ATTENTION: YOU MUST HAVE BETHESDA'S FIGHTER'S STRONGHOLD/BATTLEHORN CASTLE MOD INSTALLED FOR THIS TO WORK!!

What is Battlehorn Castle/Fighter's Stronghold?

Have you ever wanted your own castle, but didn't feel like you actually got the sense of ownership? Bethesda provided one, but much was missing--and much was also good. The original Battlehorn Castle offered an attractive, fairly easy-to-navigate castle (except for the basement). Such a short trip from your front door to your bedroom, or to an area where your items are stored, had not been seen in a castle before in vanilla Oblivion. It also managed to maintain the impression of grandeur despite this relative simplicity. This Bethesda castle offers wine-making, taxidermy (monsters to line your halls as trophies), servants, companions, a few secrets, etc. It's a pretty nice looking castle, too. If you don't already have Castle Battlehorn, you may purchase it here. (http://obliviondownloads.com/StoreCatalog_ProductList.aspx?SubCategoryId=1) If you already have it, read on!

What does Battlehorn Castle Enhanced do?

Battlehorn Castle Enhanced adds to the Bethesda design complimentarily, without taking away from the original intention. It puts rooms in that people wanted and voted on. There are reasons that players choose homes, and reasons they do not. I have removed several important "reasons why not." It also adds a bit to the lore, in the form of dropped notes, diaries, etc. Additionally, the original castle layout looked something like a short stack of jenga blocks, about to topple (if you put the interiors within the cells together). The exterior, meanwhile, is shaped rather like a rectangular brick.. Battlehorn Castle Enhanced fills in the missing interior space.

Features

* Library: In the original Bethesda conception, I wondered why I paid 1500 gold for a dozen or so books in a bedroom alcove. A real library has been added, with workstations. It's pathed appropriately, so NPC's will avoid the bookshelves. You may find one or two skill books in here as well. The library is furnished at the same time that "Library Area" is purchased from the merchant in the Merchant's Inn. If you have already purchased the "Library Area," you will not have to pay for it again. You will instead confirm your purchase, and this is done on castle property. See the FAQ.

* Guest Bedrooms: A castle has important visitors from time to time, so why wouldn't they stay the night? One royal guest suite has been added, two noble suites, one smaller suite, and a room intended for children. The guest rooms are set up at the same time that "Bedroom Areas" is purchased from the merchant in the Merchant's Inn. If you have already purchased the "Bedroom Area," you will not have to pay for it again. You will instead confirm your purchase, and this is done on property. See the FAQ.

* Proper Treasury Room: This room is equipped with shelved strongboxes, more display cases, stands of different heights, some named boxes for sorting, and is decently large. New concept (as far as I know): open treasure chests for displaying gem/coin/metallic loot. A strong door separates the room from the upper hallway and a key must be found near where "the sleepy pot is too hot for the hands."

* Tower Bar: At least one of the unused towers is enterable now. Within are two levels of refreshment and relaxation. Three, if you count rooftop seating. While still separated by a trap door, one must assume this is frequently left hanging open to allow open flow of traffic. Staircases are used to navigate the levels. You can drink on top of the tower! (If it pleases you to do so.) Note: Former occupants not to be held responsible for plummeting deaths.

* Minor Details: More scattered display cases for your less rare (but displayable) weaponry. A throne and platform which blend nicely into the great hall. Armor mannequin stands exist throughout. Download Reznod's Mannequins to display standing armor which does not move. Reznod's Mannequins is clean and you can set up the figures as you wish them to be posed. An enchanting and spellmaking station is provided in the master bedroom. Also a few fixes here and there; if anything was not correct in the original incarnation of Battlehorn, it has been corrected.

Mods Highly Recommended for Use with this Mod

Reznod's Mannequins -- http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2055

Why: I have placed armor stands off of the trophy-animal stand model. Unless you want a single piece of armor per stand, twitching idly, downloading Reznod's Mannequins will allow you to suit up wooden or marble mannequins of both genders. I have never had a problem with his mod. The mannequins are purchaseable from any trade goods store in a major town (Three Brothers, Colovian Traders, etc).

Lost Spires -- http://www.lostspires.com/pages/downloads.htm

Why: I have placed higher stands to accommodate the various vases and artifacts that you will earn access to with Lost Spires. Else, you can use these stands to store simple vases or the like. Also, it's just a damn good mod.

Toaster's Companion Share/Recruit -- http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=543

Why: This will allow you to fill your castle (or any area, for that matter) with NPC's that you have recruited from anywhere in the game. There are new sleeping quarters and recreational quarters. This adds to the immersion experience.

**This mod has only the mod incompatibilities of the original Battlehorn Castle mod by Bethesda. These can be gotten around usually by working with the load order. See the readme inside for more information, plus the FAQ/Spoiler
section.
