I absolutely love Packdonkeys. Really handy (and cute)!
Hovewer, there are some issues that ruin fun: 1. Donkeys are really, really bad at moving upstairs or getting up any plane that is higher than current one. They stuck and move erratically for some time. 2. While following PC donkeys switch from walking to running and vise versa all the time. It might be a good solution to make them constantly run after player chooses "Let's go" command and adjust speed to be equal to player character's. 3. Teleporting when donkeys are too far behind. Pretty unrealictic, though would be fixed if apply the idea from above.
Anyway, the mod is great. I've set a tent from Portable Campsite beside my house to stable my Groucho and added a barrel full of apples and carrots in a house mod I'm working on, so now my donkey can happily wait for me while I'm off :D .
They're great, and from now on an absolute must have for my game. Groucho, err, Pelagius, and one of the pack ponies, have helped my character to stay on the road instead of in a house, and my safegame to remain very slim.
One potential bug: I can't set a new stable. When I do and then tell the donkey to return to stable, he walks towards Chorrol. I use this mod besides the Rideable Pack Ponies (everything works fine there), installed with WryeBash and BOSS masterlist load order.
And a suggestion, if you ever want to put work and time in one more mod: all saddlebags mods for vanillia horses, and most of all mods for them, are terribly fickly stuff. They look great with slofs mods, but that's it. I don't dare to use a saddlebag mod for all the severe bugs that have been reported. ('sides, for now, I prefer fat ponies. Absolutely.) The only decent full size horse I stumbled upon so far was Spirit from KotN Revelation. It would be great to have something like the Rideable Pack Ponies, perhaps with less basic capacity and without the possibility to follow into interiors, for new horses. At best not sold at the Chorrol stables, there's already the dire threat of ctd hanging in the air now.
If you want more packanimals, or some variety, or packanimals that you can also ride, I have now released also a mod with Rideable packponies. Have a look at them, they are quite cute .
Like I said, got to be a conflict. At some point in time you have installed a mod that included donkey NIFs (and that also have file dates newer than Emma's BSA). BSA Redirection just doing what it's supposed to do. Change the date on Emma's EM_Packdonkeys.bsa to today's date and see if I'm right (File Date Changer 1.61 can do that).
- Edit - Look in your game install's folders for Data\meshes\creatures\mrsilkasdonkey ... you'll find the offending NIFs there.
You're a genius, mate. I did what you said and now the chests are there I wish I fully understood all the BSA stuff. I have read about it many times but I can never fully understand it. Thanks a lot.
Nah, no genius involved. Maybe some kind of strange twist to how my head works (kind of like a left handed twist that leads to troubleshooting tendencies).
BSA Redirection is just a way to get the game to use replacers instead of assets found in BSA files. Normally you only consider the vanilla game BSAs when thinking of BSA Redirection, but as you've seen it affects all BSA archives.
You will likely find that where ever the other mod added donkeys they'll now have all the extra gear Emma's mod uses. Only way around that is editing the paths to the NIFs (and creating uniques folder structure for each mod). Probably not a big deal to live with as is (unless the other mod had you riding the donkeys ... I recall seeing a mod like that, and Emma's version would be a bit uncomfortable to ride).
