So submit button didn't work... I just wrote a 1000+ message post but nexus decided to not post it... anyway To cut it short, grass looks like this under nighteye spell effect It doesn't look normal obviously Trees also look black but once I'm close enough, they regain their color Grass looks fine during day, they also regain color during night if I use a spell with light or use a torch around it (only close proximity, not all grass) Have tried reinstalling some grass mods to see if it fixes, didn't work sadly Anything I can do?
Another issue I have is, game freezes after staying on alt-tab for prolonged periods It's fine if it's a short alt-tab or just alt-tab a thousand times, but long period of not tabbing back to the game causes it to freeze
First we need to see if we can narrow it down a little, i.e. if you are using enb and ORC. I would disable enb and test and likewise ORC and test to help you pinpoint what could be causing it. I don't use night eye/vision much at all in games myself.
game freezes after staying on alt-tab for prolonged periods
Oblivion Display Tweaks *can* help with that, but if you read the posts on the modpage, you can see alt-tab is a problem with this game anyway. That's another feature I only use with newer games. This engine is from 2006 and doesn't play nicely with some things. You can search discord servers for Oblivion and might pick up something there too.
It's totally alright! It's always good to see you wellden, hope you're doing well. I have another issue that I'll post soon after this message.
My earlier issue on this message was poorly explained, and interestingly enough I got it solved on my own later on, so I edited the message accordingly.
Realistically how much of a preformance boost would you get by using the 2x version of Oblivion Upscaled Textures? Im fluctuating between 50-60fps and don't want to go full "PotatoPC" in the settings by turing off all the effects. Any other way to slightly boots preformance in the INI settings?
Hi there- First off make sure you are using ORC..it will help with stability and with using larger textures. Second..and this is argued many times for years...since Oblivion can only use basically one core of your processor, I usually limit my textures to mostly 2k/1k, exception would be a map or something not on a large scale, but it's totally up to you. One of the best "screen archers"(which I am not lol)/modders I know in Cyberpunk says the same thing, and limits his textures accordingly (even in Cyberpunk) Highly recommend Oblivion Display Tweaks but read the description AND through some posts!
Are all the affected users located in Europe? A friend of mine was region blocked from accessing arcalive, a SK mod site. I suspect what the cause may be, but better to focus on the solution. Having a reliable antivirus, for starters. Browsing tech forums can help with that. Out of the free VPNs available, i've been using UrbanVPN for over a year now, and i'm pretty satisfied. I use Waterfox for general browsing, with the uBlock Origin and Decentraleyes extensions, for unwanted adds and trackers. For the russian, korean and japanese mod sites, i have the TWP translator extension.
What's up namtar55! Great to see you. UrbanVPN? I'll have to give that a look see...haven't seen that one. Been playing the remastered Oblivion...nice indeed. Bet you wouldn't believe it could stand a few patches ;)
Anyone else having issues where, after updating Windows, xOBSE no longer launches through the Steam launcher? I have to use the obse_loader to get xOBSE to load.
I'm still on 10...if you are on 11, try the xOBSE discord and see if others have an issue. I know the 24H2 update for win 11 had a good many issues with different games. I also use the GOG version of Oblivion, so couldn't say about steam
Edit: For anyone who has the same problem I did, according to the Discord, just rename OblivionLauncher to OblivionLauncher.bak and change obse_loader to OblivionLauncher. If you do this, when launching it from Steam, it should work as intended.
Why would you want to do that? You can, but don't expect great performance. Both packs are huge and Oblivion can only use one core of your processor no matter how many you have. Use OUT or QTP3 but not both would be my 2 cents
That is just very silly dogma, Wellden. OUT generally has higher resolution textures anyway. QTP3's textures are no more higher than OUT's. Using both just means QTP3 is going to overwrite OUT. And textures are about VRAM, the GPU, not the CPU, not cores. If you have ORC, you are good.
So after modding it, it says im missing meshes on guards and the sides on building. It has big 8 pointed stars. I cant figure out how to fix it or what pack im missing. ( I loaded back in and it seems to be on the imperial city guards and boxes that the meshes are missing for, im still having trouble finding the correct mods for those.) I couldnt download some mods from the russian site so those were skipped but it was mostly the animal ones. Any help would be appreciated. Discord is Kingizzle.
Hey there- My build of this list doesn't have missing meshes, but bevilex hasn't been by in quite some time and it's been a while since I built mine. First off, I would get FormID Finder and follow the instructions to locate which mod the missing meshes are coming from. Then you can see what might need attention in your modlist. Let me know!
Hey there. I keep having issues on Oblivion with pop in of trees, ground under the trees and rocks. How do I increase rendering distance and make sure they show up?
You'll always have some pop-in in this game...it's the engine and the way it's inefficient at processing lods. Oblivion can only use one core of your processor no matter how many you have. Also, though not in the guide, you should be using slowLODGen for generating lods. Read and follow the instructions. I think there are instructions for use with wrye bash or if on MO2 you can pack your output into .bsa's by editing the "LODGen_config.yaml" and changing "write_bsa: false" to True. This will increase performance a good bit
Hi there, I'm having an issue where I cannot access Tesall.club due to my antivirus. I get this message, "We prevented your connection to tesall.club because it is a dangerous website. Threat catagory URL:Blacklist."
