Firstly yes great work, was much easier using your guide then the one i used a year ago last time i installed FCOM. explained a lot more about all the optional and unnecessary stuff...
but i have a drama with containers. i have started from the beginning multiple times and made sure I've followed everything closely.
after i have done the minimum step and i load the game to test it, all the locations where containers and creates that are open-able have a big bright yellow "WTF meshes are missing" and no create.
Your guide is extremely useful, and clarifies a great deal. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out MMM installation. It's several versions newer now, and the main file is a BSA file. How do I extract the various pieces mentioned in your guide before building the OMOD? Thank you.
You...Thomas... are a life saver. I was phrickin' going crazy trying to get the kinks out of my 1st time FCOM installation and it took your guide to get me through it.
Anyone attempting an FCOM install will benefit GREATLY from this guide. In fact, read this guide before even bothering with the FCOM Homepage. The FCOM site hasn't been updated in forever, and has many, MANY outdated version #'s for just about everything. Yes it is bloated and confusing, with too many "don't you know that already?" instructions.
This guide here answers a lot of the conflicting instructions in a clear step-by-step manner. Even using OBMM properly, these instructions should be read before OBMM's own ReadMe.
It is a Godsend. I gift you a bottle of Talmika's finest :-)
Thanks for all the great comments, I have abandoned this guide for a long time but Oblivion has been starting to itch me in the back of the brain again. So some time in the next month or so look for a updated version.
Thanks again for the support it took me literally hundreds of hours of research, test, and write the guide, & I am glad it's still working great & people are enjoying it.
Sorry you hare having problems with the guide, I noticed there may have been some file updates within the past few months. I wasn't able to keep track of things due to work & moving but I'll try to update the guide today & get a revised version online tonight.
Even so if you DLed all the file versions in the guide everything should work.
Try disabling ALL the mods incuding the bashed patch & try to run your game.
Then slowly add back in the ESP files for Frans, OOO, MMM, etc... and see if it crashes anywhere.
Usually the cause for the game to not even start is you are missing an ESM file that is required by a ESP file.
For example MartsMonsterMod.ESM is requied for all of the MMM ESP files.
OR sometimes it can be the other way around.
A ESP file is missing that is required by a ESM file. (This is usually not the case.)
Also make sure that when you created your bashed patch that you added all the Bashed Tags from (BOSS aka. FCOMhelper) to the file descriptions; that you deactivated the files that were merged into the bashed patch; and that the bashed patch is set to load last in your load order.
