Below is my own little personal guide for controllers on steam. I have not used this mod or any other mod to assist with this besides unconfirmed suspicions that Enhanced camera and Walkblessed OBSE Help create a smoother experience! and hopefully someone lets me know if it is truly needed or not!
Steam- Settings- in-game- activate controllers big picture overlay- then- go to controller tab. Click general controller settings. Activate Xbox configuration support- click on auto detected controller at the bottom (preferably Xbox one wired for my experience, I have not tried 360 or playstation and doubt it would work for playstation at all.)- Click Identify- Then calibrate and go through that process using the auto calibrated analogue stick setting. Your Shift tab steam overlay will be all mucked up. But doing this made my Xbox One controller work for me.
Now here is the best part. Go into the games ordinary pause menu. Then follow these steps. -Options -Controls- Adjust the sensitivity how you like for the mouse sensitivity bar. I used the two side arrows and it is two ticks to the right from the very left side. feels super comfy. Then -Controls again at the bottom left of the controls panel you are in. -Make sure you see "Keyboard" at the top of the selections for the controls menu. Which ever Xbox button you hit as an input after having clicked on something (Ie, activate, jump, ready weapon) will automatically translate into the matching keyboard button. I believe A is Enter, left bumper is Z (I always use this for grab), and crap like that. If anyone has any issues, I will post my control scheme down below in my comment so you can manually change them yourself so they match your controller. But you should just be able to us the controller for at least inputs on the control panel =) Both attack and defend should be perspectively Right trigger, and left trigger anyway. So no worries for anyone there!
If you want to run on a diagonal, you may need the mods. Enhanced Camera- and - Walkblessed OBSE. Keep in mind I don't know this for sure! and also keep in mind that you will need to have caps-lock enabled to run like normal, otherwise you will be walking slowly forever! once it is enabled you can use left stick to move at a variable level, pushing lightly goes slow, and pushing hard goes fast! Alt-Tabbing even with a fix mod will probably break the controller system until you reboot the game! It is also worth noting, that the favorites menu is buggy, so its best to use the in menu spell selection. While in the inventory menu, to swipe from tab to tab, For character, quests, and inventory. Push down, or up on the left analogue stick, then swipe along the corner of the controller to either or direction (left or right) and the tab will switch accordingly! You can also use the right analogue stick to move the cursor, Then right trigger to select things with the cursor if u so choose. But it is a bit fast. I do not know how the map will function yet as I had just discovered all of this within a few moments of posting. So hopefully I am not missing anything!
Just came across a bit of an issue i thought i might see if anybody had this issue or if its a known one anyways. The camera tends to stutter a bit. Very consistently though. But when i move or stand there, its totally fine. Its not my hardware, it just seems to be the camera control. i can move my mouse and it will be smooth as butter. Just a weird thing.
