Hello, i really really wanted this to work as it s exactly what i was looking for.
I believed i followed all instructions (and i m used to moding in games and to the use of reshade) but no mater what i do it says at start it has a problem.
F4 doesnt work and it says it had an issue compiling the shaders.
I wish this would work . =( Thanks anyway for the work you did for the comunity
Does this still work with the recent update? I did exactly what the install methode told me to do but when I start up the game nothing happends, it does not work for me and I don't know why. Anyone know what I might do wrong? Edit: nvm just read up about vulkan and reshades, I'm not very familair with these kind of things will just wait until reshade supports the vulkan thing.
Hey there, I am new to modding this game, so thought I would ask a question before going ahead and installing something that could break my game, or cause CTD's etc.
I have quite a number of mods already installed and everything is working fine thus far. I also have Project Atlas - Diverse Environments Overhaul for Visions installed as well. Would ReShade, and your mod work along side it, or are they incompatible with each other? Apologies for asking this question, however, I have tried using a compatibility utility to see if certain mods work together or not with not much luck.
I know with some more fiddling around I would probably find an answer, but I thought I would simply ask you seeing as you are far more experienced than myself at modding. Many thanks in advance. Btw your mod does look awesome. Fair play to you for creating such a nice mod. It certainly takes that cartoony edge off of things.
I have an issue. When I "use" anything (a refiner, a container, a ship), I get flickering at the top and the bottom of the screen. It is super annoying and eye cancer.
hmmm have you turned off each effect one by one to see what is causing it? I haven't experienced that problem personally so I have no idea how I could fix it.
Is there any way to avoid having the text getting blurry like, in all 4 corners of the screen ? (Couldn't find it and that's a bit painful for me old eyes i'm afraid)
I already spoke to TheMercsAssassin about this as I am not an expert with Reshade at all. He told me the way Reshade works, its difficult to stop some effects causing blurring. Chromatic Aberration will blur the edges (that's just what it does), and so will Depth of Field (due to how Reshade works). Disable those two (hitting F4 key to bring up the Menu) and see how it goes. OR just use the "performance" version.
I honestly only play with bloom, border, sharpening and the colour correction. The rest of the effects either cause the issues you mentioned (which is just due to Reshade apparently) and because of performance. I only have a 980ti and I can't get 60fps at 1080p with the Full Cinematic version of this mod.
Sorry I couldn't help you further but if you find a Reshade that doesn't blur the edges or causes issues do tell me cause I would like to learn more about post processing and update this mod if I can.
Don't be sorry you did help me, it was the Chromatic Aberration (on by default) with the "performance" version, i don't use/like DOF.
I feel a bit silly, i could have found it on my own with a bit more fiddling. Just me being lazy thinking i might have the answer quicker by asking you, typical !
Weird I didn't realise it was still on my default. Thought it was turned off. Actually I downloaded it earlier to test something and I am pretty sure it was off. Will check again to make sure. It should be turned off on all 3 versions.
I think i might have understood what's been happening. Point 5 of your Installation guide, i might have deselected everything but that one and forgot about it later on. Because the more i think about it the more i'm pretty sure i haven't touched anything else that what we talked earlier. (heu that what, i'm note sure that's nice english like, sorry if it isn't)
Let's begin with a little suggestion. On point 8 of the installation guide you might want to add to make sure these line match our game's install paths as well : "PresetFiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\Realistic Lighting Overhaul Reshade.ini" Or does it pick it up automatically when the other three are changed ? I guess most people would get it but you never know hey.
Now to my personal setup with "Realistic Lighting Overhaul Reshade Performance 1.0.ini", i had nearly all the Mods already installed. I didn't have Chromatic Skies by MsrSgtShooterPerson installed, so i gave it a try, merging it with Infrequent Storms by ranger smith/ranger614 (60-90 minutes variation). No problems here. Having trouble enjoying darker settings (eyes getting old) i didn't install Darker Nights by Lo2k, Natural Lighting by Sixsocket & No glowing plants by Lo2k because i like glowing stuff (that makes it easier for me).
And now the boring questions for you to answer. I'm new to Reshade (let's say, installed one or two presets few years back, can't even remember for which game it was, but never play around with its settings) I know that's not the initial purpose of your preset but i was wondering if it was possible to get something between with and without your Mod about colours with the reshade Menu in-game, like increasing a bit all the ones tone down or lowered. And if so what should i be looking for to make these kind of changes ? Or do you think i should better look for an other preset ?
Let's hope i'll get a reply from you this time unlike in the comments of Coastal Waters by MeatSafeMurderer & Crystal Clear Water by DieuDeGlace.
