4 years later, and here I am spending two weeks meticulously rebuilding the placement and Havok mesh. I have resolved all clipping/glitch issues with dropping torches on the ground. All variants have been updated too and I even fixed a few minor less noticeable issues that were in the old versions.
Please let me know if there are any issues or problems. I promise to try and get to them right away. By right away, I mean less than 4 years.
Thanks a lot for the great mod. This is the perfect solution for my light dilemma. The enchanted light rings look too much like florescent light and the torch light in your face gets tiresome. Now with this and Torch Hotkey 1_1-31760, which I modified for a slightly larger radius and never expire, and I have the perfect solution. I did some testing for the falling through the ground and any torches dropped with this installed stay above ground but anything that was on the ground before this was installed might fall through. Without the new mesh I dropped 5 torches, saved and quit. I added the new mesh, reloaded, and 3 were below ground and 2 above. I wouldn't think there is much you could do about that if you change a mesh. I'll just keep that in mind if I ever play a mod where the player is supposed to follow a bunch of torches on the ground. You could always just remove the new mesh temporarily for that mod. Thanks
If you drop torches before this was installed, it's no surprise they dropped through. The position the torches were in prior may mod changed when you installed my mod. Thus some were moved lower. This should not be a problem at all after the mod is installed with any new torches dropped.
Any news on that front? Running Deadly Reflex I'm in desperate need for some proper torch wielding, but my torches going through the floor has kept me away so far.
My torches fall through the ground/floor about 95% of the time. I tried using 4 different DLT mods.
Mods I'm using that may change the body: -Oblivion Character Overhaul -Seamless - OCOv2 Edition -Coronerras Maximum Compatibility Skeletons -Oblivion Reloaded
I basically followed the Bevilex guide. Any mod in that guide, I probably have. I only skipped a few.
EDIT: I just noticed the alternate Torch02.NIF file included in the archive. I tried that one and it seems to work!
I have an issue sometimes. The torch seems to be acting in a really weird matter, becoming fully transparent, but the flame keeps burning. What kind of issue could be? I play mod free.
I have no idea what would cause that but as I mentioned in the other, the only thing changed was the coordinates for the original mesh. I didn't alter anything else.
I had an issue where in first person view, the flame of my torch doubled. One flame stayed where it should and the other one danced in front of me while walking. Very similar to what anonimousone described. After much trail and error i found that setting the ini option in trifle 'EnableFirstPersonShadow' to 0 fixed the issue. Tbh Martin/Pinkertonius, at first, i was suspecting torch02.nif too. -white flag- Thanks for a great mod!
Same as Drop Lit Torches. I just altered the mesh and I use that mod. The only drawback is that one of the meshes can fall through the floor. I plan on fixing it when I get back into Oblivion but right now I don't have the time.

Thanks

a nitpick: it would be cool if you could publish some comparison images between the different torches.
I get the "torches fall through floor bug". It took me a while to realize it was this mod. Can this be fixed somehow?

"...almost four years later..."
All good things for those who practice patience.
Thanks for not giving up!