"Threat type - Miscellaneous - This is a malicious software that could harm your data, computer, or network."
Is there any way for me to download the mods from Tesall?
That site throws that for everyone I think. I've been using it for years withouth issue. Still i understand if you don't want to fool with it. Do you need katkat's mods? I have a good many backed up I can send if you need me to
Hello wellden, I am having the same issue as duckyo7 and was wondering if you could please send me any/all katkat mods you have, since I cannot get to any of them. I would really appreciate the help! Thank you either way!
Hey! Thanks so much for this amazing mod list—it’s been working like a charm so far! :)
That is… until I somehow managed to break something I can’t fix.
I recently installed the All Natural Weather mod, and for some reason, all the water disappeared. I tried uninstalling it (including ORC and ENB), but that didn’t solve the issue—the water is still missing with ORC, and I’m not sure how to restore it. Prior to that, ORC + ENB worked for me just fine.
I gotcha...Install something not in the guide and want us to fix it LOL Just kidding...well "bUseWaterDisplacements=0" in the oblivion.ini is needed for enb and could also be a shader issue from uninstalling ORC. You can find the vanilla shaders here if you need to restore them. You can then reinstall ORC back on top if you want. Make sure you uninstalled all natural, or if using it, make sure to uninstall bevilex's weather plugins that are in the guide. Don't need 2 weather mods in the same game...not good Sounds more like a shader issue to me though.
I already had bUseWaterDisplacements set to 0 and uninstalled Bevilex's weather plugins before installing All Natural.
Just tried what you suggested—after uninstalling ORC and adding the Vanilla shaders you provided, the water was restored without any issues. However, as soon as I reinstall ORC on top, the water disappears again (I'm doing everything through Wrye Bash).
Also tried repeating the same process without All Natural, but the problem persists as soon as I install ORC again (never ever had this issue until the installation of AN). Screencap of the issue. Underwater.
Yep I remember that bug... Unfortunately we can't search the forums here since Nexus had to disable forum searches. Make a backup of your oblivion.ini from document folder & delete it after backing it up safely. Then run the game as it will create a new one. Make sure water displacement is back at 0. Test & see if issue is gone. Disable any overlay (such as steam)
but the problem persists as soon as I install ORC again
What version of ORC do you have? If you are using Bevilex's settings, you must have v1922, as ORC and enb are extremely finicky together...otherwise in MOFAM we use ORC v180. Anything newer I have not tested at all. If you aren't using bevi's settings then the ORC.ini needs to be adjusted to your liking. You could try v180 too You can always disable all settings and test one at a time to see where the culprit is. Check oblivion.ini...bUseWaterReflections=1 (toggle to see if it appears) Mine is set to 1 Make sure (in Oblivion's ingame video menu) that textures are set to "large" Disable enb (rename d3d9.dll to d3d9.dll.old) and use ORC only...do you have water?
If I could only search the forums, that bug is in these many pages of posts...but there are thousands of them!
One thing I thought of and you might think I am crazy. Reinstall DX9...even if you know you have it...many issues cleared up this way. Won't hurt a thing OS wise (windows correct?) but solves a lot through the years
I have everything set up according to Bevilex’s settings (ORC 1922 + ENB). Just followed all your instructions, and when I disabled ENB, the water reappeared.
In the end, I enabled the injectors patch in ORC settings, and that allowed me to use AN + ORC + ENB together (which is a bit weird since I didn’t need it before... but hey, I’m not complaining, at least there's water!). Although, maybe it's just me, but I feel like something seems a bit off...
Although, maybe it's just me, but I feel like something seems a bit off...
It's just you!! Hey lookin good now. No...that looks like OR's water for sure. If you want to see REALLY bad, try some of the old water mods from back in the day lol OR's water looks great. Just fyi WAN is really script based and pretty heavy...so if you notice slowdowns *some* could be attributed to so many scripts. That's why this guide and MOFAM ditched it...but it's a great mod for sure.
Now it's time for your first KUDO...well done my friend...well done
Thank goodness! Maybe I’m a bit biased after spending hours trying to fix this issue on my own.
Honestly, the lack of the search button in the forums made everything much more complicated, so a huge thanks for your help and the kudos! You’re awesome! :D
Happy to help and glad you got it going. Good that you tried the injector patch as I have never tried it...so good to know! It's possible an anti virus or malware scanner was preventing it from hooking idk. I usually disable mine when modding/playing
Hey there- Anything is possible! Will it happen? Nope probably not. The author is busy with real life now and unless he decided to do so it won't happen. Sorry!

Great modpack by the way, thanks Bevilex for the modpack and others who are still working to help people with their issues in the comments!
Glad you got the issue resolved though and have fun ;)

I am following the remastered news, but i think i'll hold onto my classic Oblivion for the time being.
