It may look odd, but actually there is historical precedent for a helmet similar to this one. In fact, I own a reproduction helm that looks almost identical to this, except that mine has a brim that is smaller and thinner. The brim as wide and thick as this will make it hard to turn the head quickly, and may cause the helm to fall off if you move around too fast, due to inertia.
I would suggest, if I may, scaling down the brim so that it protrudes about 50% less, and making it a bit thinner (the scaling operation might actually be enough to thin it down as needed). You will then have a helm that is quite historically plausible. The center dome is completely correct as it now appears.
I wasn't all that concerned about its realism (srsly, if that was even made of lightweight steel and just wood-with-metal overlay, I estimate it would weigh at least 20lbs/9kg); I just wanted the oversized brim to bring the helmet in mind with one I'd seen several years earlier.

brim is too broad for my liking
I might shrink it down in nifskope so its more to my liking
but still cool helmet though
