In case anyone would be interested I have converted all of the playable vanilla, SI, and KotN armor and clothing (male only) to use the full dragon shape (hand claws and feet), and the other forms as well (such as hand claws only, or dragon feet only): https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49658

First Person puts the camera 3 feet in front. Ive tried editing the INI file, ive tried Enhanced Camera, ive also tested it with other races, its this one.

How do i fix this, i play in first person all the time, but i can see through walls and trip on railings!

You're propably the first one reporting something like this and I don't have this problem, so my suggestions are merely a guess. I suspect some skeleton conflict or incompability, as this race is using its own skeleton. Are you using other race mods or mods which add their own skeleton too? Do you see other glitches in first person as well (like stretched vectors)? Are you using custom animation mods? Are you using other camera changing mods (Oblivion Reloaded etc)?

It won't be me I'm afraid. I don't know much about modding that game. But there's been an open invitation in my permissions and elsewhere since shortly after Skyrim's release, so whoever wants to have a go at it, be my guest.

Though I'm not sure a straight out conversion of my meshes will be a welcome thing. The detail and quality in body meshes has improved massively from what I've seen. Not sure my lower-poly models can blend in. Also they've been made from, to work with and for the body mods of Oblivion.

They won't fit the bodies of Skyrim and a few select parts will have permission issues due to that. (E.g. it's allowed to use Robert's Male or HGEC body meshes in your clothing or armor items and you don't need to ask for permission every time, but it's not straight away allowed to port them to other games, so the same goes for the items containing them.)

And don't even get me started about the head. Most of the other dragon body parts are just clothing items anyways, can likely be converted/recreated with BodySlide or similar any time (I'm sure folks will want to have them work with BodySlide at least). But the inner workings of the heads have likely changed drastically between the games. It was already a literal nightmare to get this head mesh right and working with Oblivion's FaceGen code. I'm not sure converting it to Skyrim will lead to anything else but a static helmet mesh.

The wings and all the custom parts, from what I know, won't make that much of a problem. Custom bones in custom skeletons is very well a thing in Skyrim, too. And I didn't yet even get around to release any custom animations for them, so that's another piece of work less to be done converting.

And then I'm still convinced, every time I'm asked, that I've seen way superior projects of custom anthropomorphic dragon races in Skyrim already, where my beginner attempts here pale in comparison to. But still, people keep asking me for a conversion of mine, so something must be amiss.

P.S.: And just Drake's enough. I'm among friends here... I think.

It's because you dragon race it actually a dragon race, and not some argonian with added wings or humans with added colors along with the wings. So far I haven't found not a single mod that equeals or best yours. So may I ask wich are the mods of dragon races you consider superior to your own?.
I really wish there was a single mod of dragon race as good as your own for skyrim.

Hmm, it seems you're right. I was following multiple topics for quite a while
      Playable Dragon race request
      True Anthropomorphic Race
      True Anthropomorphic Race Mods Ideas
and saw lots of in-development pictures of really cool stuff. But try as I might I can't seem to find most of it anymore now, the picture hosts ceased existing it seems, nor can I find anything that came of it.
I was even sent screenshots of stuff in-game, like this:
      https://sta.sh/21cwlxel21fx
But I also can't recall whom it was from or what mod (project) it was about.

Hmm, I really thought there'd be more by now. In many parts they were making much more progress than I ever had.

Taking the body parts from the Dovah and converting them so they fit an upright skeleton, the multiple animated wings mods, where my meager attempts so far pale in comparison to, the real flying with several different motions and movements, my approach so far is a sad joke compared to it, and don't even get me started on those many turn-into-a-real-dragon mods, which again beats my own creature dragon approach by miles.

And last but not least let's also not forget my oh so famous dragon head mesh also is nothing more than a re-shaped Argonian head, the same number of vertices and polygons, just shifted around some into a different shape, far beyond what FaceGen sliders can achieve.

Ah, well. Either I'm simply not seeing it or there's really nothing ever come of all those promising projects I was following for such a long time in the past. Oh, boy.

