About this mod

A joint effort between myself and Sshodan that came about after she asked for someone to texture her physiqued hair meshes. After a short break from Oblivion modding, she returned with more meshes! The mod is named after a song by the B52's which I just found funny!

I was just bumming around on a forum when I found Sshodan, a mesh-maker asking for help with texturing; seeing the quality of her meshes, plus they were something I've been after for some time, I offered my texturing skills. Best of all, they are initially aimed at male characters, although I have set them up so that either gender can wear them. She has since kept me very busy, sending new meshes as she finished them.

We decided that wigs were the easiest way to work these for a number of reasons. Firstly, these are rigged so that they bend with the body rather than stiff like current hair is in Oblivion. By setting them as wearable, it allows for this - physiqued hair that is set as hair currently does not work in the game, so this is a satisfactory solution, plus it allows for very long styles. Also, it means that a player can change hair-do on a whim without having to use the console, which interferes with the gaming experience much less.

I whipped up a little mod so that these could be checked out in-game, and these are the current styles. They all currently come in 8 different colour variations, since of course, these cannot be coloured like proper hair. They work in exactly the same way as the wigs in my Morrowind Goth Shops do and fit on male and female characters alike. After a break from modding for Oblivion, Sshodan returned with more meshes, plus I wanted to give the textures an overhaul.
As well as the new stuff, I decided to 'conformulate' the wig meshes - this means that they will fit any head size without clipping or unsightly bald patches. They should fit male or female characters much more naturally. Because this increases the number of files (one conform file (.egm) for each wig), I've reduced the choice of colours down to 8 - this keeps the file size down and is easier for me to manage. Folks are free to recolour these if they wish. Additionally, I've made the fancy-coloured ones a little more interesting by combining smaller areas of colour on black for a more subtle effect. I've tried to reach the best compromise between alpha settings and appearance, tweaking textures and meshes accordingly. Edges should be a little less harsh, but still eliminate alpha winking. This is a limitation of the game engine and there's little I can do about it other than trying to find acceptable workarounds. They should work on all male and average-chested female - clipping will occur on big boobie models, and I'm not interested in altering them to fit these bodies.

I also made a special ground mesh for them; using an idea from Canadian Ice's wonderful Metal Queen Boutique for Morrowind, I made the ground mesh as a wig stand.

This will allow them to be displayed in the player's home. This model covers all styles of wig to save on file size and huge amounts of effort! They are havoked and can be placed, either by hand or using the very useful Decorator Assistant mod.

Additionally, this mod now comes with equipable ears for both human and elf characters, for use with this mod (as the wigs remove ears!). They come in a range of earring styles and will pick up the correct skin texture automatically when equipped. They come in tail and amulet slot and can be used by companions as well as the player.
