"Port" from Fallout 3 to Oblivion, originally for my own use, but since it's already done, I decided to put it there, too, since I like swords looking rather like period weapons than fantasy swords. My original Fallout 3 mod is here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3621 If you are more interested in historical background, check the description and links I added to the discussion for the original file.
Some info about period longswords: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longsword
The sword looks somehow funny in Oblivion, normal map is indeed strange and the blade writing is very fuzzy, but it's likely caused by the lower resolution (I reduced the textures to 512x512). The textures are amateurish, sorry about that, I started with texturing when I made my first F3 mods.
Sword is in Chorrol fighter guild basement, on the floor close to the training figurine. Note that it will look almost black in the dark room so you have to look carefully. The sword is fast, lightweight for game standards (my blunt steel longsword replica weights 1.6 kg exactly), robust and dealing good damage.
Installation: unpack the zip file and copy everything from Data folder into your Oblivion data folder. Start the game and check defender.esp.