You know Drake the Dragon you shouldn't put yourself down saying there are better mods that can do all this stuff way better and pal in comparison to what some of that stuff you have a great mod here actually my favorite race mod of all time out of both skyrim oblivion morrowind and fallout if you can count that yes as newer games get released and modders get better better things can get working but I love it ok now yea know it's been in beta for almost a decade now but I still use it its awesome and better then most other races mod here are a few reason why it stand out of all other races for me even skyrim race mods and morrowind one tail and wings they both fit seamlessly onto your char as in like the wings for example have a bent back arch that they fit seamlessly onto and the arch fits smoothly and seamlessly onto the back the tail the tail really is a good one way because it also fits smoothly and seamlessly onto the ass since it covers the whole ass and ass cheeks giving you the illusion that your a actual dragon also the back spikes fit perfectly going from the back all the way to the tail tip and also the flying of the mod now yea i use another dragon mod that uses your dragons just retexured took the flying script and made work with these but it works well now yes skyrim has better flying mods with more fluid and more animations but honestly this one is just simple and works also I'm a furry and part of the furry Fandom I'm a scalie and you want to know what my char fursona is based off of your dragon mod here is a link https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30924727/ hey have been using it since 2010 and it's now 2021so just about close to being over a decade now and never stopped using it like I said your race mod is excellent yea kinda did do my own thing with it on oblivion but ever since this race mod came out I installed it did some tweaks honestly mostly getting some armor and clothing working with the digi legs oh yea anther good thing is that the digi legs just work yes I know since there not one whole body but I don't think you need a custom skeleton to have digi legs see in skyrim it would need a custom Skeleton especially for the beasts which would affect everyone that is a beast in order to have digi legs the digi legs in oblivion don't have to affect anyone but yourself if you want but yea i also look forward to trying the new version of this dragon even if it ge a out own nexus page whenever that will be yea that could be in like a few month it could be in 3 6 years more who know maybe TES 6 will be out by then I know you seam to almost never have any free time but I look forward to seeing it

Because DTD hasn't bothered to update this out of beta since 2014, I did some hunting. There are some Skyrim mods that do pretty much the same thing.

It's on LL if you really want it.

Now that's more like what I remember from the past WIP discussions after Skyrim came out.
Wonder why I never looked over there for what might've come of it. No wonder though why I never found it then.
I knew they were further along in development already than what I could find when asked and that my work here does pale in comparison like I said.

But I don't really appreciate the phrasing "hasn't bothered to". It wouldn't have been a bother at all, would it just have been possible.
I wanted, and planned, to have this mod in at least a real beta version more than 5 years ago already. But then my free time died and nothing coming even close to that ever happened again.

I can consider myself lucky for at least being able to steal away from work time and again for answering topics on the forums and helping other authors out. But with less than an hour of free time every week, if at all, development has practically died since back then.
You can actually quite consider myself retired and my projects abandoned at this point. It's just not by choice but by force rather and definitely against my will.

There is a mod like this one for skyrim. I downloaded it a long time ago. I think it was on LL. You'd have to do some digging bit i think it was called argaonian to anthro dragon. It adds dragon wings, spines, tail, and digi feet. Unfortunately not a custom race, but you can probably create your own if you know how.

    Hey there!
I really love this mode! it resembles such mode for Morrowind. An the skeelton/body mech is wonderful, especially legs. I couldn't find anything like this even for skyrim (although more "dragon parts" are available for such constructions there). I wonder the next updates. will be really happy to any instruction to how I can replace the heads.

    Cheers!

Unless I'm mistaken, there used to be a fork of this mod that was essentially an adult version, complete with all the dragon male bits that basically fulfilled the malebodyreplacer but for this dragon model. Am I mistaken or was that once a thing?

I''m aware only of some texture mods, at lest here on Nexus and male related. In main part of archive of this mod are also dragon legs alternative meshes, including nude. You just need to rename this alternative model to DragonLegs_dcpart. After install they will be in "Data\meshes\characters\DrakeDragon\male" dir. Similarly in archive they're in "00 Main\meshes\characters\DrakeDragon\male" . For alternative models with pants you must install pants textures from Robert's male replacer, the ones from "textures\clothes\rt" dir.  So as you see, you eventually even don't need another adult fork.

Hi im new to oblivion moding and cant seam to get this mod to work some help would be nice thanks

when i make a fresh start i get the consol checklist to get the options after finishing that the wings and tail end up stretching out super far
there is also a thudding sound in the background during this
i cant get the npcs to move in the tutorial so im just trapped there
from reading the replies it sounds like i dont have the Skelton nif file but i installed the universal one.

the mods i have installed are
    unofial oblivian patch
    tff base and safe linen
    malebody replacerv4
Robert muscular si clothing and armor, and stock clothing and armor
drakes anthro-dragon race pre beta v0_0_8
    universal Skelton nif181
    male body replacer v52
armor and clothing adjustments for drakes

if a video guide could be made that would be most helpful

In fact there wasn't need to install additional skeleton mod, this mod already has ones adjusted to dragons and with installing this mod right they're already present. But if you want keep nif181 skeleton, you can, just install patched one from this mod's archive. But being it as addition, you must copy all three skeleton files to right places yourself. If you installed nif181 just for dragon race mod, you can uninstall it and reinstall dragon race mod again.

