Please report issues in the bugs section of the mod's page. And provide as much information as you can. This would include the log files of the plugin, OBSE, a detailed description of the problem and instructions to reproduce it.

PLEASE DO NOT OPEN BUG REPORTS FOR INSTALLATION ISSUES - THEY WILL BE CLOSED WITHOUT A RESPONSE. THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE STICKY POSTS BELOW SHOULD GIVE YOU ALL THE INFO YOU NEED TO SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THE MOD.

All troubleshooting requests for installation issues need to be directed to the Oblivion Mods Troubleshooting forum

Detailed Installation Instructions (follow these if you see the "Install Blockhead" texture in-game):

On the Files tab top download (Blockhead 11.0) click on the button that says Manual Download. In the Windows dialogue box that comes up create a folder (my own personal preference is to call it Blockhead) and note where on your computer you are creating it (I prefer to keep all of my downloads in sub-folders of my OblivionDownloads that I created on a drive that is dedicated to data and downloads, so mine is in H:\OblivionDownloads\Blockhead).

When the download is complete extract it to that same folder with 7-Zip. You will now have your downloaded file, a file named Blockhead_readme.rtf and a folder named OBSE. Right mouse click on the folder named OBSE and select Copy from the right click menu.

Now navigate until you can see your game install's Data folder. Right click on the Data folder and select Paste from the right click menu. You should get a prompt about merging the contents of the source OBSE folder with the OBSE folder that is already in your game's Data folder ... answer Yes to all of the prompts. If you don't get that prompt then either you haven't previously installed Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) or you are pasting into the wrong folder.

When you first start the game Blockhead will create it's INI file. Look in your Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins folder for a file named Blockhead.ini ... if you have it Blockhead is working, if not you've messed up somewhere (you should see Blockhead.dll and Blockhead.ini in the Plugins folder).

Thanks to Striker879 for taking the time to write that down.

For anyone else like me who uses mo2 and was pissed it was not working with blockheads I have a fix. Launch mo2 and locate the place to modify executables. Should be ctrl+e by default. Then select force load libraries and select configure libraries.

     Mark what is shown here.

I hope this helps some people.

I believe I've done everything right, but I am also getting the error face showing on the Imperial face and am trying to make a khajiit, and I have OCO v2. I didn't have any saves on oblivion before,as the game is a fresh install,so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I had even tried the Vortex Mod Manager first, before trying to manually do it. I also am not getting a pop up to merge the files on the OBSE file, just a replace, which is not what it needs? Oh,and, even tho I mod Skyrim,I'm still a newbie to modding

Start the game and make a save. Exit and look in your Saves folder (default will be in a subfolder off your My Documents). If you see two save files each time you save (e.g. MySave09.ess and MySave09.obse) then OBSE is working. If you only see a single save file each time you save then OBSE is not working.

No OBSE = no Blockhead = OCO v2 error face.

I did,and checked. I've got both the normal save and the obse save,so it does seem to be working now, guess I gotta go hit up the OCO v2 page to see why the Khajiit faces aren't what they were shown to be

If you look back far enough in the OCO v2 mod comments you'll see you're not alone with Khajiit difficulties. Not sure that I've seen solutions.

Install Blockhead error on only orcs. It seems like it only works sometimes and when I exit out of the game and go back in I get the error again. I'm manually installing OBSE & Blockhead everytime I close and reopen the game. Also yes Blockhead is in the data/ plug-ins folder.

The proper full path is Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\Blockhead.dll and also note that not all races in OCO v2 have an error face assigned.

I see three sticky and locked comments and run it, but this mod does not work.I can run it from MO2 or from steam, but I still get the text on my face.

I have confirmed that there are two types of save data, .ess and .obse. So I think OBSE is working.
Blockhead.ini is not created in any folder, Data, OBSE,PLUGINS.
    What is wrong?

What is the exact path to Blockhead.dll ... should be Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\Blockhead.dll (try a manual copy/paste install).

Exactly how are you determining that OBSE is working?

What is the complete folder path to Blockhead.dll (refer to the second sticky post)?

I've checked the save files throught the console as well as just making a normal save in-game, tried opening the OBSE throught steam, and a bunch of other stuff but I "fixed" it by installing a older version of Blockheads (one which I had installed years ago), but it's fine by me.

