I was using testing this mod today when I was installing Oblivion on my sister's computer. She only had Unofficial Patch and the official patch installed at the time.
These were the problems that I spotted:
- The book cannot be picked up. Not very useful if I have to always go back to the Inn to use it... I may as well use an altar. ">
- The book is set as not owned by the player. So if you use it and someone sees you, you are called a thief and have to repent for your crimes!
- Similarly, using the book is considered stealing an item and is marked so in your "score sheet."
Here are my suggestions (but of course they're not demands, they are just some ideas you might consider!)
- Have us acquire the prayer book via a chapel or altar, not in a strange Inn.
- Perhaps give us a quest to obtain the book, doesn't have to be huge, but something good-aligned. The book is fairly powerful - it's a portable altar, so it would be more balancing.
- If you have infamy and you try to use the book, perhaps once per day your infamy might decrease... penance, in a way.
- Maybe give the prayer book a unique texture.
Anyway, I uploaded some screenshots. I hope you don't mind. I will wait until I hear a reply or possible fix to those problems before I rate. ">

How about a third person animation of devotion as an option when one interacts with the book. And to decrease the cheat level you could add a quest to go to all of the chapels in a specific order or some other type of pilgrimage before the Book works.
