That comment from October is untrue. There IS an esp, and here it is:

    http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43224/?

Just unzip that sucker, place it in your Oblivion > Data folder, enable the file in OBMM or Bash, enable it in the Oblivion Launcher, and you're done. The only thing is you might have to rename the esp. It was called Coolsims627.esp when I unzipped the archive and initially I couldn't get the hairstyles to show up during Character Creation. On a whim, I renamed this file Coolsims.esp (removed the 627 part) and it works! .. Why they didn't just name it Coolsims.esp from the getgo? That's the mystery.

Xenaclone, the comment from October (the one by Intai83) is indeed TRUE. This Coolsims package is a Modder's Resource and has no esp by itself. You need to create your own esp to suit your needs, or try the one you linked, and it wasn't created by Lucha himself.

      Cheers!

Correct, there is no esp provided by Lucha and Anto, but Nintai makes it sound like there is no option other than to make our own esp, and this is not true. Just follow the link up above, rename the esp that's provided, put it in the proper place and there ya go.

If I didn't know about that other page, I would have been really frustrated because I don't know the Construction Kit yet, and I'm too busy to learn it right now. I just made a new character and REALLY wanted to give her one of the Coolsims hairstyles, and then I wanted to get her game going. There's an option for gamers like myself.

Is it not okay that I mentioned the esp made by acecypher, is this some sort of taboo?

THANK YOU XENACLONE!!! I spent literally a good 2 hours trying to figure out these hairstyles, until finally I see your comment about needing an ESP to go with it and then to rename that esp, and BAM! it works! the hallelujah chorus started to play and all was right in Tamriel for once.

I too was very confused at first as it only says"a resource for those who know how to use it" on the description page and not "You need to create or use this other persons esp to use these as a player instead of as a modder"

This is a modder's resource...you have to set the hairs up in the CK to use them, or download the .esp that AceCypher made, here:

    https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43224

If it still doesn't work, then check to make sure the .esp is in the correct place in your load order. Hand-order if you know where it should go, use BOSS if you don't.

Posting this here for those who don't read through posts to find a solution to their modding issues...

Doesn't work, even after downloading the ESP file ... Won't even show up in the hairstyles list.

I tried using this mod but in my game it only shows hairstyles up to 35. Even from those, it only shows certain ones, skipping the rest eg. after Hairstyle 16 it'll suddenly skip to Hairstyle 20, with the ones in between simply not showing up.

P.S. I'm using AceCypher's esp mod. Before using it, none of the hairstyles were showing up.

Cool hair mod, works well but do you have a way to make it so the long hair doesn't clip through my character?

Hi! Can someone create and ESP file to make all Coolsims Hair available for Moonshadow Elves? Right now there is a similar Esp for converting that hair to Ren, it shouldn't be difficult to make it for MSE!
    Let me know!
    Thanks!

I followed Keresthus' guide step by step, made a .esp from scratch, added hair one by one and all that, but there's one little problem,i'm usign the Character Overhaul (version two) and somehow, the .esp i made screwed up the dark elf face texture(i can tell because removing the esp fixes it),it won't load the Overhaul textures, only the stock,so i end up with good looking hair and eyes and very low quality faces,i ask for help on this because i have no idea what's causing that,i didn't even touch ANY texture beside the hair ones,i'd be glad if any of you could help, thanks in advance

This is a wild guess, but it's something I'd try if I were in your place. You'll need Wrye Bash to do it.

      - Install OCO first, and then your custom hair esp (this is to avoid any hairstyle being accidentally overwritten by OCO - if there are any that overlap).
      - Place your esp higher in your load order, and OCO lower so that OCO takes the priority.
      - In Wrye Bash - in the "Mods" window - you see on the bottom right a window with Bash Tags. Highlight your esp, right-click in the Bash Tags window, choose "Hair" from the list, and click Save. (You can do the same with "Eyes" tag)
      - I can't remember now if OCO has got the "Hair" tag, but if it does, repeat the same with OCO highlighted, but this time un-tick "Hair".
      - Rebuild your Bashed Patch (let me know if you need any help with it - but it's easy: right click on the Bashed Patch, choose Rebuild, pick suitable options in the pop-up window, and wait, activate Bashed Patch when it's done, and you should be okay.

What it does is it lets OCO take the priority with every other aspect except hair - which is taken from your esp and merged into the Bashed Patch, and loaded always LAST.
From your mod only the hair is taken to the bashed patch, and any other changes are overwritten by OCO.

Let me know if it works. And would you care to share this mod publicly?

It's one of the few times I've downloaded a hair pack for Oblivion. I'm not too much into beautification of my own character - he's a pretty average to ugly male with a sullen face, don't need no fancy wigs. ;P But I got thoroughly tired and flabbergasted with outlandish, outrageous, and totally fun-spoiling manga hairstyles added to NPCs by Race Balancing Project (an otherwise great mod - and required by the milestone Integration).

So I started replacing all those funny, alien hair-sculptures with your hair for ladies around Cyrodiil. It's a daunting task, because I do it as a replacement, not as an esp (and RBP draws from a few large pools of manga hair), but seeing normal, believable female NPCs around at last is extremely rewarding.

Thank you very much for this mod. It's saved this game for me
Now, if only I could put my hands on some hairstyles that better fit Orsimer (males and females), Mer and Khajit races, I'd be in heaven. The same applies to male hairstyles. Max & Flan's hairstyles partially solve the issue, but while they're of supreme quality, I still think they're a notch too fancy and immaculately sculpted.

Does anyone know of hair resources with regular, even boring but distinct hairstyles suitable for both genders and all races?

(And I bet bringing RBP-"enhanced" eyes back to more realistic colours is not going to be as easy...)

well, i can only say that saram and ren hairs are ok, but there are only several haircuts that will suit both genders, you know, few people think about hairs in oblivion XD

In response to post #16410805. #16464849 is also a reply to the same post.

Hmm, Ren and Saram are - among others - the ones I'm determined to replace with something more regular. Indeed there's a handful of decent ones in these packs, but others make NPCs look plain ridiculous (in RBP it goes especially for Orcs and Dunmer)...

May I ask you for a word of advice? I'm CS illiterate for now, but I decided that the best solution to annihilating weird hairs would be to use SC and assign specific hair for every individual NPC in Tamriel.

I've found a Fallout hair for men which I'm going to use only for my personal needs for obvious reasons, mix in a good selection of Max&Flan's hairstyles, base female hairstyles on your mod, and for keep these Ren, Saram, etc. that look acceptable.

In CS I've got as far as the editing window where you can edit the features of particular NPCs. At the bottom there's a pull-down Hair menu, but it offers only a poor selection of original vanilla hairstyles for each race. Please, would you find some time and be so kind as to explain to a noob how you can add custom hairstyles to this selection?

      Many thanks in advance.
