It's wonderful to see something like this. Makes bows and arrows a lot more useful than just a pile of useless sticks that stick out of your armour for no reason. Looks like I have to wait 3 hours before I can endorse ye!
Who says 1 hit kills arnt fun? THAT is more realistic, if they dont have any armor, or you hit them in the face/neck etc. and dont go, "why dont you go onto the ini or whatever and change the setting bla bla", cause im not a programmer.
@ coffinbag I just made a quick mod to make the game more enjoyable for me. So i then thought i would upload it here for you guys. It may not be full of obse scripts but its not bad, i decreased the speed slightly for the pulling back of the string, and increased the damage by a lot as oblivion bows hardy do any damage anyway. Plus i don't know how to go messing round with obse scripts, i just wanted a quick simple mod that made the game more enjoyable for me. So i apologise if it wasn't to your standards.
I'm not saying this is a bad mod, or any other insult, but decreasing speed and increasing damage of the bow hardly seems "more realistic". maybe you could use an obse script to track how long the arrow has flown and gradually decrease the damage the arrow does based on the hang time.
******* OFF TOPIC (kind of) ********* Also the speed of the projectile was based on how much energy the "Spring" would hold, I.E. the strength of the materials the bow was made of. Ex:"A yew long bow has more energy storing capacity than a yew shortbow, but less than a Composite bow." But there was a draw back to the bows, Self bows were perfect for humid climates and could be submerged in water without too much risk, But didn't have the range the composite bows had. Where as the composite bow would come apart due to the animal glue used to hold it together, in humid climates or being submerged.
Comparison of the Bows English Longbow: + The range of the medieval weapon is unknown, with estimates from 165 to 228 m (180 to 249 yds). - The longbow had a long range and high accuracy, but not both at the same time
Mongol Composite Bow: + An inscription on a stone stele was found near Nerchinsk in Siberia: "While Chinggis (Genghis) Khan was holding an assembly of Mongolian dignitaries, after his conquest of Sartaul (East Turkestan), Yesüngge (the son of Chinggis Khan's brother) shot a target at 335 alds (536 m)." - Constructing composite bows requires much more time and a greater variety of materials than self bows, and the animal glue used can lose strength in humid conditions and be quickly ruined by submersion.
Again I'll reiterate I am not in any fashion insulting anything or anyone with this statement.
I just worded it wrong that's all. What i should have said is, your bow fires at 75% of normal speed but 2.5x more powerful so 25% slower. like it would be. So it does increase your overall dps, thanks for pointing out that silly mistake

Thank again
