Mod Name: Sonja Light Armour Blackwood

Series: Armoury Module
Number: 3

Author: Myrystyr
Original Author: PirataBonifacio
Date: 24/06/2017
Categories: Armour

Requirements: HGEC or ZKEC Body Replacer

DESCRIPTION

Hello, and welcome to another much-needed quick fix to an otherwise excellent mod.

I like the armour in the original version of this mod, with the exception of one minor problem. There are no icons. Consequently, whenever I equipped this armour the game stalled for several seconds. I tried fixing this in a personal compilation of several armour mods, by assigning the armour icons of a different mod's armour. While it worked, that mod was beset by problems best solved by abandoning the whole project and starting over from scratch. And so I made this mod.

This mod includes all of the HGEC and ZKEC meshes and textures, in two separate Data folders, from the orignal Sonja Light Armor mod, with the exception of the no-panties patches. The following esps are included:

1 - SonjaLightArmorResource: New (aa) IDs are made of the four armour pieces. No other action is performed in the creation of this esp. This is not used in this mod, and is provided as a modders resource. If you have custom icons you think would suit this armour, this is a good place to start.

2 - SonjaLightBWBase: New armour pieces are made under the Blackwood subfolder. They have the statisics and female models of the original Sonja Light Armor. Male characters who don this armour will find themselves wearing a light version of standard Blackwood armour. This is used as the basis for the following esps, and also provided as a modders resource.

3 - SonjaLightBlackwood: The new armours are placed in a respawning vendor chest, and added to A Fighting Chance as per the original mod. No other change is made. Playable immediately.

4 - SonjaLightBlackBowBandits: Lastly, for those who like a bit of a challenge, a number of bandits are made and added to the two Black Bow Bandits lists. These bandits are recognisable by the Sonja Light Armour they wear, and for not being of the traditional bandit races. They are also slightly tougher than normal. While this is also playable immediately, see Conflicts/Issues below before using this version.

The original ReadMe file is included for reference purposes.

CONFLICTS/ISSUES

The vendor chest is pushed far enough down and away that it is unlikely to overlap with similar chests placed by other mods you might be using. This armour was worn on custom and stock-based characters using a ZKEC Kaihen body, and no issues were encountered.

The Black Bow Bandits version of this mod will conflict with any other mod that alters the same lists, e.g. SPTDiverseBandits. Furthermore, tougher Black Bow Bandits means that Mazoga The Orc will probably die sooner; unless, of course, you've made her Essential or dramatically increased her hit points. How often they appear will depend upon how many other mods you are using that alter the same lists. As the new bandits do not use the same lists for armour as normal bandits, you will not find them wearing any enchanted armour.

Game Balance: Making glass-quality armour available at low level seems at first unbalancing. Then again, one of my early Playstation characters was Arena Grand Champion at first level thanks to all the unique weapons and armour you can buy (or find) in the Imperial City. All it takes is some patience and high Alchemy and Mercantile skills. So, if encountering tougher than normal bandits at low level makes the game too tough, and you don't feel like turning the difficulty level down, you might want to consider holding off joining the Order of the White Stallion; at least until you've raised your Stealth and Marksman skills to the point of being one of Cyrodiil's deadliest snipers.

Playtest Report: I sent my 27th level Ancient Elven Sorceress into Rockmilk Cave for some sniper training. About a third of the Black Bow Bandits wore Sonja Light Armour, and they were massacred by the slightly tougher than normal marauders from a personal mod that adds NPCs of my own stock-based custom races to various leveled lists. It was quite the bloodbath, and I ended up only having to kill a few marauders. The icons displayed in inventory, and the armour went on and off as normal. On my way out, carrying over a dozen Black Bows, I was met by Mazoga who informed me she was going to go get some Black Bows. So much for my concerns about game balance . . .

My laptop doesn't like screenshots, so feel free to take pics of your characters using this mod. Upload them to this mod's webpage, and I'll verify the images as soon as possible. Epic battles for the glory of White Stallion Lodge are appropriate for this mod.

IN CLOSING

I like how my characters look in this armour, and wanted to give something back to fellow modders. There is a fair chance this mod may feature as part of a compilation mod I am planning.

This mod was created using the latest version of the Construction Set, and playtested with The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition. Although Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine were installed at the time, they are not necessary for use of this mod. Similarly, while OBSE and Elys Universal Silent Voice were installed they were not used during play. Nor was any other utility installed or used.

At first level, and after only 4 hours of play, my playtest guinea pig character had amassed over 20,000 septims from selling clothing and armour found in mod-placed containers all over the Imperial City. That kind of play makes buying armour like this almost too easy.

These mods are my way of giving back some of the fun I had with the mods they are based on. Thank you for reading, and enjoy your gaming.