So, I can't seem to figure out how to install this right. I seem to have OBSE installed as I get the ".obse" on my saves, but I can't get the Blockhead ini to appear despite following the instructions here.

What is the exact folder path you are looking for Blockhead.ini (look at the last part of the second from the top stickied post for an example of what I mean by exact folder path).

Actually, I think I might've figured it out. For some reason I had an additional Data Files folder within the actual Data Files folder, and I was accidentally putting the Blockhead OBSE folder in there. I've since put it in the actual Data Files folder and I THINK everything's working fine now.

An easy mistake to make when using copy/paste to install.

The rule of thumb I use is always paste in one folder level higher than you copied when working with folders (so if you right click and copy the Data folder you will right click and paste into the Oblivion folder). When working with files you paste into the same folder you copied from.

Help! I am currently using OBMM to install mods, and so far so good it seems to be working except with Blockhead and OCOv2, I keep getting black letters across some of the races faces to "Install Blockhead" and I already have it installed in my Plugins file. The black letters only effect Imperials, Orcs, Redguards, Wood Elf, Breton, Dark Elf, and High Elf, however Khajiit, Nord, and Argonian are fine.

I have tried every possible tutorial both written and video to remedy this but nothing is working, I even tried the below instructions and that didn't seem to work, probably because I didn't see a blockhead.ini file along with the .dll file and can't see why that is nor how I am able to make it appear. I have used NMM (which is now called Vortex) and was met with the same issues. I'm thinking about starting all over again if I can't find what's wrong, am I missing something with using OBMM and NMM?

The first troubleshooting step is always confirm that OBSE is working.

Start the game and make a save. Exit and then look in your Saves folder to see if you now have two save files with the same name but different file extensions (e.g. MySave09.ess and MySave09.obse). If you only see a single save file then OBSE is not working.

No OBSE = no Blockhead = OCO v2 error face.

okay so, no matter what I do my faces don't load. I can only see nords and beast races while the camera goes out of the cell during character creation. I was testing to see if I had obse installed properly and created a save on a base high elf, went into my inventory by accident and saw a floating mouth, black circles for eyes and an otherwise invisible face. I figured I would leave that problem for after I made sure that obse was working and now I can confirm I have two save files, Mysave001.ess and Mysave001.obse . Any ideas on how i can fix my void head problem?

For anyone who needs this in the future I figured it out! Make sure that Oblivion character overhaul is 1 actually installed, and 2 loaded first in your load order. that fixed the problem and now my faces are beautiful.

Blockhead is the reason beards and other features are constantly being reset every time you equip a new item like a hood, or load a saved game.
Whatever changes are done to the age slider get reset whenever anything is changed.
The age slider is being set to the lowest value.
Is there any fix to this?

Can you provide a minimal mod setup (just Blockhead and a beard mod installed; no other mods/OBSE plugins) where I can reproduce the age being reset after loading a save game/equipping an item?

It happens with everything how have you not noticed this?
There is multiple mods out there that don't work right because of blockhead resetting age.
Seamless - OCO2, Beards in Tamriel, J17's OCO and Hair Conversions, Detailed Mouth, Beard Slider, Reposition Teeth, OCOv2 Male Beard, Male Hair Mod, NPC Hair Matches Beard, Warpaints and Scars also.

It even happens on corpses, if you kill NPC and loot any wearable armor on them their facial features get changed to youngest on the slider.
If you change your eyes at the character creation at the start of the game, facial features change to youngest.

      I found this
      https://www.shrine-of-kynareth.de/using-blockhead-for-personalized-vanilla-race-characters

You look through the posts on every one of the mods I listed and people have this problem and you see dozens of replies saying
"open console, select character and type update3d" over and over.

Give link to dll so I can change it to stop overwriting age please.

I’ve never had issues past character creation but whenever I change eyes or hair in the character creator it removes all facial detailing and age slider changes. Older versions of blockhead do not have this issue.

Curiouser and Curiouser.  This mod seems to have a feature to adjust the facial aging of NPCs.  Now I see that OBSE 21 includes a SetFemale command that apparently works (ROFL), but it doesn't handle faces.. they don't change.  Would blockhead eventually support face commands like GetFaceGender and SetFaceGender as it does with NPC ages?

Theoretically yes, but there are no plans for new commands along those lines.
