Well, curiosity got the better of me. I turn game music all the way down while I play. Downloaded and gave a listen, and must say very nice. Although it won't go into my game, it will still be used. It is now the first song in a meditation music folder. It's too nice to do nothing with now that I've heard it.
Hey, hey... this is a very pretty little piece of work, here!
It really reminds me of my classic days of RPG-playing.
It starts off very calming, and melodic in its tune... but it also has a very mournful melody that it sinks into, after a while... almost like a sad memory.
As I listen to it, it conjures up a party of character quietly gathered around the campfire. Everyone is kind of doing their own thing... but it's obvious that not everything is alright. Even on a peaceful day, it's hard to forget one's burdens. Everyone kind of begins to think back on their journey thus far: friends met, and lost... joys and sorrows... and travels which carry each of them further and further away from home.
But then there's that lilting, glimmer of hope... of adventure to be had, of the peaceful contentedness of a calm summer/spring day. For a short while, everyone very nearly forgets the burdens weighing upon them...
... and then, again, it comes to a close with a mournful melody and the sounds of a chilly breeze. Here, I envision the remaining members of the party quietly paying a final tribute to those they lost along the way, then lazily packing up their camp and preparing to head back out towards whatever quest it is that awaits them.
Maybe, for some added imagery, the ghostly silhouettes of their fallen companions watching from beneath a swaying tree as their surviving companions continue on without them... you know... something poignant and symbolic...
And then it all fades to black on a solemn, bitter-sweet note.
... it's a very powerful song. There's a lot of emotion to be found in it.
I'll definitely give this an endorsement once I can.
I love songs that can provoke such a wide range of images and thoughts. That's the sign of a truly good piece of music.
