until that day this one will do the job well enough.

Which NPC's from Better Cities do you think need to be made essential and you are sure won't bug a quest if the NPC is supposed to die?

I'd like to post here an observation of a strange fact and, above all, I'd ask the mod author to add Maenlorn (https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Maenlorn).

Maenlorn should stay at his inn but, when I went to jail in Bruma for the quest that requires being jailed, he appeared outside the city and get killed by a bear on his way back to Anvil.

I wasn't there when it happened, and I've rebuilt this strange fact when I found no sign of Maenlorn at his inn and around, so I've used the console to teleport to his location and when I was there I immediately get attacked by a bear. It was nearby Bruma, on the road to Anvil. His corpse wasn't there, so he died two days before.

It is mentioned that Maenlorn is one of the NPCs that may appear outside a city where the player get jailed, but this topic isn't very well discussed anywhere, and I think there isn't a list of such NPCs.

To end the story, I've placed Maenlorn with a PlaceAtMe command and, since he isn't quest related and nobody cares if he died (actually for NPCs in Anvil he was still alive) I had no problem in having him resuming his daily routines as nothing happened.

      Scaringella> Good pickup concerning Maenlorn.

To include Maenlorn in the list of NPCs converted to essential in this mod, open up essentials.txt.
Add this line at the bottom of the list :

      setessential A27C 1

You will then need to open up console in-game again and re-issue the command: bat essentials.txt.

I added most of the Better Cities id codes into the bat file. Now most people including some animals are essential. And won't die from a silly encounter from an imp or Minotaur. Thank you for this mod!

Very nice and useful mod, but I think that this mini-mod is probably incompatible with Safe Traveling NPC by Irv1n3 since both do the same thing. Also it will be good idea to make similar mod that will cover all non-essential NPCs and make them essential (except those who must die in some quests). For example, Ariela Doran in Chorrol and Fjotreid in Bruma almost always die when I reach the levels 15 to 20.

They don't do the same thing that's why I made this. Also with this file you basically don't need the mod you mentioned so there is no need to use both. As for Ariela Doran and Fjotreid, I don't get how they get themselves killed in your game as both have high responsibility stats and stay inside of their homes/city's the entirety of the game. I will keep an eye out for them though and if I notice anything I will add them to the file.

OK, but Ariela Doran and Fjotreid don't get killed, they simply die at mentioned stages of this game. Also this happen even for the other NPCs. Some modders and players call this a glitch.

Okay very strange I have played this game for years and never heard of this before. Thanks for mentioning it I will try to look into it. Perhaps in the future I will make a file to cover all non-essential NPC's.

I checked out your mod. After carefully reading your description you DIDN'T add ALL non-essential NPC's. So it's a little deceiving to state this in the comment section of my file! It's a very dishonest way to lure people to your mod with incorrect information.

Also a little tip: add a list with all the NPC's you endorsed in your file. Furthermore the part you state about NPC's being vulnerable because of level-offsets (even though they are set as essential) is untrue, so far as I know.

Sorry for misunderstanding and don't worry, neither mine nor your mod does not work as expected! Setting NPCs as essential does not solve problem with dying and disappeared NPCs. Recently, when I played this game, I could not find NPC named Fjotreid in Bruma when I reached level 20 - he simply disappeared in the game, even he is set as essential. So I removed my mod from Nexus for the time being. Any help from the other modders? Every good suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank you for the mod.I like to keep as many friendly npcs alive as I can.It saves me bother to go through all the codes myself.
