    I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, I installed oblivion to the default location, and nehrim to a non-default location, and I can get this to run and save the settings for one or the other, but not both. That withstanding, this is a great idea, and it seems that some people are getting it to work, so thank you for your efforts.

    Yeah, the files are all in the same places as the oblivion ones(Except under fallout 3), the directories you said are all correct,(How did you magically know that it is the fallout.ini instead of the fallout3.ini? I guess you either looked it up or are a skilled guesser(or magician)). Thanks for the awesome file(Though I haven't used it yet.).

    Would this in theory work for Fallout 3, kinda just curious, but it would be helpful if it did.

    I'm afraid not,
    it is coded to read and copy the ini file as oblivion.ini
    i dont have fallout 3 installed, but if you PM me the names and locations of the ini and plugins files, and the loaction of the saves folder i willl happily edit the program to work with fallout for you.

    if the locations are similar to oblivion it would be something like
    ini: <username>/documents/my games/fallout 3/fallout.ini
    plugins: <username>/appdata/local/fallout 3/plugins.txt
    saves:<username>/documents/my games/fallout 3/saves/

    I've been away and sorry for not replying again.
    i only run as admin windows xp

    Now I am using the Game setting bUseMyGamesDirectory=0
    bUseMyGamesDirectory=0
    Useful settings in ConstructionSet.ini - The Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki
    Load INI-file and save error reports in the game's directory rather than My Games (The same applies to the game itself, want your savegames where you installed the game? set this to 0)

    You must have administrative rights for this to work. Otherwise you can't write to the game directory. This feature was implemented to support limited users.
    My saved games are in the folder saves right in the game folder as is my Oblivion.ini and my Plugins.txt and DLCList.txt. Thus each game is now self contained. Nehrim Oblivion and MERP each have a folder. Larger files such as Oblivion - Meshes.bsa, that are common to all games, are now cloned as hard links from one folder (The original Oblivion) thus saving space.

    This fulfills my needs well for now.
    Good luck with your project though, it is a move in the right direction.

    @Apprentice Harper
    the paths should have slashes in them. did the quote delete them?

    Try running the switcher as administrator. that may solve the problem.

    hmm, It has saved though - firstrun is 0, activegame is 2. try manually adding the game to the ini file (incluing the numgame and active game)
    i'll see if it can find hte problem. thanks for the feedback and keep me updated!

    On my computer Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe is not saving to its own INI file

    I do the add game path setting press save then close Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe. the folders are made and the files are copied but the Switcher.ini never changes.

    NumGame=1
    ActiveGame=2
    firstrun=0

    DefaultPlugin=Oblivion
    DefaultDir=Crogram FilesBethesda SoftworksOblivion
    DefaultINI=My GamesOblivion

    Correction while the Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe is open the ini has the correct settings but as soon as Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe closes the ini is as above.

    It is not clear if one should use the save under files menu item. I tried both using this save and not.

    UPDATE I manually set the ini as bellow
    NumGame=2
    ActiveGame=1
    firstrun=0

    DefaultPlugin=\Oblivion
    DefaultDir=C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion
    DefaultINI=\My Games\Oblivion

    Plugins=E:\Documents and Settings\I\Local Settings\Application Data\oblivion
    INI=E:\Documents and Settings\I\My Documents\My Games\oblivion

    [Game1]=Oblivion
    Location=F:\Oblivion\Oblivion.exe
    INIBakLoc=E:\Documents and Settings\I\My Documents\My Games\oblivion\Switcher\Oblivion
    PluginBakLoc=E:\Documents and Settings\I\Local Settings\Application Data\oblivion\Switcher\Oblivion

    [Game2]=test
    Location=F:\Oblivion-MERP\Oblivion.exe
    INIBakLoc=E:\Documents and Settings\<account>\My Documents\My Games\oblivion\Switcher\MERP
    PluginBakLoc=E:\Documents and Settings\<account>\Local Settings\Application Data\oblivion\Switcher\MERP

    [Game3]=
    Location=
    INIBakLoc=
    PluginBakLoc=

    [Game4]=
    Location=
    INIBakLoc=
    PluginBakLoc=

    [Game5]=
    Location=
    INIBakLoc=
    PluginBakLoc=

    [Game6]=
    Location=
    INIBakLoc=
    PluginBakLoc=

    the test game shows when I start Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe.
    The settings stay when I close Oblivion Settings Switcher.exe.
    But I tried to add a new game again with the User interface and it was not added to the Switcher.ini file.

    The "\\\\\\\\"s above are being deleted by the editor here so all path information above will be effected

    This reminds me of the Multiversion Fileswitcher in BFME/BFMEII. Thanks for this, I may just find a use for it.
