I am pleasantly surprised this mod is still being downloaded. A bit shocked that Skyblivion isn't ready yet, but until then, I have some free time so let's get some bug fixes in.
Scrolling through the posts, looks like the major bugs are: - all game keys randomly added - keys duplicated - save game bloat (probably related to duplicate key issue) - some steam/OBSE version issues - slow compared to DarnUI - installers are still not easy
So I'll look into updating to latest OBSE and removing scripts that were hanging around for backwards compatibility. It's been 10 years, do people even have the save files with v3.2? As for installers, I'll aim to make it work with Vortex.
Please take bug discussions to the thread under the Forum tab. I will only deal with v5 bugs - so if you are using the Shivering Isles add-on, you're using an older version, and my suggestion will be to use v5.
It doesn't exactly inspire confidence that posts are disabled on this alternative of yours, people can't share issues they're having so others can see, like what happened here.
The comments are disabled to avoid trolls, I can guarantee that the mod works well, and anyway, if it gives you problems you can uninstall it without problems or send me a pm. Greetings
Echoing @Tailsthefox101 sentiment here. Removing comments does not inspire confidence in users, it just makes it seem like you have something to hide.
My first thought was that there were probably game-breaking bugs in your mod, hence why you disabled the comments. So that people won't know it has issues and will download it anyway.
I was considering trying your version but I'm kinda reluctant to, knowing that there is no public feedback from anyone allowed on it.
Also, uninstalling any mod with an esp or esm mid-game is never safe.
Sir. I tried your mod ,and after uninstall it now sometimes the locked doors are randomly open itself without key or lockpick. I have to exit and re run the game to back to normal. How should i fix this?
I'm glad to read everyone's comments here about this alternate mod. I was thinking of trying it, but not enthused about comments being disabled. You may say "send me a private message," and that's all good and well, but I like to read through the comments to see what problems other people have had with a mod. I've used the Keychain mod for years without issue. I'm surprised to see there are issues with it now, and a little sad. I would rather give it a try, though, than try a mod that didn't allow commenting, so that I couldn't see what others like and dislike about it. You also do not seem to be open to critique, so that's another red flag for me. I get that trolls can be an issue, but I've read comments on hundreds of mods and I've seen very few trolls, so I'm thinking that's just an excuse, tbh
To all of you who "suspect" my mod. What do you lose by trying it? You just have to save your game, install my mod and make your own opinion. I'm not trying to denigrate this mod, just offer an alternative to the community that has problems with it. I, like many people, had my game broken by this mod, but I was able to load the game "wow!", and decided to create an alternative with an updated obse version. All of you who think badly, I tell you that you are a victim of your suspicions and it doesn't worry me, it just saddens me that you think I have bad intentions. Thanks to all the trolls for hating the comments in nexus and congratulations to all those who have not come across so many. It's not an excuse, respect my decision.
My dude, having no public-facing commentary section or even bug reports section throws up so many red flags it's not funny. I can understand if it's anxiety, but you gotta understand the perspective of the outside observer.
Lowkey pitiful that you're unable to handle trolls online. Might just be me being ignorant, but I cannot for the life of me see how a troll problem has gotten so bad to the point where you're disabling a vital feature for so many who need it when modding.
I do not know if anyone else has experienced this particular issue, but this prevents the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary Well Key from working. The key is scripted and must be in your inventory (not the keychain's) to function.
Also, I have been experiencing an aggravating number of random crashes. Waiting/sleeping, loading an area, fast traveling, and even just wandering about (terrible when I forget to save). I am unsure if it is this mod only, but it seems to be a common occurrence with other users. I will play around without it for a while and see if my situation improves. If the crashes stop, I will report back. For now, I will likely be swapping this for some Automagic Bags and see how those go.
Note: The Keychain has functioned as intended (hiding/unhiding keys), and all other keys still worked as they should. I did not experience any duplication or randomly added keys, nor did I have any difficulty installing or using the mod. I will state, however, that when using a controller, I must switch to a mouse to open/close the keychain (minor inconvenience). Otherwise, there have not been any issues (except the aforementioned possible game crashes).
I started getting hard lags upon exiting my inventory, until suddenly my game started crashing every time i closed my inventory. when starting a new game and standing in the cell, there was no issue. no crashing worked flawlessly. if i loaded my game, it would work like 3-4x and then crash. disabling this mod on my game stopped the crashing, and it seems to be working fine now. i read something about this problem a couple days ago and didnt bother to try it out until tonight. it may be convenient, but caused quite the headache while trying to troubleshoot why my game just started acting out with no new mods installed. Good mod, bad function after a long period of time.
I've been having problems with this mod since installing NorthernUI. Now my keys often do not work unless I save and reload the game, and also when I unhook them from the keychain and close the menu, they seem to go back on the chain, which stops me from being able to solve this problem by unhooking them, which many other people seem to be able to do to fix this problem, does anyone have advice for fixing this?
Hi guys. The mod works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, the keychain item is present in my inventory, but all keys are outside it. I don't know what is causing it. Only way I know to fix it is to restart oblivion and hope that this time it will work. Sometimes I have to restart 4-5 times to get it working. Anybody has any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks.
