No point in using this mod, unless you you don't have a Bashed Patch.
When you rebuild your Bashed Patch just go to Tweak Settings, enable Crime: Alarm Distance and set it to 1000. That's really all this mod does. The plugin contains a few more records but they all use vanilla values. And the harder plugin is absolutely identical to the default plugin.

edit: A fixed version of the harder plugin can be found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/5524/

Are you saying this mod isn't needed since you can apply these settings/ changes in Wyrebash? If so thank for the info.

KayronDS would you be able to explain where to find "Tweak Settings" to enable this setting? I can't seem to find it in Wyrebash.

@benny70 When you rebuild your Bashed Patch you'll find a section with Tweak Settings. There's a lot of other tweaks there that could be useful too.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but adding this mod corrupted my whole game. To the point where replacing my /data folder with my backup one didn't work -- I had to re-install the whole game and all my other mods. The actual bug: pressing "new game" did nothing and trying to load a save simply CTD.

I tried troubleshooting by only installing this mod and OBSE, and the same thing happened. Either I f***ed up monumentally, or there's something wrong with my game files, or this mod has an issue for some reason.

I have the GOG version of Oblivion, installed directly onto my computer (not via GOG Galaxy).
List of the mods I had when first installing NPG:
    Oblivion Reloaded
    OCO v2
Lore-Friendly Replacer for Default Hair for OCO v2
    A takes All
    DarNified UI 132

Never really had problems with this, I do remember that happening to me as well but it was because of me messing up installing Oblivion Reloaded and so it might not be the same I'm not sure. If you really must have this mod then just replace this with Hear No Evil, it does the same thing but with some extra features so it might even be slightly better than this. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/25462?tab=files&file_id=44305

I'm really hoping this mod still works. Reneer's still has psychic guards (probably doesn't work anymore).

As per the comment below, perhaps it was a simple fix but I didn't know how to do it and I appreciate the reality this added to my role-playing. Thanks for the mod.

IS there a way to avoid using this .esp and making the tweak myself inside the oblivion.esp\esm via tesedit?

Thank you. I thought OOO or one of the other mods I use would have fixed, they didn't.