Thudding sound comes from helper spell which is cast about every 2s. It uses Script Effect and so you need additional mod - so called Script Effect Silencer. Drake choose to not implement one, because is often provided by various magic overhauls, custom race mods or mod managers already. For you will be enough to download the basic one - search for "Script Effect Silencer".

Another mistake I see you made was to install both versions of male body replacer. Unistall them both first and reinstall only one (dragon parts and wraps was made for v4, but I would recommend v52, because v52 became a standard and so newer mods want this version).

PS: Maybe Drake would make some sticky comment about these two problems, as they're often seen here to save his and asker's time ?

Thank you, Roman, for jumping in in my absence. Unfortunately I was unable to check my mods' comments for way too long this time.

But whether they installed the Universal Skeleton or used mine, they shouldn't have had the shooting off into infinity of the wing and tail bones either way, just some slight distortions with the wing tips' positioning, if not using my patched files.

One more thing to always check when using "replacers" is if you're on a digital distribution like Steam etc. 'Cause of that's the case, "Archive Invalidation" means will become even more important for everything to work. It's what makes the game use external loose files (like from replacer mods) over its own internal files from inside the BSA archives.

There's different means available for Archive Invalidation nowadays, but the only advisable ones would be either "BSA/Archive Redirection" (can be setup through any mod manager I know from their tools menus and some other modding tools or the stand-alone mod "Archive Invalidation Invalidated") OR the OBSE plugin SkyBSA (making it so Oblivion treats loose files "always" with priority like it's done in Skyrim). Which one you choose is up to personal preference.

And the Blades won't come down to your cell when using this race, or ANY custom/mod added race at all, as the developers made the brilliant decision to have the Dunmer in the cell across have an appropriate insult to you based on the race you're of, using a hard-coded list of known races without a fallback option. So if the you're not using a race from said list, the game won't proceed.

That's why there's multiple so-called "custom race fix" mods among the first mods ever been released. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, however, should already have fixed this one, as it introduces the missing fallback insult for every race not in the list. So I'm a little stumped as to why they still won't come down. Maybe check its installation one more time is all I can suggest at this point.

P.S.: As for the "sticky" idea, that's a really good one. I wanted to add these answers to my description pages already several years ago. But as you can see I never got around to do it.

I wish you to have a more free time to finish your mod. After years it is still best anthro dragon mod for Oblivion ever!
And Skyrim doesnt have anything like that (mod who allows you to attach spikes and wings on argonians doesn't count).

8th September and I missed the notification?

Well, what you hear is the Vanilla game's spell casting sound for so-called Scripted Effects.
I use them in regular intervals to scan your surrounding for NPCs and have scripts run on them.

It's a rather well-known problem with more advanced scripting mods of the earlier times, like mine was.
That's why there's appropriately named "Script Effect Silencer" mods available since then and multiple of the bigger magic overhauls or other frameworks already contain one of their own. They will undo each other's effects, so not every mod needing them includes one.
And Wrye Bash's Bashed Patch even has an option for the same effect now, I think.

it's too bad that this project is not finished yet, although it looks very complete for what it is, but I have a problem, my pc shut down abruptly after a blackout, one of my "saved games" was corrupted and something strange that happened, is that the previous saved game that was in the cloud, had errors with the mod, when I removed a piece of armor, the character would look like a human torso and it didn't replace that part with the dragon torso as it happened with the mod, it's weird, I tried certain commands that the author put in the description and it didn't help me, if you can answer me with a command that makes it possible to configure it again, it would be very helpful, if you are active in nexus (the mod author) I installed this mod, just because I didn't like the default argonian from oblivion XD and this was the best I found that looks like it.
PD: if you ask me i prefer the argonians from skyrim and morrowind they look much better in shape.
(if I can't find the command to fix body, I'll have to restart the game and delete the previous one :c)

Huh, a comment 2 days ago and I didn't get a notification? Must check into this.
So you didn't have any problems on one save but on an older one from inside the cloud nothing works anymore? That's weird.
I take it your player character is of one of my races in this older save, too? You didn't change anything about your install, so OBSE should still be running, too.

