Any luck on getting this one back online? I just started the game and one of my favorite parts is managing freighters/frigates. It's a section of the game that has gotten little love from the devs.
Hmm.... well I see your point and I've seen others express similar wishes. I'll keep it in mind ... if I do something of that nature it will probably become a wider economic re-balance rather than being limited to fleets. This mod only stayed up because it was my first-ever, sort of a memento (but also it still works for anyone running a NEXT version)
I deleted about 12 other mods from NEXT-era before it occurred to me that it was a way better idea to clearly mark that they're NEXT-mods and leave them up, as I saw someone complaining (unrelated) about older version mods always being taken down over time so they couldn't seriously mod their Foundations install. Fortunately I still have a bunch of those and can re-upload but I'm reluctant to cause a confusing wave of mods that don't actually work with modern NMS lol. I just know hundreds of people will just be like "Hey your brand-new mod don't work whut gives" lol
thanks for keeping that in mind. appreciate your work for old mods a "WORKS ONLY FOR VER. 1.77 AND BELOW" will suffice IMO. i wouldn't deleting them if old version users still exist. as for complaining : if you build a mod that cures all cancer patients instantly, still there will be a complainer.let em be . lol
There are a few comments about frigates not "immediately" asking to be recruited every time one goes near them. I looked at it from a roleplay point of view: one had to earn their trust and loyalty to get them to send you a request to join. Whether that is real or imagined in the game mechanics, I didn't care, it was how I used the immersion of the situation to explain the apparent behavior. It also made for some fun gaming experiences: saving a fleet and having 3 frigates defect to me afterward; but, the captain of the freighter being an ungrateful S.O.B. and offering me nothing he wouldn't have, if I had just met him in a spaceport over a drink:: his freighter at 100% price, no discount. On the flip side, trying to recruit them for 15 minutes, and then end up in an epic battle because I dawdled too long. I'll spare you the details. lol Love this mod! Stephanie and Bob
It looks like it takes a few hours of playing or a few warps to get the freighters to work again. You can't recruit ones immediately upon installing this mod. It appears to fully work with 1.71 too
That's both good and bad. Good because it means I don't have to go bug hunting if its true, bad because thats a thing that sucks that I cant fix that only happens when you install an expedition mod. Thanks a lot for helping to verify it!
I narrowed down the behaviour to this mod. Some frigates I can approach that do not have the recruitable tag on them and they will ask to be recruited, but those are rare
Interesting. I'll see if I can do something about that.
Come to think of it, I noticed that behavior too when I was working on the mod, but I ALSO noticed that after a few warps, the issue disappeared on its own, seemingly it has to do with how the game saves upcoming fleet appearances (you will notice if you reload from a planet surface, and go into space, reload, go into space, the same exact fleets will warp in.
If you have the chance, maybe play normally or warp around a handful of times and see if the odd intercom misalignment persists or if it works itself out after some time?
I certainly will, and I will keep you updated. I stopped playing briefly when the Abyss came out due to the several mods it broke, but I will play it this weekend and report back to you!
Thanks a lot. I was using "Expedition Revamped", but it always felt "cheaty": reduced failure/critical damage chances to a third of the original values, plus bumping 1-3 stars missions to get 5-stars rewards. Another mod, "Frigate Rewards Rebalance" (in nomansskymods.com) just increased units and nanites rewards by a factor of 10.
I'm not implying they are bad solutions, but this approach feels more balanced while still making them worth the effort.
Thank you! I was hoping to bring these expeditions into a reasonable balance alongside other (non-cheat) methods of earning like Scanning, Farming, and Trading.
I hope you'll be willing to come back and tell me more of your thoughts once you've played with it for a while.
