The issue with this mod's physics is very simple - it treats the player as if they are an object, and do not apply force themselves according to circumstance. A human walking, sitting, turning, stopping - all is governed by muscle effort and extra force appliction. If you treat a human like it's unable to affect it's own momentum, you end up unable to walk stairs.
Does anyone have the source code? I love this mod and I want to do something similar in a pretty ambitious Oblivion overhaul, but it goes quite a bit above my skill level to make from scratch. I know that the Skyrim version from the same author has the source code available, but that's unfortunately not enough for my tiny brain.
It shows missing on the main page for me, but the file is there on the files tab with the wrong name/version/info. It works and is the right archive though. It's a little weirder than the Skyrim version.
I love how my character starts running, but stopping just drives me insane. The way I keep sliding like I'm on a hockey rink is just incredibly annoying
I applaud your effort but I had to uninstall, it's far too annoying. I'll endorse on principle anyways, very interesting work.
Weird. I never even noticed the running/stopping thing. I originally installed Improved Physics because it promised to make climbing more difficult, or something. I thought this would be a way to make going up some of those ridiculously-steep hills not possible at all. Problem is, this includes going UP ordinary STAIRS almost impossible sometimes.
All these years (8 of them with a modded Oblivion) I've wondered why my characters sometimes have trouble climbing stairs. Now I know. Got rid of this one, once I discovered the cause.
Edit: Now that Improved Movement Physics is uninstalled I'm also noticing my characters can sit down without stuff flying all over the place (well after they've had a seat, stuff like silverware and food continuously flies across the room), and also stand up without doing this weird "skate" thing sometimes. With IMP togged on they stand up, but then the "improved" physics make them skate across the room. Yeah.
Really glad I took the 17 minutes or so to find the archive folder which holds Improved Physics, so I could then trace which .dll is the culprit. Goodbye.
this could be achieved by changing player speed multiplier to increase or decrease as per input (has started walking, or has started stopping) on a per frame basis with an OBSE plugin.
and without the terrible friction bugs and wishful thinking of a self proclaimed physics expert... lmao

Nevermind ... I'm a Nexus idiot
