I know installing custom UI's like DarN can be incredibly finicky in Oblivion. If you're having trouble getting your UI installed in general, I'm available to help. I've become pretty much an expert in installing DarN's UI at this point and I can use the OMOD installer and the manual install procedure with my eyes closed pretty much.

I've also written an article about some general troubleshooting and common problems I've faced while messing around with the UI. Its in the Articles tab on this mod page. Soon I'll also be writing a guide on how to manually install DarN's UI; at this point in Oblivion's maturity its actually easier to install it manually than it is to install it via OMOD. Check it out if you're having problems getting a UI to work!

Its important if you want to use this mod that you have the right foundation with a UI mod like DarN's before installing this. So don't be afraid to ask for some assistance if something is not working out for you!

I'm not at all familiar with using Wrye Bash to install mods; I just use Vortex. I've already installed DarnUI, and it works great.

Can I use the old NMM version of the DarnUI-compatible release of this mod?

Ok, for anyone wondering: I used Vortex to install the 7z version of DarnUI, downloaded the latest manual download for UICO, and dropped the zip into Vortex. It installed just fine and works great!

I had over 700+ archives in bash installers.. everything worked perfectly and precisely... by installing this mod, I again hopping for an automatic backup from wrye bash. but it didn't help. I've already gone over hundreds of options to fix the current situation, and once again I get a ctd. I don't know what to do. Judging by the length of time the author of this thread has been responding, I can't rely on feedback....

*sorry for such a nagging reply, bet I think I figured it out...

I am not able to drop the Archive into the Installers Tab on WryeBash. My cursor turns into a circle with a line through it, indicating that dragging and dropping things into that window is not possible.

A manual install doesn't seem to do anything except adding the DarNified/DarkDarNified UI (which I already had installed already), without adding any controller functionality.

I would really appreciate an OMOD version of this utility, if at all possible.

These instructions are very unclear. "Move the downloaded archive into Wrye Bash's Installers tab" makes me think that I should drag and drop the .zip file into the tab labelled "Installers" in the Wyre Bash program. However, I did this and all I got was a message saying "You have dragged the following files into Wyre Bash ... What Would you like to do with them?" (Move, Copy, Cancel) - and regardless of which option I choose, nothing happens. In addition, the instructions say to "install manually" however, it is not specified on how this should be installed manually (copy into a folder? if so, which folder? no instructions in the zip file? use an external installer?)

I'm not sure why this process should be so complicated. Why not use the Vortex/Nexus Mod Manager or even Oblivion Mod Manager? This, in fact, is just far too convoluted.

I just can't get it to work. I've double read everything and I'm using all the right requirements. I even got the controller to work for movement but I get o a menu and it's unresponsive

Can you elaborate more on it being unresponsive? Which UI approach are you taking? Vanilla? DarN? Dark DarN? Did you walk through the installer?

Hey, sorry to resurrect this thread from the ever dark void, like a deranged mad scientist who wants to kill God or Death or whatever, but I have the same problem as this guy. I'm using DarNified UI and cannot use the controller for anything but movement.

THANK YOU!!! I've wasted hours of precious time trying to get DarnUI and Northern UI to work with a gamepad controller with Bevilex via wabbajack. I complicated it wanting to use a bluetooth DualSense/PS4 controller with DS4Windows as well.  Everything worked OK enough EXCEPT navigating dialogue options and the main menu. So close yet unplayably frustrating. Navigating Up in the window didn't work, even if I used the keyboard arrow. Thanks a ton for providing an easy fix.

Dude I downloaded your entire thing, read every detail of every installer, actually found errors in the install steps I had to work around, and when I got done not only did it CTD... but once I fixed that (delete your saves and user config then relaunch with default video one time), my controller was LESS functional. I couldn't look around at all, the only thing I could do was walk forward very slowly and strafe left/right.

Not only that but, the UI font size change you suggested for high DPI displays? It just looks like crap and obscures parts of menu graphics.

Over an hour of work by someone who's been doing this years, and nothing. Just a headache and a chance to just reinstall my game and start fresh. Thanks.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time installing this.

I've installed this and use at in every one of my play-throughs across 4 different machines. And every time I follow my own instructions (which I have because I knew I'd forget otherwise).

And every time it works fine for me.

Rather than purely expressing your frustrations, if you offer up some constructive criticism or even particular pain points I can try to assist.

Hi, so I downloaded the all in one installer, through Wrye Bash, and for some reason it just CTD's? It is also not showing up on BOSS or TES4EDIT either. only the DarNifiedUI Config Addon.

Fixed! I just needed to undo then redo installation! Now everything works really nice, I just don't know how to get my hotkeys working for my controller. Maybe update my menuque?

Menuque is now updated and it allows me to access the GAMEPAD options in game (thank gods). Whenever I press Y to try and hotkey an item nothing happens?

Installing this VIA MO literally just broke my game. Selected all the right options and it crashed on launch. Ok, so I decided to uninstall it. Game still crashes. Am I missing something? I even deleted my ini file for my game settings to reset them. All this JUST so I could get the arrow keys to work properly in DarnUI

Yeah, I explicitly mention NOT to install it via MO. Its unfortunately just not a viable mod manager for a game as old as Oblivion. I never claimed to support it, so I can't help you with this. Apologies!

Hey, I installed this manually am am running HUD Status Bars Enhanced alongside it. The hotkey menu overlay is smack in the middle of my screen with some percentage of transparency (50%? that's probably not important.) I've tried looking through the .XMLs to try and find the overlay to re-position it to the bottom right and to be invisible unless opening it. Can you point me in the right direction?
