1. Installation
*************************************************************************************************
Simply extract all files to your Morrowind/Data Files/ directory.
Typically found on the C hard drive under Program Files.

*************************************************************************************************
2. Requirements
*************************************************************************************************
All you need is Morrowind, no expansions and no other mods are required.

*************************************************************************************************
3. Version History
*************************************************************************************************
1.0 - Initial Release

1.1 - Minor fix, Rinida's disposition will now change depending on the quest
ending and quest reputation has been added.

*************************************************************************************************
4. Playing the Mod
*************************************************************************************************
There's 2 esps included with this file:

Of Justice and Innocence.esp - This is the regular version with the original
4-cell dungeon. However, based on a number of tests I've done with lower and
medium end computers, this version isn't recommended for most users. Check mark
this one on the Morrowind Launcher under Data Files if you have a high end
computer (anything lower than a high end computer will experience a lot of lag).

OJAI - Framerate Version.esp - This version divides the dungeon up into 6 cells
and removes a number of light sources to help increase framerate. This is the
recommended version for most users. Please keep in mind that, while this is a
framerate version, this mod will still lag on lower end computers (though it'll
still be playable). Check mark this one on the Morrowind Launcher under Data Files
if you have a low or medium end computer.

Use only ONE of these two esps! Using more than one in a save WILL cause problems!

5. Summery
*************************************************************************************************
In the small village of Dagon Fel there lives a woman by the name of Rinida Honwyer.
She claims her poor, sweet innocent brother has been kidnapped by smugglers. This
unfortunate outcome is a result of an unlikely series of events and her poor brothers
own naivety. Now Rinida fears for her brothers life, sure that these smugglers mean
nothing but harm towards him. But who here is the real victim? Is there indeed an
innocent at all in this seemingly typical story of right and wrong? Where is the fabled
call for justice? And just what role does justice play here anyway? That is for you,
the player, to decide and find out for yourself.

Of Justice and Innocence is, at heart, a fairly typical story-driven save the villager
quest mod. Or so it may seem. What you find, what you perceive to be the right course
of action, is entirely up to you and there are a variety of ways you can complete
the quest, each of which may or may not have consequences. In addition, Of Justice
and Innocence includes (as part of the quest) a medium-sized dungeon for the player
to explore and eventually rescue (or not) the poor brother of Rinida Honwyer.
Recommended for levels 14 and over. Hope you all enjoy this little adventure, and be
sure to leave feedback (especially if you find a bug)!

6. Bugs and Conflicts
*************************************************************************************************
Bugs: None that I know of about, at least not yet. If you find a bug
please report it!

Conflicts: This mod adds two small cave entrances in Sheogorad cells
(7,22) and (6, 23). Based on my own research, conflicts should be minimal.
Using MMGUM I was only able to find one real conflict, an old house mod from
2005 called simply "Houses". At this time there's no plan to add compatibility
with this mod. This may change if someone requests a compatible version though,
so keep that in mind. If you do find any additional conflicts, please report
them. I fully intend to keep my mods as conflict-free as humanly possible.

without them?

Q. what's the big deal with this Innocence and Justice gimmick?
A. The idea for this mod was to have a semi-typical quest with a more
realistic twist. You may have noticed that there are no real villains
or bad guys here, each party thinks they're the victim and both have
committed wrongs. You have Hatiem Danilde, a well traveled and experienced
citizen gone smuggler, and Chriaspol Honwyer, a naive and simple guy.
The former, if you've read his journal, has experienced a great deal
of corruption and human suffering, toughening him but also making him
more sympathetic with the people around him. The latter is pretty much
your average joe, he's never really committed any crimes and mostly just
tries to survive. However, Chriaspol has, by an unfortunate mistake, killed
a man that was Hatiem's best friend. Now Hatiem wants "Justice" for his
friend's murder, willing to go so far as to kidnap and execute Chriaspol.
The fact of the matter is that Chriaspol isn't an innocent, and what Hatiem
wants isn't justice, the whole situation is a grey area. The player must
decide who is right and which cause to support, that of "Innocence" or
"Justice", knowing that both are actually wrong.

Q. So what about the smugglers? Arn't they bad guys?
A. Not really, no. Sure, they're criminals according to Imperial Law, but
you have to look at the situation Vvardenfell is in right now. The island
has been quarantined, travel to the mainland is restricted, and in addition,
the Imperials hold a monopoly on the sale of a number of Vvardenfell's
resources. Add to the mix the Tribunal Temple, who once enjoyed ownership
of the entire island. They despise colonization of what was once theirs, so
they fight progress and new development along with House Redoran. Colonists
who arrived to the Vvardenfell after it was opened by the Duke of Morrowind
now find themselves in a rather difficult position. Land and job development
is rather slow, creating a class of impoverished commoners who find themselves,
more often than not, unemployed. Without anywhere else to turn, many of these
citizens of the Empire turn to smuggling or other criminal acts, not because
they want to, but because they have families that need to eat. Sure, there
are some smugglers who do what they do out of enjoyment, the access to drugs
and alcohol and the good pay, but they're more of a minority.

Q. Is there any right way to complete this quest?.
A. Nope, your actions define what you think to be a suitable outcome for this
quest. If you're unsatisfied, go back and try a different way. There's about
10 different outcomes in total, albeit a few are very similar. What you say,
what you do, and what "truth" you choose to tell all go towards a different
ending. And a few endings even have another ending after that, should you
choose to investigate some of the dialogue options available.