This might help seeing if your actors are still under control of my scripts:
????There's also some rather primitive Debug Mechanism available to help me and you with bug-tracking.
Type "set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.debug to 1" to turn it on, set this back to "0" to turn it off again.
When this is enabled you can make all actors carrying dragon race control tokens (ideally should all be dragons) light up in green color by typing "set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.debugShowRaceToken to 1" into your console.
To light up all actors carrying reverter tokens (should be all others so they don't accidentally get dragon bodyparts by equipping an adapted item) in red type "set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.debugShowRevToken to 1" into your console.
This way you can see if all actors received their proper tokens and are under control by my scripts as they should be or not. To turn it off simply set these back to "0" again.
If they do light up in the correct colors according to their race, maybe restarting the configuration will help:
???To re-access the initial configuration menu at all times just type "set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.doConfig to 1" and wait a few seconds for the menu to pop up. ?
You did say you tried all these before though, so in that case what happened, if at all, or were there any errors or something?

Issuing "sqv DrakeDragonRaceQuest" (show quest variables) should give you some info, too (all variables of the quest).

That would be the first things to do. Though I'm honestly still a little bit lost as to how what you described could even happen to begin with.

      set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.doConfig command?
I thought I saw all the commands of your mod in the description, I think that with that one it would be corrected, (but you were late) I decided to change it to argonian, deactivate the mod, load game, save game, then re-activate the mod and change it to your race) and then it let me configure it again (now answering your question) if it is strange that in a previous game that was saved in the cloud the error is preserved and believe me, that the mod was reinstalled.
And it was not solved, but well it was good that you commented those commands, in case it happens to me again, I prefer to use your race to an argonian, this mod is very nice, it is VERY BEAUTIFUL MOD!!!!!
PD: I would only ask for a bugfix patch and the possibility to breathe in the water, with that for me, the mod would be complete :D
(but don't be too conformist, if you can contribute more, all the better, as long as it doesn't affect the fps.)

What should the bugfix patch fix exactly?

Hmm, giving my dragons the ability to breathe under water would be beyond the scope. They can't do that, unless it's the water-dwelling strain I haven't yet even mentioned in their story so far.

It's a very simple, and I mean it, task to add this ability to their race records, either in the plugin itself or through use of a patch plugin. Every race record has a list of abilities, which can easily be added to or removed from. Sadly nowadays I'm not even getting around to launch the Windows virtual machine and the CS anymore though to begin with I'm afraid.

well if you can't add that skill, aah well, that's fine, if it's for your story.
(my character's, i played him) is that he is a special argonian XD (disable the wings in my character's).
but well if you can fix bugs, try not se, that the shirt fits the character (the one used from the mod when replacing) that I didn't like, good thing I installed the one with the adapted armor from the other user's mod.
"it wouldn't be bad for those who don't want to use that armour or costume mod."
I think that the truth is that there is a part of the shirt that looks ugly because of trying to adapt it to the dragon, the top (and back) near the neck, is like duplicated and it looks weird (and the rest).
I think there are problems with the model collapsing (if that's the case), I don't think there's that much of a problem, I only had that error because the power went out and the oblivion doesn't seem to be prepared for the pc to shut down like that.
and the rest, no idea, if people find more problems, it wouldn't be a bad patch.
but at least i have a clue why the mod is not 100%.

As I'm user of this mod for years, I'm sure that this mod doesn't contain this error message. All dragon parts are edited as "invisible" clothes which scripts put in your inventory and on your body according to settings, so technically it doesn't matter which body models are in use (of course visual part is another matter,  so installing  Robert's and TFF body/clothes and armor replacers is highly recommended to avoid clipping or texture problems).

You can try "set DrakeDragonRaceQuest.doConfig to 1" to change or reset look of your dragons (DrakeDragonStartQuest is a misstype - propably remnant from earlier versions).

But if your save or .obse co-save file is already corrupted, it's better to start a new game.

I'm sorry, I just thought it could be sent privately, it's wrong that steam doesn't let you put it in hidden, I just wanted to show funny screenshots to my friends and that has nothing to do with it, (but well you already told me the possible solutions and that's enough).

(if I was using obse) I solved it anyway by changing to argoniando with the "showracemenu" command, deactivating the mod and then activating it again to use the same command to change it to the mod creature.

Well, that's what I call a hard reset, a clean save, capable of restarting every mod out there. Luckily Oblivion's more stable than Skyrim in this regard, as you certainly can disable active mods at any time on a whim, "provided" they aren't what your currently played race comes from (then you'll have to switch away from it first, as you did) and there usually won't be any remnants left in your game either, .ess save file and .obse co-save.

Glad you could fix it that way.
