    Just as a warning. The enchantment part of the mod does not work with most other mods that mess with enchantment values or do the same thing. Mods such as Enchantment Mastery or Mighty Enchanments seem to screw the multiple enchantments up for some reason.

      the different is pretty much very significant I would say. (+) pros (-) cons

      Equipment Converter - Model Swapper
      (-) the conversion process is a bit complex
      (+) item conversion can have few exceptions (but it has disappearing model bug, the author mentioned it)
      (-) can NOT revert to original item state
      (-) per conversion process is always CloneForm, means will bloat your savegame
      (-) Not support disenchant feature
      (-) Not support multiple enchant
      (-) Not support vanilla custom enchantment
      (-) Not support sigil enchanting
      (-) NO warning on quest item or scripted item conversion, can Not modify quest item model
      (-) Not maintain enchantment, each item will create new enchantment, another savegame bloat
      (-) can Not modify vanilla arrow model safely, each arrow is CloneForm which is dangerous savegame bloat for this arrow case

      Transmute Box - Real Time Clothes Changer (DWC)
      (+) the conversion process is user friendly and easy
      (-) item conversion MUST have same type and body slot, very strict
      (+) can revert converted item to original item state
      (+) check the item it is CloneForm or not per conversion, to prevent savegame bloat

      (+) support vanilla custom enchantment, auto rename the item for DWC support

    Hiya! So I installed the most recent version you uploaded and now when I return to original form the item is marked as stolen :(

    Edit: Actually, I just transmogrified something and once it changed it became stolen, so it wasn't restoring it, it was the process of making it. There is a shopkeeper watching me do this though, so not sure if that has something to do with it!

      ahh my bad,
      the Transmute Box should be owned by player, I forgot to set that in this version
      in my main mod DWC this bug has been fixed since long (about a month ago maybe)
      I can't keep track all of my smaller mods since I don't use it much~

      EDIT : even though I stopped modding for awhile, also this unpopular little mod is not got my attention. but since you've already endorsed this mod & you coming back again I appreciated that so...
      I've uploaded new Transmute Box, now has same function as latest version in my DWC mod

      Hmm... so it's still doing it, and when I open it in tesedit the dwcTransmuteBox -- under ownership says: [00000007] <Warning: Could not be resolved, but is possibly hardcoded in the engine>

      hmm... this require a bit explanation.
      if the item is already marked as stolen, you need to change it to normal item first
      because when you take out that stolen item in front of ANY nice NPCs they will still think you as thief
      if the item is normal, the next time you transmute it should be fine since the Transmute Box now is owned by player (last update)
      also
      when you open Transmute Box ESP with TES4 Edit, regarding that warning it is SAFE. that is not an error, just as it is said : "Hardcoded in engine"'
      ALL form ID that have number below 800 is built-in Oblivion records

      Ok, yup, that was it, once I reverted it back to normal, and then re-transmogrified (before I was just transmogging over top of it... duh) it worked perfectly, thanks again so much!

    How do you change the item back?

      you can only transmute back item that is newly created sigil item in-game / new custom enchanted item / new item transmuted by DWC after you load this mod in your load order
      put any items that have DWC label name in transmute box, choose second option. the item will restored to original
      if still not clear, activate Misc item DWC in your inventory, hold SHIFT while choose second option There you can read the description

      I did that, however, it doesn't change back. I put the DWC item in the transmute box and then hit the second option "Transmute!." It just says there's nothing equipped in the slot and does nothing. The DWC stays in the transmute box unchanged.

      oh my... sorry my mistake, the second option should be 'Restore Original' instead
      it is because I always playing Oblivion using my main DWC mod, I overlooked the extracted feature (this mod) and not test it properly. I just put the script this and there to make it compact for extracted feature, but I'm just human that still make some mistakes & errors... and am too lazy to debug or test it some more
      I've uploaded new version, now it should works fine

    Your mod reminds me of Item Upgrade Panzer_Kleidung mod, I've been using it for the same reason for some time.
    I suppose yours is more up-to-date though, have to try it out!

      yeah it is similar, I never notice that mod until you mention it.
      that mod is not updated, last OBSE used is version 11 which still have many limitation.
      I believe because OBSE 21 this mod DWC Transmute Box is more reliable & safe.
      also you can change back to original item if you want.
      I've searched everywhere but not found mod that can transmute back item to original after modification
      so ... that's why I created this
      in the past I found several mods that can transmute item to another model, such as Fashion Anvil but I dislike the slot limitation plus that mod using CloneForm not that efficient it will make tremendous savegame bloat. There is also mod called Enchantment Mastery, that mod is super dangerous.... not safe for long gameplay, but it will be very fun for short gameplay.

      I have a tip for you if you do custom enchant, --> this tip is obsolete since version 4

      SCHEMA A (recommended)
      - transmute item to some model that you like, then that item will have suffix like DWC bla bla bla...
      - do custom enchant while RETAIN its original DWC name
      - if someday you want to change enchantment to that favorite weapon/armor of yours, just transmute back to original so you can do another custom enchant

      SCHEMA B (can't restore original)
      - do custom enchant to equipment
      - transmute that equipment model with transmute box
      - you can't restore the item to original state since the base item is already cloned form from Oblivion built-in itself... creating custom enchant always create another new form

      I've updated this transmute box mod.
      you NOT NEED to rename the item to match last transmuted item.
      Now you can just transmute it just like that,
      I did this because I feel motivated there is some feedback & donation means there is some people that use it and appreciated this,
      this time the script is more efficient & will save you from savegame bloat
      DWC will monitor your last enchantment and auto rename it to DWC format item name compatible
      enjoy~

      what's the different ?
      I reduced how many clone forms created
      by default vanilla Oblivion built-in is produce clone form when player created a new custom enchant. if you use DWC early before custom enchant that's make 2 clone form!
      now it's just only 1 form, DWC will reuse new form that Oblivion auto generate from custom enchant

    Very nifty if it works. I guess I'll test it out. I've always hated that some mods add capes of all things to citizens. I am not a SUPERHERO!

      I've uploaded new version. there is a bug, I placed one wrong syntax causing weapon transmute not working.
      cape or anything as long that item is recognizeable slot, this mod will support it :) enjoy~
