This mod worked well. I only had a few minor issues. I used it for a while until I found Merchants Always Buy Stolen Items mod. I switched to that for role-playing value. How would a merchant know an item was stolen unless it had a family crest or initials on it or they had time to hear a rumor of theft? Yet, they knew when I had just stolen a gold nugget from an empty house two miles outside the city. How would a merchant in Chorrol know what I stole in Skingrad? Do the merchants have a psychic anti-crime new network? This was a flaw in the original game. I thank the author of this mod for addressing it one way. I think Merchants Always Buy Stolen Items is an even bigger step towards reality.

I seem to struggle to get it to work. I mean, I am not sure if it works. Is 75 like a hard number? As in, if I got a merchant up to 80, would the success rate be more guaranteed? I mostly use Thoronir in IC after doing the quest that involves him, but I haven't seen my stolen items come up. I mean, I am in the TG anyways, but still, with the Better Cities mod, there's more places to hit, so I was thinking this mod would be useful.

I have to installed, but is there a specific load order it should be in? Or maybe I am doing something wrong.

Nice mod, great for immersion. This mod is great as it is, but if you ever feel up to making it more complicated, I got a few suggestions you could use (I left these on the original version too, not realizing it was old and outdated):

Haggling - Moving the haggling slider to the left (and thus giving the merchant a better deal on the item you are trying to sell) will increase the odds that the merchant will buy stolen items from you, as greed overcomes their better judgement. The effectiveness of this tactic depends upon your mercantile and the merchant's disposition - the more you undercut from the best possible deal you could be getting, the better your chances of succeeding. Assuming the merchant likes you, setting the haggle slider to minimum will let you sell stolen goods to all but the most responsible merchants, but you won't make much money off of them. Merchants with high mercantile themselves are also harder to trick this way.

Speechcraft - The more charismatic you are, the more likely you are to convince the merchant your goods are legit.

Fame/Infamy/Responsibility/Bounty - Responsible merchants will buy stolen goods only if your fame greatly outstrips your infamy and you have no bounty in addition other stat checks. Afterall, what law abiding citizen would suspect that a well respected hero is trying to unload stolen goods on them?

Low responsibility merchants, however, behave exactly the opposite, and will only buy stolen goods from a player whose infamy is higher than his fame. Having a bounty helps. Why? Well, think about it. If you were a shady merchant, and a famous hero with a clean reputation is trying to unload hot items on you, what would be your first thought? Sure, it's possible he's suddenly decided that the virtuous life isn't for him anymore, but more likely he's working undercover for the city guards - better not take any chances.

The rarity and value of the item - You should be able to sell extremely common and cheap items to anyone, no questions asked. I mean, how could anyone possibly tell that clay urn or silver spoon or broom is stolen? Who would even report a stolen basket or plate to the guards and merchant guilds so they'd know to be on the look out for it? Basically, the rarer and more valuable an item is, the more likely it was reported stolen and the easier it would be to identify, and the harder it would be to sell. Any item worth more than 500 gold would be impossible to sell to anyone but a fence.

sweet mod, always found it annoying that stealing things was entirly useless unless you were in the theives guild... which means you cant GAIAN anything from stealing until you've BEEN CAUGHT stealing! 0_o
