I'm trying to change the bash key the line in the ini file says "set aaMalonnpushquest.spushkey to 33 ;defaults to "F" key.
I Ttried changing this to the V key but nothing happens its still F... is the 33 value a reference to F and if so what is the number value for the V key and what legend are you using for keys?
You have to assign the key code to it. See here for key codes: https://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=GetKeyPress I guess you were trying to assign the actual letter "V". It would take too much tedious scripting to translate keys to codes. And, I'm not really developing this mod anymore.
Bashing works but trying to adjust values in ini file and nothing seems to happen? Tried changing button dec value and fatigue drain value but nothing has changed?
There is an awkward delay after hitting bash key and delay to when enemy actually staggers, enough of a delay that you can hit bash key, they attack you, you actually bash, they attack again, and then they stagger. Don't believe this is an issue on my end, followed install in readme and used LOOT to set load order. Do not recommend
It shouldn't be doing that man. That's not according to the code. My guess is it is indeed something on your end. Let's put it this way: that is the first I've ever heard of this issue. The mod's been out for three years. What's your LO? Do your thing and don't use the mod if you want, but it's not written to work as you are experiencing.
Sure, it'll work with any mod. It's mostly scripted. The meshes are for reducing the length of the stagger animation, mostly (I can't recall haha--been a long time since I worked on this mod). Maskars and OOO are 100% compatible, I'm sure. If you run a mod that alters stagger animations, there may be a conflict. I'm getting back in to Oblivion after a long hiatus, so I'll crack this bad boy back open and update it.
And you can install it at any time. It doesn't matter.
Might be a stupid question, but is there any way I might get this to work with Northern UI's gamepad support? I'm one of the weirdos who prefers gamepads to keyboard/mouse (mostly because it's more comfortable on my back). This uses a player determined key, but would there be a way to tweak the settings so that holding block and pressing attack will bash, Skyrim style?
I'm not really sure about gamepad support, I'm a mouse and keyboard guy. Honestly, I never even thought about a gamepad as I developed this mod. But to answer your question, yes, you can enable a blocking requirement like Skyrim. Check the included INI--there's probably better info in there than the readme.
So I see there's an option to choose between 1st and 3rd person for staggering, but what about for bashing? Is there a way to stop you from being switched to 1st person if you're fighting in 3rd?
That's right. When I bash, it automatically switches me from 3rd person to 1st person, and I have to manually switch it back. Is it not supposed to do that?
Well, it could also be one of my other mods doing something funky. Oblivion reloaded is really bad about that sort of thing. So I'll check my end, too.
*UPDATE* Yup, looks like this was my bad, not yours - just not the way I expected. It was the fairly logical result of accidentally setting Bash and Change View as the same key. Once I separated them, it sorted itself out. No wonder it was zooming in - duh. I feel like an idiot, but at least it was an easy fix. :P Sorry to bother you.
I know the mod owner is considering abandoning this, but I'm reporting an issue that I had which I found a solution for, at least one that works for me. Was trying to implement the damage to npc feature of bashing, but noticed nothing substantial while using it. Raising the value of Set aaMalonnPushQuest.fBaseDam in the ini did the exact opposite of what I expected, it started healing targets. When set to a negative value, let's say -10, it started working as expected and bashing began damaging opponents. If anyone else encounters this problem, try just setting the value to a negative.
Thanks for the kind words. At this point I'm considering officially calling this abandoned, but I may be inspired if I can ever get back into Oblivion.
There's definitely a lot of potential here, but it's a bit too buggy and inconsistent for me at the moment, I think (could be my load order though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt).
I would consider making the bashing animation happen faster, more similar to Skyrim's timing.
As well, I think I was finding that bashing an opponent mid-animation would make the stagger effect not take place until after they finished whatever animation they were in - which sort of seemed to defeat the purpose as bashing is supposed to be an 'interruption' you know? Though that could have been a bug caused by something else in my load order, hard to say.
Anyways! I hope you keep up the good work because there's a lot of potential here!

Having said that, I'm not 100% sure of your issue. Try another mod. Bashing Reworked is a good mod. Try it out.
And, can i install this mid-game or i must start from the beggining?
Also, this looks really cool
And you can install it at any time. It doesn't matter.
Thanks for the awesome mod nonetheless.

I have commenced my Oblivion installation/set-up rituals, so I will probably be picking this mod up again.
I will be playing Oblivion again, that's for sure. I just can't abandon Oblivion from my life...
