This is very beautiful! But unfortunately, I don't know how to install this.... I extracted this to the data file, but vanilla rings wasn't replaced. I am a beginner of modding, so I probably made a mistake.
That's likely because you extracted it in such a way that theres a new Data folder inside the game's original Data folder. To amend this go to the main Data folder (the original one), highlight the new Data folder inside it, cut (ctrl+X), go back to the main Oblivion folder (the one where Oblivion.exe is located), and paste (ctrl+V). When asked if you want to merge the new Data folder with the existing one, click Yes, and overwrite older files if asked to.
But in future do use a dedicated mod manager (my advice is Wrye Bash) to avoid similar - and worse - problems.
Thank you for trying to help me. After checking, the layout of my files is as follows. Oblivion>Data>Meshes>Clothes>Ring / Oblivion>Data>Textures>Clothes>Ring So, If I correctly understand what you're saying, I don't think this procedure is wrong. (I don't speak English, so I may have misunderstood.)
Can I install this mod by using a mod manager? I usually use TES Mod Manager. (Wrye Bash is difficult for me.)
Edit: It worked by creating omod with TES Mod Manager. Thank you for your kindness!
Congrats :) (BTW, WB is actually easier than TMM, but that's my opinion - and the bashed patch feature will be necessary if you plan to install more complex mods in future.)
A problem I have with a mini mod I created was that the base items looked generic and making a new texture didn't fix the blandness of the generic vanilla rings. could I use your models and textures as a base to build the rings in my mod?
In case you were wondering the mod is " God-King Rings of Morrowind" one ring for each of the Tribunal that has some powerful constant enchantment with some script added spells and effects when you equip them.
you can use the textures, as long as you credit me, but im not so sure about the meshes since they are oblivion vanilla meshes so you dont need my permission there, all i did was to the slightly edit the UV maps
I came here to comment that there seems to be a mistype on one of your rings. The mesh for the base brass rings is named "riingbrasstopaz" it should be "ringbrasstopaz"...at least I assume
I read the above comment from you (monkeyangie) though and now i'm just very bewildered. The meshes included are certainly not the vanilla oblivion meshes.
Oh how wrong a little bit of sleep can make me realize I've been. I even checked the mesh path for the topaz ring in TES4Edit last night. I must've just allowed myself to see what I expected to see while half asleep, cause I just checked again and yep...I was wrongwrongwrong. I was still confused about the mesh, but didn't realize it was a vanilla mesh from a unique ring; I was just comparing the vanilla mesh for the base rings to the mesh you used and shaking my head like "there's no way those are the same". I thought I was drinking crazy juice.
Edited: Cause I forgot to apologize for wasting any of your time on imaginary problems..soooooo. Sorry for wasting your time :D
Looks perfect... Few concerns, I have Kafeis Better Ring Replacer extracted to my files, will your mod interfere if we extract this mod to oblivion, or should we delete his mod first, than install yours?
Also I do not know how to use Wyre bash, DO WE NEED to bash this file?
Could not wait bc I'm impatient and bc your mod looks perfect... haha I just went ahead and extracted your folder to my DATA even with Kafeis Better Ring Replacer files still there. I did this bc in my meshes/textures folder under rings I had old install dates for all the silver, gold, etc, BUT with rings like Khajiti, etc they were all much newer dates, I did NOT want to lose those files
Anyway without a Batched patch this is what my rings look like for those who do not know how to use Wyre bash "I can't be the only one haha"- http://prntscr.com/f1c3s8 http://prntscr.com/f1c3wo http://prntscr.com/f1bv10
HUGE difference
I will say I can not see the rings equipped through Mithral gloves "prob bc no bashed patch" But I'm more than fine with that
Thank you again and hopefully this helps those with different installed ring mods and fools who don't use Wyre bash
Downloading your amulets right now!
Lastly, please contact the fellas making Skyblivion, YOUR new mods are needed.... I have 2 guys waiting on Skyblivion who have not played oblivion in years, like 2009, YOUR mods will blow them away...
the bashed patch is only to be able to see the rings through armor and clothing, it does nothing more because this mod does not add an .esp file, the other thing, if you want this mod over kafeis you have to overwrite with this mod and i only changed the basic rings, i didnt touch khajiiti ring or namira, etc
and thank you for the pics and i dont know where to contact skyblivion people, but if they are interested in having this mod there, sure why not haha
Awesome, maybe 1 day I'll be brave enough to take on Wyre bash.... haha, I'm just scared to do 1 thing wrong, I have 150 mods right now and my oblivion is running great..... Loving your rings and amulets! I'll go ahead and copy your file links and send them over to the skyblivion website..... It appears skyblivion will be ready in 6 months for a free download
Thank you again for all your work, we all love our jewelry in oblivion and you truly made it 5x better...
