This looks really interesting, but can you give us a layman's description of what it does (beyond optimizing BSAs)? I read the wiki page, but I'm not a techie, so most of that went right over my head. I gather there are varying compression rates, but which is best for what I want? Does this tool enable Oblivion to read files from a compressed BSA more efficiently?
Wow been searching around far and wide for a unpacker. Nothing works, always an issue. Is there an updated unpacker anywhere that acutally works without error messages and locking up?
Hi, I didnt choose the folder where the files are supposed to be extracted to, but still hit Unpack. Now,, these files are stored somewhere, and I have no idea where.. Does anyone know? Thanks
With v 1.6.3, I keep getting this message for one of my BSAs:
(<filepath> is the path where the BSA is located, and irrelevant).
What's causing this? I've tried unpacking and repacking the BSA, but it keeps giving me the same message. I can still optimize it, but then the textures (it's a texture BSA) won't show up in game - if I leave it alone, however, it works fine.
Edit: I've also found some other issues. Using this to optimize an existing BSA is fine, but if you use it to pack loose files into a BSA, it doesn't apply the correct archive flags. I use BSA Commander to browse BSAs, so I know that all BSAs must have the archive flags 1, 2, 9, 10, and 11 (you can also have 3 if it's compressed). BSAs packed with BSAOpt don't have the 3 or 9 flags, which seems to be causing serious problems - frequent crashes and the game just freezing for no reason.
Thanks for this tool, it's been a lifesaver for me! I only have one problem with it. Would it be possible to postpone the 2GiB size check until AFTER the duplicates are removed? I combine all of my voice files - Oblivion, Shivering Isles, and the unofficial Patches - into a single BSA. Before checking for duplicates, the BSA is 5-10MB over the size limit, but after checking for duplicates, it's 3MB under the limit. I'd prefer to be able to build the BSA all at one time, but to make it work right now I have to build part of the BSA, let it remove duplicates, then add the remaining files in separately.

This produces a BSA file 10x too small to be believed, and when extracting out of it, it results in 0 KB files.
This tool is just unbelievably broken.

Now, how do I work this thing...?
