So after almost 17 years, I finally uploaded the mod to nexusmods, replacing the empty 'DOWNLOAD ONLY VIA MIRROR LINKS' text file that has been downloaded more than 29.000 times. A minute of silence, please.
The maximum file size on Nexusmods (or tessource, as it was called) was, if I remember correctly, 25 MB, which is why I was unable to upload the mod here back then. And well, as you know, there was an excellent guidepost to other places where you could get the files (and me being lazy), so I never felt the need to upload it here once that file size limit went up. But apparently the Mirrors tab doesn't exist any more so here we go...
The packages that I uploaded have the latest 1.8 patch included. I added a few annotations to the readme file but otherwise everything is still the same. Also, it's just the plain files this time, that silly .exe installer is gone. Sorry about that, by the way. I was a teenager and thought it was super cool and special to make my own installer. Lol.
Thanks to everyone here and keep having fun with Ivellon (if you can read the fonts in the books – I regret nothing)!
You know all the awesome mods from back in the day really temper my excitment for the remake. I know most of the people will not return to update or remake their mod...
Seconding this - should it ever be possible. Absolutely one of my favorite quests ever. I'll always remember the tension I felt feeling around the dark dungeon, trying to figure things out... mods like this would shine in the remastered graphics engine.
I examined the .esp in TES4Edit and compared it to my texture files folder, and everything is in the correct location. Regardless, every document that isn't a book (letters, notes, ect) is blank.
You should have just used normal text to display the information, instead of textures with fancy font that is nearly illegible.
*EDIT* I found the reason. It was Wrye Bash's bashed patch. Do NOT have 'DarNified Books' ticked under 'Tweak Assorted' when rebuilding your bashed patch. While it did not mess up any books, it DID mess up any letters, scrolls, and notes that are from this mod.
That's one of the mods I got with Igromania PC magazine CD back in 2007 and one of the mods that made me into 3D modeller. I'm happy to see the author is still active and (hopingly) well. Thank you for a great experience.
Oh my god! This mod! I played it years YEEEEARS back once much younger and remember I shat my pants several times. Installed the game just to enjoy it once more... The atmosphere still catches you, the creepy "horror" is just perfect. Because I could not remember much I got jumpscared still a bunch and I loved it. Thank you so much for this masterpiece that I kept in my memories and heart for so long!
Btw I can only highly recommend to install a mod that deactivates combat music! Because the dungeon is so dark, sudden combat music ruins atmosphere and robs you of a lot of scary enemy encounters! (custom creepy dungeon music is a big Plus too)
This is the mod I played all those years ago and could not figure out if it was just some made up memory I remember loving the feeling of this mod so much , that medieval vibe man ! haha thank you for updating this!
I'm rebuilding my modlist now and can't wait to get back into delving your excellent dungeon. I'm so happy to see the mod reuploaded and patched! Thank you for the great experiences.
I played this over a decade ago, and decided to try it again when I saw that you updated it. Thanks!
Are you open to some suggestions and bug reports?
Here's a bug report: I am level 45 and my Intelligence is 100. Drinking the Potion of Folly only drops it to 26 and your script (01IvCryptINTRScript) requires it to be 10 or less. For my own needs I increased the drain amount to 100 and the script to check for less than 20 (just for breathing room). In general the drain amount should probably be relative to your current Intelligence level.
Another bug: I cannot load any save game made after entering the dungeon or it crashes. I can get around this by loading the save I made right before entering the dungeon and then load up my latest save from there. Hopefully this won't mangle anything else. I looks around in the CS and can't see what would cause this.
I'm always glad to receive feedback – thanks for yours! – but I don't think that I will get back into these old modding tools again. I've often considered doing some fixes and changes over the years as there are many things I'm not happy with but I simply don't have the time. Also I'm afraid I might open Pandora's box and attempt to overhaul the whole thing ...
Draining intelligence: drinking two of those potions should do the trick as well.
As for the crashes, never heard about that before. My first guess would be some compatibility issue. I honestly wouldn't have a clue on how to fix that either, other than disabling other mods, changing the loading order or trying to play with a new character.
Has anyone found a way to enchant Heironymous's sword and the Old Family sword? I have the altar active with the crystal and enough coins, but those weapons don't obtain any properties outside of the "No effect on strike."
Hey Lazarus. Your mod sticked with me for all those years. It was always an example for me to bring up when talking about good mods. You did fantastic. Crazy that you are still around. Your contribution and work is not forgotten and finally there is an opportunity to thank you. Thank you thank you thank you

any plans for Oblivion Remake? ;)

Yours is among the most memorable ones.
Ivellon is always a must for any playthrough I do. One of the best quest mods I've ever seen personally.
None of the books have text.
All completely blank.
So I have had to use the walkthrough.
Which is kind of a bummer. I wanted to solve puzzles!