Lies I did reply!! (albeit literally 5 minutes ago after reading this comment) Sorry I post so many questions on so many mods (probably tested over 100 mods by now) and sometimes I solve the issues myself and end up not going back to reading the comments. Again my apologies - I have a decent track record at replying I swear!! Over 5000 of them!
I guess I can add that to point 8 - honestly I just followed the guide written by TheMercsAssassin, not sure if it's auto detected or not.
With regards to my preference of making things darker, it's all a pure thing of personal taste - it is really hard to please everyone. In fact this mod only exists because I made personal edits to Project V which friends and other people here liked - and I was pushed a little to upload it. Haha. I really enjoy deeper blacks and a stark contrast between lit areas and non - adds immersion for me.
Glowing plants is also a personal thing yeh. They look super pretty but the reason I disabled them is to balance the scene more and let people actually explore rather than follow visual cues/hand holding. Again personal taste
With regards to adding or removing more colour or vibrancy - there are a few settings you can try.
As an example, with RLOr you may notice colours are heavily desaturated to avoid the cartoon look - and some colours have been toned down and may seem white or grey - when before they were a light purple or light green or brown. It is super hard to balance it all out because you put up a green or a blue and suddenly you notice snow becomes purple or pink - same goes with sand. So you end up having to sacrifice some vibrancy or select hues which appear on flora or ships/suits.
To make edits, you can do this on the fly by hitting the f4 key to bring up the Reshade menu. Any edit you make is actually saved back to the ini file.
Scroll down to qUINT_lightroom.fx and you will find a bunch of settings here.
Under colour and saturation you can bring those settings closer to 0 to go back to default saturation and vibrancy. You can also fiddle with the Palette settings but you might have issues balancing all colours across all biomes. It took me a good 10-15 hours of fiddling with the settings to get them right for my personal tastes . Remember I am colourblind, so it might take a normal person less time.
If you can give me some specifics of what you like to see, I could even make a fantasy version or even a black and white high film grain to give it an old black and white feel (ie 1930s look). I don't mind making more presets for people.
Well now that's what i call a nice reply, but don't worry about it, i've seen you around (hard to miss) i know you're an OK dude.
Yeah it's all about personal taste when it comes to modding, even more with visual ones & ReShade presets i believe.
Thanks for pointing me out where to look and what to change, i do appreciate it ! I'll try fiddling (thanks again i was looking for that exact word for a few days, english isn't my native language, in case that wasn't obvious, as if ..) with the settings first and if i'm really too dumb to achieve something nice/satisfying enough i may get back to you for a fantasy kind of settings, if i see that you don't have too many request going on.
Many Thanks (and that's the last ones, no more Thanks for now) for the offer and for taking some of your time to give me such nice reply !
Edit : lol I knew about RLO (quite a famous Mod, one of the most downloaded one, i wouldn't know about SSE though, didn't get back to Skyrim since then), OK i'll take care not to piss you off then, i'll try, i'll do my best... i'm not perfect neither, far from it !
I might make more presets anyway. I just finished a black and white old school classic sci fi version with film grain.
I am really enjoying playing with this version for some reason - I actually feel excited about NMS again pretending I am in some old sci fi movie from the 1940's or 50's.
Get back to me here if you want me to make a fantasy version, or feel free to use all the assets in this mod and make your own preset. The more the merrier - more people can enjoy the game - which always makes me happy.
Edit : ...haha yes I am pretty hard to miss. I am an ex games tester and long time community guy and modder on Skyrim Nexus (Realistic Lighting Overhaul). I enjoy testing and tinkering....and of course fiddling. I am pretty nice (I guess) but trust me I am borderline insane and I have lost my cool on this Nexus site many times. Haha. I always have the best intention though, but my delivery of said intentions are somewhat questionable at times. <3
I just want to add that most of the credit should go to TheMercsAssassin as he made most of the mod features and I do hope you guys mention him and his mod on your social media. He deserves more credit than me.
I basically just added some fixes and made some tweaks which took about 10-12 hours to do and test. Since some of his mod fans wanted to use my preset, he allowed me to upload it here. Most of my "hard work" came from about 200 hours worth of mod testing to put together a series of mods that blend well together to improve the game. As you might know, I am an ex games tester and Skyrim modder so I enjoy tinkering and testing mods and making mods of my own too - though nothing ever comes close to the 2000+ hours it took to make Realistic Lighting Overhaul for Skyrim and SSE.

I *may* update it then.

Edit: Weird in fact, i can't recall changing it but maybe i did by inadvertence though.
Maybe it's saved on the other files, not sure.
